    Hi Ed! I'm a Sony user, but for days I am considering switching to the Lumix S5II system. I have been looking at optics options, and I am TOTALLY IMPRESSED with the results of this macro lens, apart from your incredible capabilities as a filmmaker obviously. So you already have a new subscriber/follower and soon a Lumix user too. Your video totally convinced me. ❤️

    When you were shooting at the printing place and tapping on the screen to autofocus - would a follow focus and manual focus not be better for things like that? To avoid any hunting ruining the shot? Oh and also the beer. And I guess the movement of the beer can was due to a wobbly floor or surface? Might be good to clarify that was not a camera or lens error. It's much cheaper in the US, if people have friends or family there to buy it and send to them - £782.53 vs £999 - £200 / 20% saving. I think this, the 35mm 1.8, and the 24-70 2.8 would be a great combo. Maybe the 18 or 24mm 1.8 too.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  Год назад

      Yes if tracking focus (probably, although the AF is pretty competent if you set it up properly), but I just wanted it to lock onto a single point and remain there - for this the touch screen is perfect

    This is unrelated to the current vid BUT have you heard about Kolari Vision offering an OLPF installation for the S5II? I remember you previously stating you found the sharpness of the sensor to be a downside so I thought you would like to know!

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  Год назад

      I have seen it, yes!
      Not quite sure I can justify the price tag atm or sending off my cam for a few weeks... but it's tempting.
      I feel like it's most benefit for people who experience moiré like a lot of wedding filmmakers suffer from with suits - I don't tend to hit up against it as much. Of course I'd love the softer image it'd produce but I also have my EVA1 or Komodo for that.

    • @Sodacake
      @Sodacake Год назад

      @@EdProsser Yeah, for sure. I do hope this causes us as consumers to maybe start demanding OLPF more or maybe that manufacturers could also provide an OLPF version of cameras aimed at filmmakers similar to what Blackmagic do with the Ursa 12k.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  Год назад

      @@Sodacake it'll be interesting to see what they do with their next flagship camera update. I think the issue is balancing the needs of stills users with video shooters, cinematographers and content creators they all need diff things and difficult to please all in a single body (and at cost).
      The S5 isn't a huge flagship cam and delivers some amazing features at a ridiculous price, for me I can swallow the lack of OLPF, but I love that there's now an option to add one for those that absolutely need it. My main issue with the mark 2s is the internal processing and oversharpening - whatever is going on there. I actually noticed it when shooting this vid, the eye shot on the thumbnail has some weird digital sharpening artefacting on the outer curvature of the eyeball. Hard to see on YT but sticks out in Resolve.

    • @Sodacake
      @Sodacake Год назад

      @@EdProsser That's weird. I can't imagine they thought that would be useful for the filmmakers. It must be an artefact left over from the still image processing tuning on the sensor maybe?
