Never saw anything like that. Pretty cool, and holds lots of water.

some folks even use this for swimming pools...there are a few companies that make much larger versions but I've never tried them.

That's a massive win. I'd probably just use it for bathing and therapy. Then use the leftover hot water that I'd drain out for something like laundry

I heated it up to 120F from well water temp in 3.5 hours.. I didn't take the out of the ground water temp, it's cold though...maybe 45f?

It's Asian, it has Asian writing on the wood stove door, I would use it for outdoor hot tub like you're doing, that's a cool prep for hot water.

Chofu (the name of the stove) is a city in Japan though i'm not sure where it is actually made...assuming Japan is a safe bet. I love this thing. works great. I bet YOU could build one....it's just a wood box with an outer shell. The hot water systems on wood stove are the same system. This thing costs around $1K now...I just looked up a water heater for a wood stove on Lehman's and their #1 model is $1600 and smaller than the Chofu. I don't know if you've heard of Lehman's, it's an old old store in an Amish community, they sell a lot of manual items made by the Amish, this water heater (for the wood stove) is made locally by an Amish family. Long story to say that you have the skills but I know your don't have the time..

Wow, this is great. I wonder if an old steel propane tank could be converted into one of these?

I wondered the same thing and I think yes if you have a smaller tank to put inside for the firebox

You find the most interesting contraptions. Thanks for sharing them with us all. I wanted to reach through the screen and peel that label off the ThermoPro thermometer faceplate though!

@vickenator ha ha. I leave those stickers on to "protect" the device...soon it's all foggy but it's protected! I know it's ridiculous...great eye thought
