A lot of what James Tyler saying is 100% on point. I can tell you from inside knowledge. But I gotta tell you that a lot of the crap of this trilogy was 100000% pushed by Bob Iger. Fact is he overpaid for the franchise and he NEEDED to make that money back and he NEEDED it to “embrace” the Me Too movement. The ending had SEVEN different setups. And ALL of them were actually shot. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver practiced for weeks lightsaber duels that were them tagging up vs Emperor Palpatine (a stunt double of course) that was then scrapped. Those two actors were soooooo pissed. Then they had three scenarios in where Ben Solo would live. One of them had the Force Ghosts help Rey resurrect him - that would have been EPIC. Like let’s see Ben Solo deal with the fallout of what he has done. That to me would have 100000% been better. And they did NOT go with it. And universally I think everyone can agree (whether they love or hate the ST) that Adam Driver was the GEM in that trilogy and to have him (and the Skywalker bloodline) die was a HUGE mistake!!! There is no Star Wars without the Skywalkers and Adam Driver WANTED TO head that up. He still to this day says Ben Solo is his top 3 characters he ever loved to play. He says he had his time with Kylo Ren and wanted the depth that Ben Solo had to shine more. And all he got at the end was an “Oww!” Like WTF?!?! Like you Geek, I’m still heartbroken. No one will ever be able to convince me that the Skywalker Saga HAD TO end. That we couldn’t have creatively brought Ben Solo back and handed him the fucking torch. Adam would have nailed that shit, he’s such an amazing actor. And it’s because I’m so heartbroken Geek, that I’m doing something about it. I’m making my own trilogy of films (full films) that continue that Saga as 10, 11, and 12. And I’m doing it in hopes that 1) we unite some of our fans together and 2) fucking Lucasfilm finally listens. Because they’re only EVER GOING TO LISTEN if we ALL (or almost all) stand United together. So if you truly love this franchise, guess what??? Stop attacking each other and UNITE. Ya know????
@@Lizardgreininja47449 100% they are. Do you know how much licensing they would have to pay if they did not own that property? With the parks and the merch and everything else? Remember Disney isn't JUST a movie and film company, like that's not even their BIGGEST money maker. Its the parks --- world wide. They save themselves hundreds of millions of dollars every year by not having to pay an outside company for licensing.
The development of IX is an interesting one. So Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World 1 and 3) was suppose to direct IX, he dropped out, and it was between Rian and JJ to direct IX and JJ got it. JJ was also brought in at the very last second and IX delayed from releasing in May 2019 to Dec 2019. I cannot imagine the amount of pressure JJ and crew had to deal with making a sequel to the most divisive film of all time. There was no way any filmmaker whether it was JJ, Colin, Spielberg, Tarantino anyone could make a sequel out of the TLJ and make it universally loved. Some group of people would hate IX regardless because of TLJ. And Trevorrow's script that was leaked was the first draft and not the final one he submitted and his final draft wasn't as good as his first and imo his first was alright but like I said, that script wouldn't deliver. All we had was his first draft and it's all about execution. His latest Jurassic World film wasn't good and I don't think given his experience, Colin would handle making IX compared to JJ. IX was a no win situation and people need to understand had Disney/Lucasfilm push the release date to May 2020 to give JJ and co more time to clean out the script, you would have the pandemic happened and they would have a 300 million dollar movie sitting on the shelves. Rise of Skywalker was sadly the best possible outcome they could have given the circumstances. Personally I like ROS. I view ROS as the 2nd and 3rd act into one as TLJ didn't really do anything as a 2nd act. Watching this movie made me wish JJ was in charge of the whole ST. They didn't need a plan but they needed a unified vision. I do understand people not liking it, but when it comes to the behind the scenes logistics I can't blame JJ for IX. I blame Kennedy for not having a plan and a vision and Rian for TLJ.
@@billmcdermott9647 I haven't, but Jason Ward from Making Star Wars Net, who has accurate scoops going back to TFA in 2013-2014, has details on what Trevorrow was going to have in his final draft.
I agree he still did a bad job for episode 9 but yeah it was a horrible job to take no one good make a satisfying movie the first 2 messed it up too much
Trevorrow's script at least felt like a natural continuation and closing of the sequel trilogy. Sorry but stop giving JJ a pass on this movie. Was he in a difficult situation because of TLJ? yes. Doesn't excuse this piss poor screenplay that looks like it was written by a 5 year old.
3 years later and this film still feels like something a 3 year old wrote while playing with his Star Wars toys. The fact that Disney read this screenplay & greenlit it is apalling
The biggest failure of The Rise of Skywalker is they took a massive dump on Anakin and the chosen one prophecy. Palpatine being alive and not being killed by Anakin makes the prequels pointless and nullifies the prophecy. The dude didn't even bring balance to the force. I've heard people say "Oh well the force was in balance for 30 years". This is THE Jedi prophecy, I doubt they were hyping this up just for the Sith to be gone for a few decades. On top of that, considering the novel says Palpatine transferred his soul to a clone body upon his death on the Death Star, it was more like the Sith were dead for 30 seconds before Palpy woke up in his new body. This movie made The prequels and Return of the Jedi pointless, basically nullifying 4 movies. It takes some real f@ckery to botch a franchise that bad!
The only part that I felt something for a character was when Chewbacca found out that Leia died. I know he doesn't talk, he just screams and yells and growls but what I found hilarious was that I was actually feeling sorry for a 8ft tall walking carpet alien that doesn't speak instead of feeling something for these newer characters. He lost all of his friends Luke Han and Leia in these movies.
Like them or not, the sequel trilogy is one of the most damaging things to SW. Everytime I discuss them I get so mad, and we can't redo them either. Such a bummer.
I think a RUclips comment I forget in what video said it best, "the plot with the dagger is like finding an Aztec blade that had an outline on the twin towers on it that lead to gold", or something like that
If they wanted to bring back any villain it should’ve been snoke. They could keep the clone idea and have it so that upon death he transferred his essence into one of the many clones which is how he’s lived/survived for so long through the many years. The only way to defeat him would’ve been to kill all the clones until the very last one(obviously make a limited amount for the story purpose). Anything would’ve been better than brining Sidious back…
I know TLJ split the Fandom however I still think that shouldve gone into a more interesting new idea. I think the best safe route was make a crazy good film with some previous stuff sprinkled for this one
I know it's not a huge deal but the worst part of this movie for me is that it was clearly teasing as the whole time that she was going to get a double-bladed lightsaber. First she can't kill the training Droid with her lightsaber so she uses a long stick instead, then the Sith Ray lightsaber, and then in the end they give her the shortest lightsaber I've ever seen in my life. The blade is whatever I can't really tell how long it is but the hilt can barely fit one hand. It's like they said, oh you want a long lightsaber? Here I'll make it even shorter
The biggest issue is Disney is trying to make people think that they came up with the idea of Star Wars. Obi Wan, Solo, Rogue One, Andor, Rebels, Tales of the Jedi and Bad Batch. Five series and a movie in between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope. Boba Fett, Mandalorian and Resistance. These are the only shows right now in between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens. Disney is so focus on "fixing" what the creator did and not what they put out.
I’m not even lie Danny, I love your videos but the ones where you shit on whatever you’re talking about out when you go on a rant are my favorite videos you’re hilarious guy
I think this one is better then last Jedi because for me the last Jedi just makes me angry but this one just makes me laugh for how bad it is I’m just like what is happening
I like Rise of Skywalker. Kyle Newman came out and said he knew several film makers and journalists gave false positive reviews to maintain their access. Any sense of integrity was thrown out the window and they had to course correct hard
TFA was the same sh.t like other sequels. The missing Luke in the beginning was wrong set for the whole long boredom that followed. Only movie that actually catch part of the SW spirit was Rogue One.
Just do a review video about the last episode of the Mandalorian Season 2. It’s much more worth it than reviewing this low-down sequen trilogy. Bless you Geekdom 👍🏻
I use this analogy when talking about ROS. If The Last Jedi was the asassination of SWs as a creative brand, The Rise of Skywalker is the funeral/ zombied corpse of the franchise. What's hilarious is that I checked out Trevorrow's Duel of the Fates script and while it isn't still good, it's a lot better than this trite. But then again, this is the pile of poo we got from LF not having a plan and letting that fool Rian Johnson handle TLJ without any supervision. None of this movie makes any sense. The Emperor is back. Way to ripoff Dark Empire, LucasFIlm. What's hysterical is Kathleen Kennedy had the audacity to state they had no source material for SWs and yet this film is adapting Dark Empire with bringing the Emperor back. And while I wouldn't say I like that story from the old EU, it's leagues above this garbage. Ian McDermott is wasted in this movie. You can tell this wasn't planned one bit and just as bad the fleet of death star lasers made Starkiller base look really stupid. Rey is still terrible in this. She's training but what's the point? She's already good at everything and is just as a Mary Sue in this movie as the last one. Force healing? Wow, way to pull that out of your butt JJ and make Anakin's storyline completely pointless. The wayfinder macguffin is stupid and is very much like a bad video game and the ending to this movie is downright insulting. I honestly feel bad for Kylo Ren fans as the last line he ever utters is "ouch" before dying. All in all, what a biblical F up and ending to one of the worst trilogies every put to film. You have to turn your brain off and use head canon to enjoy this movie or other sequel films. These films need to be used as a lesson of how NOT to continue a franchise and if this was a crime, Kathleen Kennedy, Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams deserve to be tired and convicted of cultural vandalism. And no; it isn't our fault that these movies suck. Just like how customers aren't to blame for raw/ poorly cooked food.
Hell all the old games, novels, comics that take place after 6 with mara jade, cade skywalker and whatnot even tho some of it was bad they all had a better standing of what it means to be a skywalker
The last trashi is the worst Garbahe I have ever seen, literally broke a franchise and started a fan war and no one has ever attacked their fans so much since that movie calling legit criticism racist and biggot. If you thought the 3rd one was gonna be any better that's literally on you, I expected nothing out of this movie and at least I got a decent time with good action, so if you go hard into criticism for this film that's all on you, that's like eating a steak and someone shyts on it half way through, obviously the rest will be bad
Please go finish Andor, the first couple episodes are really boring but it really starts to get pretty awesome and the finale is just fantastic and I'm now in the boat that it may be one of the best Star Wars things in a long time
I second this, especially episode 6 and so on along with the story arc involving episode 8, 9 and 10. It also changes your viewing of Rogue One in a whole new different level
Yeah I saw this movie in theaters Christmas day, fortunately I didn't pay for the ticket. Me and the boys just talked shit on this film the whole way home. I'M STILL ANGRY lmao
I wanted to walk out of the theater halfway thru this film. What a trainwreck this was. This movie was just one action scene to another without any pacing. Filled to the brim with Mcguffins, coincidences, and contrivances. It's sad that I was bored watching an action movie
The whole ‘buying comics and novels to make the movies make sense” has been a thing since actually the 90s with Dark Empire and especially in the early 2000s for the prequels and to smooth the connective tissue with the PT and OT. I personally knew SW was like this which makes new comics still cool to me, but yeah it shouldn’t be the way to write a story.
@Purple Emerald to say that the Emperor coming back in Dark Empire isn’t vital to the films is insane Bc it literally changes the narrative view of those films. At least seeing such an event happen in the films allows it to be known to the exact broadness of the audience of those films. The audience of which to reach the comics is a massively small portion of viewers of the movies leaving the movies exclusive viewers shafted from a critical plot point
@Purple Emerald but a story involving the villain of the entire film movie saga which changed the trajectory of the Galaxy 75% story being told in all of the films, his conclusion in continuity isn’t MAJOR enough???
@Purple Emerald so only a small portion would have said conclusion. And at least in 2019 we knew that Palpatine had previously stated, by the writing of the creator George himself, that his goal was to live beyond death. Unlike in 1994 where Palpatine came back without any prior known desire to learn to surprise death. By any other author let alone GEORGE LUCAS. The execution of the story doesn’t matter, the execution and flow of the narrative does. That is what truly makes a coherent story.
Dark Empire clearly showed that the Emperor was gone for good once his last links to life were removed from him, something Rise of Skywalker does not adequately detail, so you can bet your ass the Emperor's coming back again one day.
@Julian “Jules” R I’ve seen reviewers who kept saying that Andor will be a bad show after watching the trailers but after watching the entire episodes, they finally admitted that they’re wrong about Andor and ended up liking the show. Heck, even Critical Drinker enjoys the show too!
Rise of Skywalker is the only film in the ST I will rewatch just because of the almost decent action as it has the best lightsaber duels in the Sequels, which is almost saying nothing. It was cool to see Sidious using force drain and a force storm but again they ruined the overall nature of the story and the characters. The duels were competent enough if this were a beginning for the Sequels but for an ending its wasted. There were so many ideas they squandered and ruined. The lack of direction and blubbering idiocy of the irresponsibility of the storyboarding is just a travesty. The Sequels suck. Geekdom you were capping when you said the duel was better in TFA, that duel was atrocious at least in Rise they have slightly better choreography with force powers in it. TLJ’s was a nightmare as is that whole tragedy of a film (the worst film ever made imo). Kylo Ren actually being a beast for the first time in the Sequels was one good thing about the Sequels, yet too late and the ending makes it worse. Adam Driver being an incredible actor and honestly his development was good but with a rushed film it wasn’t as good as it could be but I respect his acting ability to mimic Han Solos mannerisms and with a proper direction these films could have been incredible but nope. TFA and TLJ especially made Kylo a horrid and ridiculously un intimidating villain. The only good thing about the Sequels was this last film imo but its so minuscule that it doesnt matter at all because its best is terrible and rushed. The Sequels as a whole were disgusting and putrid and should be done away with. What an enormous waste of actor talent and the chance to make a good story. They should have adapted post ROTJ Legends and actually made the movies we all dreamed of. I gotta disagree that there are only 3 Star Wars movies, for me the Prequels overall especially ROTS>the OT. Revenge of the Sith is the GOAT.
ROS is sloppy, but it has a lot of good concepts and fun moments. I really don’t think we could have got much better of an outcome after TLJ - that movie completely derailed the ST. The biggest mistake they made with ROS was trying to cram it all into 1 movie, should have made it 2 parts
You'd only know that if you're reading the new EU, and there's only, like, six people doing that. I sure as hell stick to Legends for the EU side of the property.
I’ve thought about this for a while, but what are your thoughts on the idea of Star Wars getting a clean slate? Like, give a whole new universe with a new batch of characters away from the Skywalkers and everything else. I know this might sound like a sacrilege idea but I feel like Star Wars needs this. Star Wars being creatively bankrupt at this point is solely because Disney is catering to nostalgia.
@@fairyboy444 Yeah I know… funny enough I’m an old school Star Wars fan myself and I honestly think this is the only way to save Star Wars because in all honesty I’m getting burnt out with the same old same old content. I want something new. At least Star Wars Visions did something different with a some of their stuff.
@@OdaNobunaga15 The thing is with japan content with anime/ manga/ novels especially is banked pumping out unique stuff because everyone is in competitive environments where stuff can get cancel on a dime edue to not people buying the book/ they also put more effort in their work as well. Even with long running franchise like gundam is trying new things, while being able give new and old stuff a try. Vision is also proof of that. Star wars and pretty much most old western ip aren't this/ star wars has no competition and crap products by dozen on same era we been for last 2 decade and still make bank because nostalgia. Marvels is pratically the same/ exception being comics as manga along certain other books are getting bought up. Disney is pratically worst company that's star wars could have chosen as their bankrupt as hell when it comes to making new for the most part and partially because the executives doesn't have balls to try either compare japan. I would like new stuff too, but you'll be waiting years before anything happens to be frank.
I still really like 7. I’m about 40-60 on 8, because i feel like despite its issues. It had the most interesting ideas this trilogy had to offer. But 9, I fucking hate this movie. I do not use that word often. Are there something’s I like in this movie, yes, there is. But overall, I have never watched something that felt so heartlessly corporate. despite what people say about 7 & 8. To me, those movies have some heart to them. But 9 is just nothing, it’s literally nothing. And that’s why I hate it. It’s an empty, shallow, void that offers nothing to any Star Wars fan. It shits on the OT. It shits on 1-6 as a whole. And it shits on 7 & 8. So you just can’t win with this movie. And it just makes no fucking sense. I get the issues behind the scenes, but still. And the worst part about it is the original episode 9 script “Duel of the Fates” was actually pretty damn good. To a point to where it would have made seven and eight work together. I always thought TPM and AOTC where the worst Star Wars movies. But at least those movies had heart to them. And I agree Danny, they’re are truly only three Star Wars movies. And hopefully one day we get those three in their unaltered most pure versions. Cheers dude.
As horrible this movie is I can't bring myself to hate it because what's broken in the last film, the development crisis is shown too clearly by watching this film alone. Yes there's more the film has broke the franchise but after three years, I found this film emptiness of hatred.
The whole refer to the books and comics for more info gimmick worked for original trilogy because those were the first star wars movies ever made so naturally people were eager to know more and defenders of the sequels usually point to this. But the thing is since then star wars had become a huge property with many tie in comics, video games, novels etc, plenty of lore developed already such strategy will not work anymore and filmmakers need to take those things into account when making a new movie.
There's no way anyone can convince me this isn't the absolute worst of the 3. It's actually comedic how Disney decided to do things. What other multi billion dollar corporation trips up so bad and back tracks so hard just to please what they think fans want to give them money other than Disney Star Wars. And then messing it up that bad! Lol it's actually funny but I do have to agree it's also sad
I think rise of skywalker was the worst of the sequels. (Sequel trilogy were just bad) When the name rise of skywalker was revealed, I was hoping luke was going to rise coming back to life somehow. The smart thing they should had done was bring luke back and snoke
For me, even is it wasn’t cannon , it still would make me upset because it’s official Star Wars content and so, that decision with Luke’s character still happened, even if they made an excuse of it being in another timeline.
When Lukes ghost caught the lightsaber and smirked during that line I dead ass was expecting him to 4th wall and wink at the camera and for that fucking scene a lone and some TLJ stans getting their emotions rocked I give TROS high marks
I always hated him, because for Han or Leia to name their son after Obi-Wan is just... shows the seams showing through even back in 2015. In Legends, LUKE named his son Ben and it makes far more sense for him to do that, because before the Kenobi show, Leia had never met him and Han mocked him. The warning signs were right there in 2015. But Lucasfilm only cares about the normies, so nobody listened to the older fans.
Never gonna happen, that would require they admitting they made a mistake. Plus they want to double down on that "trying to please everybody" niche and so wind up pleasing nobody.
It would be the only way. I never thought I’d see the day where an entire trilogy would not only destroy itself ms but destroy the previous trilogies before it so badly that it would be better if the new trilogy didn’t exist at all
God nine is so bad. I went to see it with my brother and turned to him maybe an hour into it and said this movie sucks. It barely got better. Andor is terrific though.
i was sad too. if they would have atleast said a real snoke still alive and kylo killed a snoke clone; atleast they could have swung it that snoke planned for kylo to strike the clone to “complete his training or some bs”. i agree 1-6 are the definitive story. my favs are ep 3 and 5
I am fine with some people hating this movie, but the stuff people say about the sequels being retconned because of this movie, makes my blood boil. There is being upset about this movie, and then there is just being a absolute jerk spreading false info. Also I loved this movie a lot.
Hey, I feel the same way! I get so tired of agenda-pushers and disinformation peddlers abusing Star Wars for their own ends. Shit, look at the crap Mike Zeroh and Lore Star spin-doctored to claim Filoni is "saving" Legends. Talk to people in the actual community, we have a FAR different idea as to the overrated cowboy than most of these money-driven RUclips channels and the narrative they spin. I think mass ignorance is a plague on the fandom at this point.
ever see "the Man Who Knew Too Little"?--with Bill Murray? In the movie, there is a TV Show "Theater of Life" where actors run from scene to scene while explaining things with exposition? Rise of skywalker felt like this so much--I thought this movie was a parody---like really, one of the worst "bad" movies ever--so surreal
At least we'll always have the OT, this trilogy even made me appreciate the prequels which I never hated but I understood the criticisms it had but one thing about the prequels had is that they had a fucking plan and the clone wars made me like the movies a bit more but what did disney have in plan? Nothing, nothing at all this trilogy is an example of what goes wrong when you don't have plan and it sucks it should've a great trilogy but unfortunately the writing and production were poorly executed and like you said my friend the best thing to do is move on.
The Rice of Skywalker was even worse than The Last Jedi, and I'm dying on that hill. I have mixed feelings about The Last Jedi (as a standalone movie), but at least had some interesting stuff to offer. Whilst The Rice of Skywalker not only is a complete garbage movie, but also ruined the Sequel Trilogy as a whole in hindsight.
It is a good mess, but under multiple viewings, just falls apart. Lucas film and Disney killed the golden goose. This things has plot holes a passenger boat could go through. The emperor coming back was just lazy, and Fin being wasted from such a promise in Force awakens is inexcusable.
I can’t called these trilogy a sequel it felt more of a terrible remake ghostbusters 2016 in story the whole point sequel is to continue on after episode 6 but the problem is that they tried to continue a story that already finished they could have followed Luke story rebuilding the Jedi order and new republic keeping the peace of the galaxy could be a good story. Honestly the Disney trilogy are the anti trilogy you should watch the video Anti trilogy on So uncivilized.
I'm glad that you have such a balanced perspective on these films. They were so regrettably bad, despite some bright spots, and the Star Wars brand might never fully recover. All of the shows set after ROTJ are now a bit tainted, to me. I've liked The Mandalorian and Kenobi, though. I've got 0 interest in Andor. If IGN loves it, that gives me pause. While "small galaxy syndrome" is an issue, Star Wars is supposed to be somewhat mystical, and not so gritty.
For me, the Heir to the Empire trilogy, Jedi Academy Trilogy, NJO, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi novels are the real sequels. They may not be perfect. However, at least they make sense, tell a cohesive storyline, respect the legacy characters, have genuine stakes, make bold choices, and do different original things. And have some amazing character arcs. Luke has a great character arc in Legends. And I love the Jacen Solo storyline. Jaina Solo > Rey always :)
Legends all the way! I'll never give Disney Star Wars a single penny after they ceremoniously discontinued the EU in 2014 despite all the fresh storylines they could have continued telling under the new Legends banner. This company has been in it for themselves, not for us, since day one and still are.
It's really silly how geekdom doesn't seem to realize that Chris Terrio is in fact an academy award winning writer (bet he's never heard of Argo!). That said there's only so much he can be in charge of like in comicbook movies. BvS was controlled by Snyder (even tho he was governed by the studio) so there's only so much Terrio can recommend to a director, likewise with Rise of Skywalker. But what about Terrio's work on the Zack Snyder cut???? He's writer of that one too btw DUH! As far as I'm concerned the messiness of Rise of Skywalker is all on JJ, not Terrio.
I am a fan of Doomcock, but the erasure rumors were not his finest moments. I remember all the hubub around Grogu's choice in Book of Boba Fett and thinking, "This is B.S., Grogu is ALREADY Luke's student, if he can leave now he can leave later, and the way they'll rationalize it is he is Luke's student personally and not a student of his Jedi academy."
Plus he claimed they'd just dump the sequels in Legends. Legends is the branding title for the EU works that precede Disney. He reveals his own ignorance right there. That REALLY tightened my sphincter for the longest time, I'm so glad he's been proven to be full of shit, just a money-grubbing influencer.
@@saberiandream316 You overestimate Disney if you think they care enough about continuity for that to be an issue. It's not continuity that's keeping the sequels in place, it's pride. The people who made TLJ see it as an ideological masterpiece. Backing off of it would be a humiliation to them and the board that backed them. The only way the sequels get canned is the same way the EU became Legends: if Star Wars is under new ownership. Nobody sees that happening as of yet (maybe Apple by way of the FTX scandal, but honestly, who thinks they'd be any better?). Regarding TRoS leaks, I'm not sure how "ownership" of a leak works. If the info is legit, then how can Danny claim it only leaked once? Why can two leaks not happen? Doomcock may not have the best Star Wars record, but he's been spot on (if overly optimistic lately) with Indy5 so far. And really, his launching pad was Star Trek, not LucasFilm. Doomcock is not shy about stressing that he reports unverified rumors and that false info does happen. But if he was just making stuff up, he wouldn't have gotten under Hollywood's skin to the point where She-Hulk felt the need to take a shot at him.
Ya know????

I view ROS as the 2nd and 3rd act into one as TLJ didn't really do anything as a 2nd act. Watching this movie made me wish JJ was in charge of the whole ST. They didn't need a plan but they needed a unified vision. I do understand people not liking it, but when it comes to the behind the scenes logistics I can't blame JJ for IX. I blame Kennedy for not having a plan and a vision and Rian for TLJ.
Hang on back up….you’ve seen his Colin Ts final draft?
@@billmcdermott9647 I haven't, but Jason Ward from Making Star Wars Net, who has accurate scoops going back to TFA in 2013-2014, has details on what Trevorrow was going to have in his final draft.
@@jamestyler3606 thanks he sounds like a very knowledgeable guy…l
I agree he still did a bad job for episode 9 but yeah it was a horrible job to take no one good make a satisfying movie the first 2 messed it up too much
Trevorrow's script at least felt like a natural continuation and closing of the sequel trilogy. Sorry but stop giving JJ a pass on this movie. Was he in a difficult situation because of TLJ? yes. Doesn't excuse this piss poor screenplay that looks like it was written by a 5 year old.
They tried to say that "Skywalker" is a way of life and not a family. Jedi fits that well more, but they kept mushing them together
3 years later and this film still feels like something a 3 year old wrote while playing with his Star Wars toys. The fact that Disney read this screenplay & greenlit it is apalling
Rise of Skywalker is way worse than The Last Jedi.
"Don't throw all your eggs in one basket."
This movie personifies exactly why that expression exists.
Disney: Here is the book to explain!
Geekdom: No F*ck you!
Dark empire was an awesome graphic novel, strongly recommend checking it out.
So happy iger is back to make more messes
The Thor franchise is better than the sequel trilogy.
Interesting how they haven't bothered to make anything that has to do with their trilogy...
I’m not even lie Danny, I love your videos but the ones where you shit on whatever you’re talking about out when you go on a rant are my favorite videos you’re hilarious guy
Memories
I tried to watch this movie on disney+ and I quit as soon as the lady in the purple armor showed up.
I actually listened to your spoiler leak, a couple of weeks before it hit theatres. I went to see it anyway with a Similar feeling.
TLJ was so shit that I didn't bother with this one, and every clip i've seen from it makes me feel vindicated in making that decision.
Please go finish Andor, the first couple episodes are really boring but it really starts to get pretty awesome and the finale is just fantastic and I'm now in the boat that it may be one of the best Star Wars things in a long time
The entire series is the best Star Wars thing, period.
I second this, especially episode 6 and so on along with the story arc involving episode 8, 9 and 10. It also changes your viewing of Rogue One in a whole new different level
Yeah I remember the Fortnite thing that was just so weird 😂
The only thing good about this movie was that it ended.
That, and the trailer...
I prefer Dark Empire. It tells the story of Palpatine's return far better.
The Force Awakens: Star Wars fans. We're home
Last Jedi: it sucks now?
Rise of Skywalker: It sucks now!
“somehow , palpatine returned.”
I think it’s fun to watch if you turn your brain off. At least the first half.
My man's doesn't like andor wtf
@Julian “Jules” R I’ve seen reviewers who kept saying that Andor will be a bad show after watching the trailers but after watching the entire episodes, they finally admitted that they’re wrong about Andor and ended up liking the show. Heck, even Critical Drinker enjoys the show too!
Please do a retrospect of the matrix films
How does a company fumble the bag so badly?
No amount of time can save this horrible movie. It was always bad and now its probably worse
More like Rise of Palpatine lmao
ROS is sloppy, but it has a lot of good concepts and fun moments. I really don’t think we could have got much better of an outcome after TLJ - that movie completely derailed the ST. The biggest mistake they made with ROS was trying to cram it all into 1 movie, should have made it 2 parts
13:37 She wasn't a daughter of a Palpatine clone. She was his (not a clone) granddaughter. His son I guess he had off screen had his own family.
@Alex Ah. Okay. Thanks for the clarification!
You'd only know that if you're reading the new EU, and there's only, like, six people doing that. I sure as hell stick to Legends for the EU side of the property.
Remember that time Rian Johnson was interviewed on world of geekdom... yeah... good times 🥲

@@wendelleasports Same, bro, I was literally in tears! Thanks for directing me to that 🤣
I’ve thought about this for a while, but what are your thoughts on the idea of Star Wars getting a clean slate? Like, give a whole new universe with a new batch of characters away from the Skywalkers and everything else. I know this might sound like a sacrilege idea but I feel like Star Wars needs this. Star Wars being creatively bankrupt at this point is solely because Disney is catering to nostalgia.
Old heads wouldn’t be down for that unfortunately
@@fairyboy444 Yeah I know… funny enough I’m an old school Star Wars fan myself and I honestly think this is the only way to save Star Wars because in all honesty I’m getting burnt out with the same old same old content. I want something new. At least Star Wars Visions did something different with a some of their stuff.
@@OdaNobunaga15
The thing is with japan content with anime/ manga/ novels especially is banked pumping out unique stuff because everyone is in competitive environments where stuff can get cancel on a dime edue to not people buying the book/ they also put more effort in their work as well.
I wonder if it would be possible to take all 3 movies, and just re-edit them into a single 2-3 hour movie and keep the overall story intact.
I like episode 9 we got even though it was rushed, sloppy. It was more of a fun ride then episode 8. The emperor says he died before in Ros.
But D, I thought the movie did a fine job explaining it: "Somehow, Palpatine returned."
At 9:11 is exactly how I feel lord D 🙏 🙌
That's a damn shame of how they executed so poorly.
The whole refer to the books and comics for more info gimmick worked for original trilogy because those were the first star wars movies ever made so naturally people were eager to know more and defenders of the sequels usually point to this. But the thing is since then star wars had become a huge property with many tie in comics, video games, novels etc, plenty of lore developed already such strategy will not work anymore and filmmakers need to take those things into account when making a new movie.
depending on what the handicap is.. its ok to tell someone to be quiet in a theatre
I can’t believe this movie was one Watchmojo’s top 10 movies of 2019 list. 🤦🏻♂️
I think rise of skywalker was the worst of the sequels. (Sequel trilogy were just bad)
When the name rise of skywalker was revealed, I was hoping luke was going to rise coming back to life somehow.
The smart thing they should had done was bring luke back and snoke
For me, even is it wasn’t cannon , it still would make me upset because it’s official Star Wars content and so, that decision with Luke’s character still happened, even if they made an excuse of it being in another timeline.
You think they will do a movie of the child from mandalorian and continue to save stars wars movies
Tbh, I'd prefer that over more twisted, mutilated, bastardized Legends.
When Lukes ghost caught the lightsaber and smirked during that line I dead ass was expecting him to 4th wall and wink at the camera and for that fucking scene a lone and some TLJ stans getting their emotions rocked I give TROS high marks
Ben Solo was the best thing about this movie and they killed him.
But Lucasfilm only cares about the normies, so nobody listened to the older fans.
maybe just me i prefer Rey as a Palpatine than a skywalker lol
The only way I can see them reversing the damaging is if they use the World between Worlds to give themselves a chance to “GT”afy the sequel trilogy
Never gonna happen, that would require they admitting they made a mistake. Plus they want to double down on that "trying to please everybody" niche and so wind up pleasing nobody.
It would be the only way. I never thought I’d see the day where an entire trilogy would not only destroy itself ms but destroy the previous trilogies before it so badly that it would be better if the new trilogy didn’t exist at all
Their politics got in the way and ruined something beautiful..
God nine is so bad. I went to see it with my brother and turned to him maybe an hour into it and said this movie sucks. It barely got better.
Andor is terrific though.
Dawg no way it's been 3 years, I swear this movie came out last year. I liked this movie regardless of how ass it was lol
Three years since the last printed Legends, too.
i was sad too. if they would have atleast said a real snoke still alive and kylo killed a snoke clone; atleast they could have swung it that snoke planned for kylo to strike the clone to “complete his training or some bs”. i agree 1-6 are the definitive story. my favs are ep 3 and 5
I am fine with some people hating this movie, but the stuff people say about the sequels being retconned because of this movie, makes my blood boil.
I'm not gonna even defend or berate this movie as others have. My lips are sealed.
This is the only Star Wars movie I’ve ever been genuinely disappointed by when I walked out of the theater after seeing it. It really was that bad.
You are forbidden to hate ANY Star Wars movie.

Yeah this was not the best…sigh so much potential with these movies man :(
There is literally no future for star wars after this movie
Confirmed by the fact that there hasn't been a movie since.
whether we like it or not, I believe most of this new generation will love the Sequel Trilogy (🤮) due to nostalgia as they grew up with it.
The prequels seem more beloved to kids these days than the sequels do. Where do you think all the Filoniverse shit has come from?
Let's not forget how the return of Palpatine occurs, not in the movie, but in a Fortnite event
I think the story is genuinely good, the plot is mid, but the execution is complete shit.
I liked Rise of Skywalker better when it was Dark Empire, and they told that story with Luke, Han, and Leia ALL the way back in 1991 then...
I am al;so left....well... I don't care for it anymore. Ever. I will wait for something that does do it.
The worst blockbuster movie of all time
For me, the Heir to the Empire trilogy, Jedi Academy Trilogy, NJO, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi novels are the real sequels.
A case of listening TOO MUCH lol. And proved JJ has NO ORIGINAL IDEAS.
I think the Jurassic World trilogy has more respect to the source material and legacy characters than the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Somehow... discussing The Rise of Skywalker returned
Doomcock is a total clown
