im an old bayfox member from 2017 before arlen obtained them, the difference with bayfoxes are their subspecies AND the idea of having more creativity. take a look at waterdogs, myos cannot have specific water colors and fur colors! however bayfoxes let anyone use any traits as long as they have the items (which can be obtained via art very easily)! also one of the ideas of buying a closed species oc is NOT because of the design (in waterdog's at least) but rather the TITLE. yes people can still like the designd but titles have price tags on them. waterdogs are known to be so expensive for minors and bayfoxes are seen as a step below for the them without paypals or lots of money. the waterdog community is mostly adults and older teens with at least $45 spare money for a very limited design depending on the cost. if someone is trading a waterdog, people with money would take a peak however bayfoxes arent looked for! yeah waterdogs and bays used to have a heated past but it seems like both are neutral and can coexist. bayfoxes are for the kids while waterdogs are for the older people :) waterdog people and bay people actually sometimes visit eachother's communities and tend to stay in the original one they were in so you are incorrect about people leaving at least that specie.

but still you're saying that children who can't afford a waterdog are moving over to bayfoxes in order to get a character with a very basic trait- a water pattern. I'm glad that they got over whatever disputes they had, but clearly it was for a reason. I also hadn't known much about bayfoxes, so I was speaking mostly from someone who didn't know the deep dive into species that looked very similar if not the same at times. if they are a subspecies of waterdogs then that wasn't made clear, but that's good on them to do that (although I think it's a bad idea considering it's possible to accidentally make the closed species counterpart), but if it's a subspecies of *another* species, then that's on me. I read just about everything I could from the main page, and left it at that. I also didn't want to label bayfoxes as an "offbrand", just an example of a species that took a concept from an already existing species and used it for gain
