I’ll admit, I’m on a tight budget sometimes, but I don’t let it stop me wearing my flannel shirt and a pair of jeans with a chest rig on. I’ve actually seen folks on field asking for more bbs from other players which kinda blows my mind. I’m pretty thankful that I’m at least able to afford some fuel, entrance fee, bbs, and some grub after a long game. It’s good appreciate the little things especially in airsoft.

Fr, there’s 1 kid at my field who has like an £1000 bolster armouries M4 with a custom gearbox and parts and that, then there’s me with £200 Double Eagle Honey Badger M904G who is just there to have fun then that kid gets pissed every time he gets shot and he’s a noob level player. Mate so am I but I don’t get pissed every time I get shot, I just shake it up and move on.

Recently I was playing with a guy who bought the cheapest Sniper rifle which could be upgraded to reasonable standard, upgraded it pretty well and then slapped shitty DIY suppressor which just changed the trajectory and made then gun completely useless. Also he bought not one but two ghillie suits (the first one was just a regular uniform with plastic leaves, second one was a proper one, he wore them both at the same time in a quite hot day) and put some camo on his gun. Needless to say gun had completely different camo pattern but there is more - he tried to play as an assault sniper. So we’ve had this giant completely helpless walking bush to shoot at.
"assault sniper" had me rolling. Reminds me of the times when Novritsch was popping up with his first videos and people I knew went crazy for bolt actions and some actually bought cheap JGs or WELLs VSRs... Only to fail miserably at the role because they were not Novy. This mixed with the, then recent, release of American Sniper created a myth of a "God Mode" if you bought a 80€ BA. Good times tbh

When I was 12-13 and too broke to buy anything, my loadout for playing with friends was a pump action shotgun that came with the springer pistol as well as .12 green clear bbs, a hoodie and jeans, winter gloves, sunglasses my dad gave me, a backwards hat, and a mask i made from cardboard and duct tape because I didnt want to lose any teeth. Good times, fun memories, but having good gear now and playing at La Vernia airsoft on sundays is far superior haha
When i started airsoft (i was 11) in 2009 there was less of a gap between "rich" and "poors" airsoft wasnt as expensive, $250 was the highest price i was seeing for most things, nowadays the gap is so big because of inflation and due to korean and chinese laws, most of the companys from my childhood either went under and were charged with criminal charges or went so high market that the prices doubled, airsoft has gotten better but is also has gotten worse too.
M8, I had metal hydrate batteries taped to the outside of my old famas. One main, one spare, and holes drilled in the furniture so the cables could reach. US helmet, british army helmet cover, French plate carrier with Osprey 2 SAPI carriers, viper tac mag pouches. I was glorious. But I've heard what you have to say so now I've upgraded. To maintain consistent clothes, camo boiler suit, matching wide brimmed hat, since the bolier suit has so many pockets I no longer require a plate carrier. Since batteries are an issue, I have replaced the FAMAS with bolt action rifle in lime green. Unfortunately, now that I have spent so much money I will need to use floor BBs for both ammo and sustenance for the next few games.

My 3300mah nimh battery in my fullstock AK was a thing of glory. I played shooting-heavy weekends that that beauty and never missed a beat, needed a charge or (more importantly) caught fire. 2006 was a time of wonders, and I regret nothing.
Why spend money when you can just pretend to cosplay as a scav and make an IKEA rig and wear it with ponpon, random baclava, and cheapest trash that has full auto on it. Only so you can spend the rest of your budget on vodka to use that full auto to it's fullest before it breaks.
Guilty as charged for #3. Got a multicam vest, desert digi-camo pants, and a regular desert camo shirt. To top it all off, my pouches are a mix-match of green and multicam because I either cant find muticam pouches or dont want to pay 25$ per pouch for them.
I can say from 1st hand experience we were a pretty motley crew when we went into Iraq in 03. Woodland Interceptors over DCU was the standard (if you were lucky). Some NG/reserve units deployed in full woodland with Vietnam-era flak vests.
I’m gonna type out my own thoughts as I see each point, so this’ll be fun 1.Seeing that MP5 with the battery taped to the side makes me a little bit rabid considering they might have the stock that would allow that battery to fit. 2. My cousin used to do this shit, then I got too broke to cover both of us so I stopped playing for a while to recoup and chew his ass out for it. 3. That same cousin also mix matched his gear, a lot of it was bright combat fatigues that he claims have seen real firefights though he never was actually deployed, his M4 always had drum mags so he could call it an M4-29 (which was annoying to fight against, most of my teammates would give up and find another opponent to battle with while I tried to pick him off with my MP5, outgunned to hell and back). Those didn’t help him on the dark CQB environment of the field we played at, while all of my gear was also mixed, it all tied together as a sort of militia-like loadout 4. Those batteries are for one thing and one thing only: old Tamiya rc kits. That’s it. Not even worth working one up to an airsoft replica regardless of how old or new it is. 5. I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve caught my other cousin using Amazon for airsoft stuff, and honestly I’m a little guilty of it myself (only for cheap bbs I can send down my backyard though). I keep sending the Evike link at him and he has gotten better at avoiding Amazon and EBay Also, the Focus sedans aren’t THAT bad! Wait, mines covered in dirt from treating it as a rally car (as all Focus owners should, send it through gravel!”
im a broke airsofter, my plate inserts are made of cardboard, i save money where i can, meaning i look at the cheapest options but do more research on them to see if im getting the bang for my buck
I haven't played any airsoft in forever but the battery taping brought back memories of my high school days. Buddy of mine had a JG HK33 or whoever was making clones of those back then and his stock snapped off. The thing had a pretty long battery cable so we just tied it onto the handguard lmao
I taped a bigger and better battery to the side of my mp7 because 1 the gun came with the dinkiest 7.2v battery i’ve ever seen in my life and haven’t found one in stock anywhere else, 2 i forgot to check the better battery’s dimensions so it came in and didn’t fit :(, and 3 i cannot for the life of me find ANY battery that is better and will actually fit in the smallest 3x1 battery compartment i’ve ever seen in my entire life
i was so broke at one point that i just started showing up with my stock pistol (XP18 Commander running CO2) with a single mag for a few months straight and it really grew on me

I tape the battery to the side of the gun not because I’m poor, but because I have an Arcturus Ak with a gate titan, making it impossible to put even the smallest batteries INSIDE the gun

I definitely guilty of Number 3, for mags at least. Use to be the case for The rest of my loadout but I moved from the East cost US to The desert, so new kit was mandatory if I didn't want to look like the grinch in the desert.
Thing I attempted to spend the most money on was my face protection, I should probably look into ear protection as well- whether it's an "operator" headset or just some mesh. there's not many airsoft fields where I am, but I'll be moving to Canada and I think I'll really enjoy the outdoor fields, I'm much of an outdoor person. Which unfortunately means I can't bring my M14 or my bolt action- but that's ok, my brother will have more to enjoy it in his childhood- if my mother or father ever takes him at least.
Easy and free fix. Earwigs. They are cold and need somewhere warm to stay so they already want to live in your ears, they also clean out your earwax because it gets caught on their feet so they don’t like it. They can also protect your eardrum ofc because the bb hits them instead of your ear.

I always went for a more Militia/Guerilla fighter aesthetic over the MilTac Big Boy approach. Keep it light, keep it clean, and always think one step ahead of the opposing team in that regards ;)
I bought an Airsoft Rifle for a few reasons. Simulating combats wasn't one of them. Although thanks to the store I bought it at and RUclips I may consider spending a weekend at a local site. Anyways, I was thinking the Militia/Guerilla route for financial reasons and I was in the military already. I'm no longer military so militia/guerilla would be more appropriate.

That nimh battery diss hit me hard 🥲, Ive seen several vids about how dangerous lipos can be if not treated properly and I gravitate more towards personal safety than performance of my weapons. I may invest in one lipo ready gun down the road, but I'm rockin just fine with my nimh battery guns for now 🤞

i spent $470 on my helmet its a multicam setup and $560 on my rifle and everything else like my od green "tac vest" and my multicam war belt with nothing on it also dont have any camo because im still dumping money into my rifle so i use some od green 5.11 pants and a 5.11 red flannel shirt and i use the molle on my tan backpack straps to hold all the stuff that i have that should have on a plate carrier but dont have one
use old luggage or bags to transport ALL your stuff, use a ziptie as a sling point, use old luggage carry straps as a one/two point sling, leave the Co2 cartridge more than a week con a magazine, the "man can i buy this thing from you in small payments", using home depo knee pads (this one is a pass for me at least, those knees can be easily damage). and many more... take your pick.
0:05 I really can't relate. I try my best to not look tacticool but like an Insurgent or middle eastern soldier. I don't even get to use a sidearm. Any1 else doing this? My rifle is just an AKMS on which I can't even mount optics on.
I use a "hunter camo" long sleeve shirt and pants and a black dye mask. Standing with all the other people, i look ridiculous. But in game, get up against a tree just right with some foliage and I disappear. Except for the dye mask.
I think taping a battery is actually a pro level move. To me it shows that you've been playing for a while and don't care about looks, have had every gun from low level to high end, and u just want something that functions and works for you. Which probably means ur a very good sport and a blast to play with.
My favorite broke airsofter moment was stuffing McDonalds paper towels into the gap between my inner and outer barrel. At that time i didnt think anyone was making or made the O-Rings we see people use today, but it absolutely worked. my grouping would go from a trishot at 50m to consistently hitting dead center. Definitely good for outdoor and if you're barely getting started with a stock aeg and want to improve accuracy.
i bought the same m4 recently then bought a broken full metal krytac pdw for $50 and cahnges some parts and it works great the only issue i had is the battery dident fit so i 3d printed an extender for the stock

When I started airsoft my mistakes were: 1. a cheap G36C - cheap plastic body, plastic gearbox, NimH battery 2. cheap gear - Miltec jacket, MFH combat pants, MFH vest which you showed, cheap goggles - pants ripped the second game day After that I saved up and bought my current equipment. Among other things 18 weapons (2 AEG, 1 HPA, 4 pistols gas operated, 1 sniper rifle, 10 gas operated rifles)

Done, I got an old malfunctioning revolver and I ended up backseatsniping with a pistol. Was I useful? No, was it comically fun having a guy with a revolver charge at you? Yes for everyone involved. Make airsoft fun not try to be the best performing or best looking. Do your thing. And if that involves abusing a frying pan as plate carrier and run an old sixshooter Ill do that
I used to photograph in my late teens. A paintball place asked me to come to take photos for their website.. They literally demanded that i should pay the field fee (about 50 bucks!) to be allowed to enter the field to photograph... lol what? My first airsoft was a lime green hopper fed zombie slayer m4. Plastic gears and everything. Took it to a place in Tennessee and wrecked the pros. Springer makarov and fake eye pro. Total cost of $80 got me into my first game. Been playing for 8 or so years now and I’m grateful I had to struggle in the beginning. My current setup is too good.
As a broke airsoft player, I can say without a doubt I only fall into the "gear off Amazon" category. Bought a AK, a pistol, vest, 2 mags, 15k bbs, and a face mask for under $100 with my gift cards. I also just run out there in sweatpants from nike and a sweatshirt I got from my air rifle team. Funniest thing to happen to me was in a picture at a field, EVERYONE else was in full gear with camo and all that (and someone in a ghillie suit), and then there is just me with an almost all plastic AK and a blue sweatshirt.
Here's a list 1. I ran an EGLM on my SCAR since I thought it was cool. None of my shells worked since I didn't understand how to fix them back then 2. I ran a tan Black PC with tan and green pouches to 'break up the silhouette. 3. I thought having one kit complete hit means you can coast for the rest of the time you play. I have like 8 different and variant kits depending on what gun(s) I run that day.
Oof. I usedto have one of those batteries. That black one at 7:37. I only had it because it came with a thompson I bought. I need to get better ones, but I might consider just selling the gun at the next NAF. I got something potentially better coming soon.
Fun fact, in Poland the most common camo avaible is WZ2010 123UP, we have that small problem that pants and shirt will never be in the same tone (same with other type of gear)

Military surplus is better for airsoft than a lot of actual airsoft gear because of price and load bearing capability
Agreed. A lot of my gears are from military surplus stores, since I mostly doing reenactment.
My older brother was in the Marines for 4 years and he gave me his bullet proof helmet and it fit my head it heavy but a great piece of gear

Guilty as charged for #3. Got a multicam vest, desert digi-camo pants, and a regular desert camo shirt. To top it all off, my pouches are a mix-match of green and multicam because I either cant find muticam pouches or dont want to pay 25$ per pouch for them.
I wear whatever I pieced together from paintball lots I bought on eBay.
I can say from 1st hand experience we were a pretty motley crew when we went into Iraq in 03. Woodland Interceptors over DCU was the standard (if you were lucky). Some NG/reserve units deployed in full woodland with Vietnam-era flak vests.

I’m gonna type out my own thoughts as I see each point, so this’ll be fun
1.Seeing that MP5 with the battery taped to the side makes me a little bit rabid considering they might have the stock that would allow that battery to fit.
2. My cousin used to do this shit, then I got too broke to cover both of us so I stopped playing for a while to recoup and chew his ass out for it.
3. That same cousin also mix matched his gear, a lot of it was bright combat fatigues that he claims have seen real firefights though he never was actually deployed, his M4 always had drum mags so he could call it an M4-29 (which was annoying to fight against, most of my teammates would give up and find another opponent to battle with while I tried to pick him off with my MP5, outgunned to hell and back). Those didn’t help him on the dark CQB environment of the field we played at, while all of my gear was also mixed, it all tied together as a sort of militia-like loadout
4. Those batteries are for one thing and one thing only: old Tamiya rc kits. That’s it. Not even worth working one up to an airsoft replica regardless of how old or new it is.
5. I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve caught my other cousin using Amazon for airsoft stuff, and honestly I’m a little guilty of it myself (only for cheap bbs I can send down my backyard though). I keep sending the Evike link at him and he has gotten better at avoiding Amazon and EBay

I haven't played any airsoft in forever but the battery taping brought back memories of my high school days. Buddy of mine had a JG HK33 or whoever was making clones of those back then and his stock snapped off. The thing had a pretty long battery cable so we just tied it onto the handguard lmao

I taped a bigger and better battery to the side of my mp7 because 1 the gun came with the dinkiest 7.2v battery i’ve ever seen in my life and haven’t found one in stock anywhere else, 2 i forgot to check the better battery’s dimensions so it came in and didn’t fit :(, and 3 i cannot for the life of me find ANY battery that is better and will actually fit in the smallest 3x1 battery compartment i’ve ever seen in my entire life
i was so broke at one point that i just started showing up with my stock pistol (XP18 Commander running CO2) with a single mag for a few months straight and it really grew on me
Now i am a renowned owner of an imported FNX45 with a 16mm thread (god why)

But I can relate to a lot of these like needing to use nimhs to run my BAR as it can't stomach lipos and my cyma m16 is a Frankenstein of parts.

Anything can run a 9.6 nimh battery or a 7.4 lipo battery, it's an 11.1 lipo you need a MOSFET for or it will burn out your trigger contacts

I tape the battery to the side of the gun not because I’m poor, but because I have an Arcturus Ak with a gate titan, making it impossible to put even the smallest batteries INSIDE the gun

I definitely guilty of Number 3, for mags at least. Use to be the case for The rest of my loadout but I moved from the East cost US to The desert, so new kit was mandatory if I didn't want to look like the grinch in the desert.

Thing I attempted to spend the most money on was my face protection, I should probably look into ear protection as well- whether it's an "operator" headset or just some mesh. there's not many airsoft fields where I am, but I'll be moving to Canada and I think I'll really enjoy the outdoor fields, I'm much of an outdoor person. Which unfortunately means I can't bring my M14 or my bolt action- but that's ok, my brother will have more to enjoy it in his childhood- if my mother or father ever takes him at least.
Easy and free fix. Earwigs. They are cold and need somewhere warm to stay so they already want to live in your ears, they also clean out your earwax because it gets caught on their feet so they don’t like it. They can also protect your eardrum ofc because the bb hits them instead of your ear.

I bought an Airsoft Rifle for a few reasons. Simulating combats wasn't one of them. Although thanks to the store I bought it at and RUclips I may consider spending a weekend at a local site. Anyways, I was thinking the Militia/Guerilla route for financial reasons and I was in the military already. I'm no longer military so militia/guerilla would be more appropriate.

That nimh battery diss hit me hard 🥲, Ive seen several vids about how dangerous lipos can be if not treated properly and I gravitate more towards personal safety than performance of my weapons. I may invest in one lipo ready gun down the road, but I'm rockin just fine with my nimh battery guns for now 🤞

i spent $470 on my helmet its a multicam setup and $560 on my rifle and everything else like my od green "tac vest" and my multicam war belt with nothing on it also dont have any camo because im still dumping money into my rifle so i use some od green 5.11 pants and a 5.11 red flannel shirt and i use the molle on my tan backpack straps to hold all the stuff that i have that should have on a plate carrier but dont have one
There was one time I flanked the whole enemy time and start lighting them up turns out my mag was out the whole time 😭
use old luggage or bags to transport ALL your stuff, use a ziptie as a sling point, use old luggage carry straps as a one/two point sling, leave the Co2 cartridge more than a week con a magazine, the "man can i buy this thing from you in small payments", using home depo knee pads (this one is a pass for me at least, those knees can be easily damage). and many more... take your pick.

I use a "hunter camo" long sleeve shirt and pants and a black dye mask. Standing with all the other people, i look ridiculous. But in game, get up against a tree just right with some foliage and I disappear. Except for the dye mask.
I think taping a battery is actually a pro level move. To me it shows that you've been playing for a while and don't care about looks, have had every gun from low level to high end, and u just want something that functions and works for you. Which probably means ur a very good sport and a blast to play with.
My favorite broke airsofter moment was stuffing McDonalds paper towels into the gap between my inner and outer barrel. At that time i didnt think anyone was making or made the O-Rings we see people use today, but it absolutely worked. my grouping would go from a trishot at 50m to consistently hitting dead center. Definitely good for outdoor and if you're barely getting started with a stock aeg and want to improve accuracy.
i bought the same m4 recently then bought a broken full metal krytac pdw for $50 and cahnges some parts and it works great the only issue i had is the battery dident fit so i 3d printed an extender for the stock
I had a curse set up when I started playing airsoft I was in full UCP attire everything including a booney with M81 color scheme interceptor vest with the Kar 98K (shell ejecting) and a luger
When I started airsoft my mistakes were:
1. a cheap G36C - cheap plastic body, plastic gearbox, NimH battery
2. cheap gear - Miltec jacket, MFH combat pants, MFH vest which you showed, cheap goggles - pants ripped the second game day
After that I saved up and bought my current equipment. Among other things 18 weapons (2 AEG, 1 HPA, 4 pistols gas operated, 1 sniper rifle, 10 gas operated rifles)
After years of airsofting. I stop trying to gear up and just show up in a t shirt and shorts. 😂

I dont use the brick, but I use nunchuck batteries. A lot of guns are not lipo ready especially starter guns or mid range guns.
Was invited by a friend to play airsoft after the second time and I had no equipment. So I just asked: Hey man, govr me your oldest cheapest pistol and a mask. Done, I got an old malfunctioning revolver and I ended up backseatsniping with a pistol. Was I useful? No, was it comically fun having a guy with a revolver charge at you? Yes for everyone involved. Make airsoft fun not try to be the best performing or best looking. Do your thing. And if that involves abusing a frying pan as plate carrier and run an old sixshooter Ill do that

Back in the day we all taped batteries to our guns but the batts were 2-3 times the size they are now
My first airsoft was a lime green hopper fed zombie slayer m4. Plastic gears and everything. Took it to a place in Tennessee and wrecked the pros. Springer makarov and fake eye pro. Total cost of $80 got me into my first game. Been playing for 8 or so years now and I’m grateful I had to struggle in the beginning. My current setup is too good.
If my gun can't take 11.4 volt lipo and the most powerful battery it can take is 9.4 volt

As a broke airsoft player, I can say without a doubt I only fall into the "gear off Amazon" category. Bought a AK, a pistol, vest, 2 mags, 15k bbs, and a face mask for under $100 with my gift cards. I also just run out there in sweatpants from nike and a sweatshirt I got from my air rifle team.
Funniest thing to happen to me was in a picture at a field, EVERYONE else was in full gear with camo and all that (and someone in a ghillie suit), and then there is just me with an almost all plastic AK and a blue sweatshirt.
Theres a roach in the bathroom absolutely killed me💀😭
Here's a list
1. I ran an EGLM on my SCAR since I thought it was cool. None of my shells worked since I didn't understand how to fix them back then
2. I ran a tan Black PC with tan and green pouches to 'break up the silhouette.
3. I thought having one kit complete hit means you can coast for the rest of the time you play. I have like 8 different and variant kits depending on what gun(s) I run that day.
I haven't bought a new battery for years, so you know I'm the guy with the $800 GHK AUG (incl mags) but when I use an AEG, I'm on NiMh.
Just got my TTI TR-1 from Evike after 5 months of pre-ordering and waiting and this is advice is better than what I did back in 2011.

Oof. I usedto have one of those batteries. That black one at 7:37. I only had it because it came with a thompson I bought. I need to get better ones, but I might consider just selling the gun at the next NAF. I got something potentially better coming soon.
Fun fact, in Poland the most common camo avaible is WZ2010 123UP, we have that small problem that pants and shirt will never be in the same tone (same with other type of gear)
