THANK YOU! Thank you for not making them *modern,* for not making the contrast screaming black, for not replacing the pulls, for not spraying them with gold paint, and for bringing these beauties back to life. Such gorgeous work!
There are some things that should absolutely be modernized to ensure they remain in use. Designers back then made mistakes too. But there are also some pieces, like these, that just look SO much better refreshed, and as the designer intended.
I’m at a loss for words to describe how beautiful these night stands are now. Your artistry and attention to detail makes every piece that you redo, outstanding.
This vanity looks so much like part of my grandmother’s 1920’s bedroom suite! I’m so glad you were able to restore the wood. Your skill at matching the color and wood grain, was in evidence once again. Absolutely beautiful work. I’m sure you will agree, that this wouldn’t have come out as well, without your helper. His tapping your hand to remind you of “Lefty loosie, righty tightness”, was such sound advice!
Oh. My. Gosh. How beautiful !!! Thank you for saving and restoring them to their former glory! Maybe they won’t fetch much now but you have enabled future generations to appreciate art deco style! ❤
You're a true artist!! I love that you appreciate the furniture pieces that you find and the degree to which you go to bring them back to their original beauty! Wonderful that these pieces won't be lost to future generations as I'm sure that this piece will have at least another 50 years of life & love in its future also. Thank you!
I was so happy to see your video today! I was actually hit in the head with a 2x4 while working on my bathroom remodel. You (and Nacho) turned my day right around. 😊
OUCH Liz!! Are you ok??? That made me cringe. I'm glad we could improve your day - I really hope you aren't hurt too badly. Thank you for watching and be safe!!
STUNNING! You chose just the right products to bring out the wood grain. The rich wood grains contrasted with the clean curved lines really captures the spirit of the age. Nice work, yet again. Thank you for sharing them!
I love this era of furniture! It's so inspiring to see the transformation you create! When I buy "real" furniture someday, this is what I hope for. Even with damaged surfaces, furniture from this era is so beautiful! Thanks for your channel!!!
Your kitty is custom matched to your office, so cute. Always impressive, the reveal always makes me say "wow!" If you resell pieces, I hope you get paid well for the restoration process, it's way beyond a flip, and your time and expertise is truly at professional artist level.
Gorgeous transformation. I love Art Deco....especially the waterfall look. Also, what you call "Book End" veneers, we call "Butterfly" veneers. It is used primarily on vanity tops and the effect is usually gorgeous!
I really love watching a great craftperson --really, an artist--do this work. Such a pleasure to hear how your skill, judgment, and taste come into play. And the results--wow. Hats off.
These looks so incredible! I just wanna give you a high five😁. I'm amazed how good you did that patch, that was as good as thomas Johnson. It was absolutely right call to restore them like this. You're an great advocate for Odies. Started to look for oils to refinish our teak dining table. And I found a place that sells Odies here in Sweden. Yay!!
Blown away! It really was so satisfying to see the end result of this restoration project. I'm glad these did not end up in the hands of another "flip-painter". They get a new 3rd life in very different presentation as a pair (with love breathed into them) which was probably as good as their 1st life as a vanity.
I love it just as you did this one Trancender. I love to restore old neglected hidden wood grain back near to what the original craftsman chose in the first place. But I gotta tell you . . . I am done watching your videos girl. Just about the time I'm pretty sure I will try to tackle something harder, I watch your ability to fill and remove stains and transform those areas.
well done, they look amazing the way they were intended to be... showing off the beautiful wood grains. You do a spectacular job bring the old back to new..
Absolutly amaxing hardwork. Thank you for letting the wood show it's true beatty. I love the contrasts Most times less is more. And this the perfect example. Simple but absolutly stunning gorgeous. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
While I have no issue with paint, some pieces beg to be restored. These were two of them. That wood grain is out of this world and deserves to be shown off. 🙂
I believe that my mom had a duplicate of this vanity, and I have a matching dresser down in my basement. The original handles were cheap plastic and broke easily early in the life of the furniture. They then had two halves that young children (me) would spin which made the marks you found under your handles. I have a problem with my dresser in that it is very difficult to find handles of the same width. I currently have nobs in one and the other spot is left blank. Your restoration is beautiful. It makes me think I should get busy and do the same with my dresser.
When I was young 50+ years ago we had the full vanity with the mirror but the more modern idea of 2 night stands and a wall mirror is much more practicle. Those vanities broke very easily. And were difficult to find a space for. Very clumsy. In my room we did have the night stands which were very old and had a self high up for your shoes and a bigger space underneath for a chamber pot. Thank God we had modern plumbing. 😁 I dont know if this is feasible for your work but I have seen videos where the restorer used a sheet of plastic wrap over pieces where they put stripper on to I presume to keep the stripper from drying. Maybe this will help you when you are very busy. 🤔 I am not sure but maybe you could try an experiment to see if this helps. Those are beautiful night stands and I am sure that they will be popular in the market. Great job as usual. There is so much negative news at the moment that to watch you work is not only a great escape but you give some useful tips. Thank you and best wishes to you and your fur babies.
Circa 1850 only takes about a minute to actually work so it would technically slow me down by covering it. For less potent strippers, it is beneficial though. Thanks for watching!
Totally stunning. I think these are timeless and will fit in with even the most modern decor. PS: I'm also a big fan of painted furniture, but I'm convinced you made the right call with these little beauties.
Thank you for staying true to its original Art Deco beauty! You honor the original artists who designed and crafted it, and added you own artistry by bringing it to life. You do excellent work. ❤
Hello Thank you very much for your super good tutorials, I have watched a few of your tutorials in the last few days. You really do a fantastic job. Keep up the good work! I'm already looking forward to your next work. Many thanks again.
I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. But I like to restore certain woods whenever possible. 🙂 THESE pieces though- these are a no-brainer for me. That wood grain is out of this world!
Only one word can describe it, STUNNING! I love Art Decò furniture, and I can't think of when, or where, have seen such gorgeous pieces. Needless to say, you did a phenomenal job. In keeping the finish natural the effect is exactly what the artisan intended. You also have a great voice for narration. 😃 Cheers!
You do such lovely work. It a pity the center drawer and mirror to the dressing table were not available, as they would've made a great little hallway table.
This is spectacular! The love and respect for these beautiful pieces is fantastic! I’m new to refinishing and this is pure inspiration that I can bring to life two key pieces and still be respectful.

I wholeheartedly concur with Molly 😊😊 Angie, you worked your magic again - these stands look fabulous !!
Amen!
Oh yes, beautiful! 🤗👍💖
I’m at a loss for words to describe how beautiful these night stands are now. Your artistry and attention to detail makes every piece that you redo, outstanding.
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Absolutely gorgeous! I’m so glad you chose to go with the original look
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful job. That finish was much too fine to cover. Thanks.

Oh absolutely! It's a good thing I have him to remind me. 😉😺 Thanks so much for watching!
Those tables were born to be in the beautiful condition you achieved. This may be my favorite flip ever. Absolutely spectacular!!!!
Wow, thank you so very much!! I really appreciate that!
They shimmer! Absolutely GORGEOUS 😍 ❤️
Thank you so much!
Oh. My. Gosh. How beautiful !!! Thank you for saving and restoring them to their former glory! Maybe they won’t fetch much now but you have enabled future generations to appreciate art deco style! ❤
The person who bought them is actually putting them in an old Victorian that is being restored. 😊
You're a true artist!! I love that you appreciate the furniture pieces that you find and the degree to which you go to bring them back to their original beauty! Wonderful that these pieces won't be lost to future generations as I'm sure that this piece will have at least another 50 years of life & love in its future also. Thank you!
You're so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching!
These are too beautiful to tuck away in a seldom visited bedroom! They need to be front and center for everyone to enjoy!
Thank you so much for watching! 🙂
I was so happy to see your video today! I was actually hit in the head with a 2x4 while working on my bathroom remodel. You (and Nacho) turned my day right around. 😊

Dear Liz Burgess,
I, too, hope for your quick and complete recovery. 👍🌹
STUNNING! You chose just the right products to bring out the wood grain. The rich wood grains contrasted with the clean curved lines really captures the spirit of the age. Nice work, yet again. Thank you for sharing them!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you like them!
Just absolutely floored and blown away by this transformation. What an incredible labor of love ! Your talent is just limitless.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
I love Nacho's little orange toes ❤.
Another gorgeous restoration! I swear it's like therapy watching your videos.
Awe, thank you! I'm so glad to hear that!
I love this era of furniture! It's so inspiring to see the transformation you create! When I buy "real" furniture someday, this is what I hope for. Even with damaged surfaces, furniture from this era is so beautiful! Thanks for your channel!!!
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoy my content! Thanks so much for watching.
Wow! So glad you restored to their “original “ glory! They are stunning!
Thanks so much for watching!
Wow, just beautiful! That patch you made from a piece of random veneer matching perfectly with the existing wood grain was amazing.
Thank you very much!
Your kitty is custom matched to your office, so cute. Always impressive, the reveal always makes me say "wow!" If you resell pieces, I hope you get paid well for the restoration process, it's way beyond a flip, and your time and expertise is truly at professional artist level.
Yes this is my full time job. Thanks so much for watching!
Gorgeous transformation. I love Art Deco....especially the waterfall look. Also, what you call "Book End" veneers, we call "Butterfly" veneers. It is used primarily on vanity tops and the effect is usually gorgeous!
Thank you very much! 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous!! I personally love the original finish!!
Thank you very much for the feedback!
I really love watching a great craftperson --really, an artist--do this work. Such a pleasure to hear how your skill, judgment, and taste come into play. And the results--wow. Hats off.

They get a new 3rd life in very different presentation as a pair (with love breathed into them) which was probably as good as their 1st life as a vanity.
That wood grain really needed to be restored if it could be - it's out of this world! Thank you so much for watching!
They look great . I love old furniture also , sometimes the original way is the best .
I absolutely agree. Some wood grain just begged to be saved if it can be! 🙂
That wood GLOWS!
Thank you so much!
Those are absolutely gorgeous! They look brand new! You did a fantastic job! Blessings and Peace ✝️❤️
Thank you so much for watching!
I really never liked this style very much, but it's growing on me. You make these pieces look amazing. ❤
Oh thank you!
These are my favorite of all your work. I don't know why since everything you do is beautiful, but these just sing to me.
I loved these ones too! 😀
🤯🤯🤯 mind blowing! They look fantastic. Would love to have these as nightstands and headboard and dresser to match.
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you like them!!
Such a good decision keeping to the original beautiful style. It's a style that works so well it goes with many looks.
Thank you so much!!
I have two dressers with the waterfall style, so I loved these night stands (now).
These look amazing and as you are restoring and not up-cycling what you did is perfect
Thank you kindly! 🙂

I LOVE them! I’m glad you honoured the style of the era. They’re gorgeous! And Nacho! Too cute getting into everything 😂! I know how that goes.
Thank you so much!!
Absolutly amaxing hardwork. Thank you for letting the wood show it's true beatty. I love the contrasts Most times less is more. And this the perfect example. Simple but absolutly stunning gorgeous. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Gobsmacking result! Perfect choices.

Oh my! These are just gorgeous. Your skills and dedication to your craft are amazing. Much love from England 🏴
Thanks so much for watching!
These are fantastic. I always prefer refinishing over painting if at all possible.
While I have no issue with paint, some pieces beg to be restored. These were two of them. That wood grain is out of this world and deserves to be shown off. 🙂

OMG, so beautiful.

Amazing work!!! Stunning and beautiful finished pieces. I think this may have had a large circle mirror on the vanity.
I'd almost guarantee it! Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much!
Hell yeah you nailed it!
Thank you! 😁

Beautiful restore, well done

Needless to say, you did a phenomenal job. In keeping the finish natural the effect is exactly what the artisan intended.

Thank you! 😊
Absolutely gorgeous! I have an interest in doing this type of work.
You should!
Just have to tell you, your big orange kitty is my dream kitty. Big orange mitten feet.💓💓Oh and your work is wonderful.
Thank you so much!! I'll let Nacho know he has a new fan! 😺
You do such lovely work. It a pity the center drawer and mirror to the dressing table were not available, as they would've made a great little hallway table.

Beautiful job!
Thank you so much!
Simply amazing!!!!❤
Thank you so much! 😊
awesome job done .. thanks
You're welcome!
Beautiful job. How did you learn how to do that type of work. You are a true artist.
HOURS and HOURS and HOURS of research; RUclips videos, free AND paid online courses, books, blogs, and good ol’ trial and error. It takes a LONG time to become proficient in any area, but truthfully, you never really stop learning. I STILL watch many RUclips wood workers and furniture folks while I’m working on pieces in the garage. And I LOVE a good book.
Just found you, beautiful stunning work..thank you
You're so welcome! I'm so glad you found me. 😃
OMG I love it, wow❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Gorgeous
Thanks so much! 😊
I love it as is!
Thanks so much for watching!
Your work is spectacular as are the results. I am delighted that you maintained the quality and timelessness of the pieces. I have some antiques of my grandparents and grand aunts. If you know and find the time, what do I do the restore a tea trolley top that was damaged by steam seeping through a 1 inch wool pad plus folded towel I used for a quick ironing project. I should not have done it, but I don’t always make the best decisions when I am in a hurry. I have subscribed and enjoy your work. Thank you for sharing.
The long answer here, is as much as I would LOVE to be able to help everyone who reaches out, there sadly just aren’t enough hours in the day. There is another side to this as well- sometimes things don’t come across properly through photos and videos, and are best seen, felt, etc in person. For THIS reason, it can sometimes be difficult to accurately determine the age, finish, wood species, etc of people’s project pieces. There is also the element of user error, when recommending products and finishes, or misinterpretation of my instructions.
I get, on average, approx 40+ messages per day between Instagram, FB, RUclips, and email (and literally hundreds of questions in the comments). It is unfortunately just not possible to be able to get back to everyone.
The short answer is this: you can certainly message me on Instagram and if it’s a simple answer, I may try to help you out. But PLEASE don’t take offence if I’m unable to respond! I need more hours in a day!
As a lover of Art Decco and Art Neuveau, I'm glad you didn't go modern.
Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice.
Thank you kindly! 🙂
Good job😊
Thank you kindly! 😊
Love your content! Love your videos! Love your makeover’s and I think I love you! lol.
Just in case you haven’t heard this term;
Book matched is also called the “Butterfly Effect”
I love it! Thanks for sharing that!
