The Philippines holds significant foreign reserves, amounting to approximately $108 billion as of 2021, according to the World Bank. Despite debates about the adequacy of this amount compared to countries like Japan or Thailand, these reserves play a crucial role in maintaining economic stability and supporting growth. Key contributors include remittances from overseas Filipino workers and the booming business process outsourcing (BPO) industry. These reserves help the Philippines cover its imports and manage foreign debts effectively, ensuring economic security. Understanding the broader economic landscape reveals the resilience and strategic positioning of the Philippines' foreign reserves.

Actually, thanks to the economic managers starting with Cory's term all the way to Pnoy's term. Imagine we were already bankrupt back in 1986 coz we ran out of Dollars to pay the interest rate on the elder Marcos foreign debt. In addition, BPOs were largely developed starting with GMA's term. Our building boom is also largely attributed to the office space demand from the BPO sector.

The Philippines must diversify 50-75% of its dollar reserved now into TANGIBLE assets as safe heaven for economic ties. If not it will have a big impact on its economy because more and more countries are moving away from the US dollar. The Saudi Arabia decision not to renew a 50-year petro-dollar deal that ended this June 9, 2024 with the USA is alarming and must be taken seriously by the Philippines financial institution. Considering also the US 32Trillion debt with 1$Trillion interest in every 100 days.

lol magaling ang dating nagdala ng bps, kahit papano. Mas malaki utang ng pilipinas sa pilipinas not like other country na mas malaki ang utang nilang USD. Kya di dihado ang ating bansa kahit pa mag taas ang USD. Kulang lang natin is we do not have OIL at dapat palakasin ang agriculture natin so we can provide food for the filipino and can export more goods. Djan pagkakaiba ng pilipinas sa ibang bansa.
