The squares defaulted to grayscale just cause you made the first box in grayscale! And when you copied them down they just copied the grayscale down too, you didn't do anything wrong. :)
just as a former girl scout and current employee of my local camp, I'd like to throw it out there that I learned so much from my involvement in scouts. it made me into a leader and conscious thinker, and part of that was due to trying to figure out how to accomplish my goals with cookies. majority of the proceeds go towards educating girls including funding stem programs and sex ed! in other news I love your box designs hehe
Actually every time the boxes change, girl scouts around the world are picked to be on the boxes! So the girls are real girls in the program. I think the box do need an upgrade though, but the real girls on the boxes is pretty cool.
I'm from MD and moved to NC a few years ago and I thought I was going crazy when I'd tell people I liked Samoas, Tagalongs, and Do-si-dos and they were like what are you talking about and it turns out they have different names depending where you live so thank you for this
I also had the same ones growing up that you had. That's how I learned that there are two bakeries that make Girl Scout Cookies: ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. And the recipes and names are different between them! I absolutely loved Samoas as a kid, but about 10 years ago, my area switched from Little Brownie Bakers to ABC Bakers. My mom bought me a box of Caramel deLites, thinking that they just changed the name, and when I opened the box I was appalled and devastated! What happened to my beloved Samoas? Where's the dark chocolate drizzle? Why is it so crunchy? Where did the caramel go--there's hardly any on there! The Thin Mints were also much crunchier, and the Do-si-do replacements had a different mouthfeel and a boring (but descriptive) name. Thankfully, we're back with Little Brownie Bakers as of two years ago and I can enjoy my yearly treat of Samoas and Do-si-dos again.
More councils are using Little Brownie Bakers now.. or so I am told. Before Western Washington Council merged (Totem Council & oh, something like Pacific Washington(?) ) Totem used Little Brownie & the "southern ladies" used ABC. We had a big meeting comparing the flavors. Little Brownie won - hands down. By the by, the only cookies required by contract are Shortbread & Do-Si-Dos. The bakers come up with the rest! I can certainly understand why they continue with Thin Mints & Samoas (CCC's) though. Top sellers, except in the deep South. Or so I am told.
