Super inspiring, getting little to no seat time over the last few years and feeling older. I want to at least try once! Well done thanks for sharing your experience.
Awesome video! Amazing news! Upgraded to fatherhood - CONGRATS! and finished Canada's Toughest Race. Well done Lewis! you come a long way since i started riding with you - Cheers buddy
Congrats on being a dad. Man you were going so much faster than I was on the Kove 450 Rally. Watching your video is like fast forwarding compared to how fast I was going. I managed to complete the entire day one orange course but houred out. Second day I made it to Miserable Lake trail and bailed. I was so wasted. Good job buddy. 😎
Thank you and to be fair, you were on a Kove Rally! That machine is designed to be pinned across a desert, not pottering through cord country haha. Its also quite a bit heavier than my bike! Next time I'll definitely try and ride faster as In hindsight riding at 70% meant i felt every bump and it was compounding the exhaustion. Gotta learn to skitter across the top like everyone else was.
Hey! I was back and forth with you on the Kove! Great riding - I followed your lines up obstacles a few times. - learnt a lot from your lines up obstacles choices 😊 I lost my GoPro on day 1 when I crashed in front of you at McCrumms , got it back from the sweeps. Saw you turn around at Burnt river on Day two.. good choice not doing miserable lake transit. It was brutal. Zip ties saved my camera on day 2 from becoming lost 😂
@@kiwi-moto thanks I did my best. I accidentally started out with almost full tanks, nearly 380lbs of bike. It had TONS of traction tho! Hahaha. But it wore me right out. The vintage race on Friday also took a bit out of me. I managed 2nd in V100 on my XL175 and that wasn't easy. Lol.
@@gronkvbs2795 Nice! I was there too at the vintage.. The Yamaha IT 175 I was riding broke its chain on the second to last test. I need to get around to editing my video! I'm just too dang lazy these days.
Congratulations on the little one coming and of course competing in the Cord! I thought your riding was just fine and heck you finished two days of serious riding! I don’t think I have ever ridden 140 kms in one day so two 8na row. Good on Ya!!! have wanted to do this for years! I will retire from Healthcare in 2026 so kind of planning to do it then! In any case, congratulations on all fronts. A fun video!
Thank you! It was really rather a long way, but if you enter one of the vet classes they cut out greens, butt and weylands to make the day less brutal. So you definitely can get it done!
Nice work! Just under 700 starters and around four hundred finishers. From the feed back I got from other riders it was the most chewed up and rough course in many, many years. To get that little piece of wood is what you want. Congrats on both accounts!
Thanks! yeah I had a few people tell me it was pretty gnarly, I was feeling pretty down after the first day because of how beat up i was from it, but the 2nd day was much smoother afterwards and I just wanted that peice of wood more than a 'fast time' haha
Love the video! Congrats! I also went off to the side at that big mud hole on day 2, and it was crazy. I wish i had gummy tires, tho. I should never have done that on my really old tires, lol
haha yeah I remember you saying, i think you said you were the last to get through, and whilst i didn't know it was you going through, I think i saw you get through relatively easily, and decided to follow... terrible idea haha. I think if it was raining a gummy tyre would massively help, all my own errors it wouldn't have mattered what i was running. Next time id like to try a full gummy rather than an hybrid, but i was still very satisfied with the hybrid.
sick!! nice one man, and you a pro?! so far forward in the minutes! I kinda wish I bought a beta 200 tbh, but ya know first dirt bike didnt really get it. Now I do :P
Vet Expert, 49 yo. It was a tougher race this year compared to other years in my opinion (Since 2015 in my case) A long run like this gets mental, you just have to not give up. When it's hard for yourself, it's hard for others too :)
@@ericlessard4950 Ive heard a few people say it was tougher this year than others, so that definitely makes me feel better about my body feeling like i was falling apart! You are right, its a mental game too to not give up and the advice to pace myself I think definitely helped as i've never attempted this amount of distance before. Found myself holding back, perhaps too much, but like you im proud to just finish :D
I rode the second day stuff with RC trail ride and agree this trail system is super tough. I do want to com back as well to practice. One question unanswered by anyone is what suspension setting were they running. How the F you setup for this terrain? Btw, caring for babies is way harder than this ride. LOL
I had it at pretty much mid settings for my forks and the same soft for my shock. I usually crank it up on my forks to make it harder for sommerville/racing, but softened it a bit for day 1 because i knew greens was gonna be rough, and that felt 'fine'. The second day was like smooth butter though, compared to the first day! I do have a minor upgrade from stock, valve change in the forks and a bladder kit in my shock. And I dont doubt that, haha, gotta get the training in now to prepare for the chaos to come.
FUCKIN STRESS MAN, if there wasnt the pressure to get going and it was a normal trail day, probably just laugh and take our time doing it. But the fact my minute had passed began really didn't help haha

you gotta try!!!! some of the classes have fewer tests to make it less intimidating too if youve not had much experience racing!

Congrats Lewis! The go pro just does not do it justice. We took the same approach, slow and steady. Congrats on finishing.
next time, full send, right?!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! THAT'S AMAZING NEWS BRO!!! WOW!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
BTW you should get into yoga man it would help buffer some of those injuries! :)
Thanks Derian!
YO wathc those tree branches daang that's dangerous i never thought of that being an obstacle.
Great work on completing the cord! Love the ride along. Pretty convincing to buy a woods bike 😂
n+1 man, the woods/enduro bike will be a world of difference from your adv/ds bike!

Got a log on the first try, well done . I have talked to riders tried for more than five years before a finish.
Thank you! I was glad to finish, was kinda super annoyed when i was stuck on the second day mind you. hahah

Nice video :) I did it with a Beta too but a 200cc, loved it so much. I was on minute 10 (red sticker). And I'm a finisher haha So proud :)

Soft. Run your suspension soft to handle the constant chop over the 300km.
I gotta get a small bike again. Racing test one and two on the big bikes was exhausting lol
big like, ktm 790 adventure bike big, or 450 mx bike haha?
