    THIS NEEDS MORE THUMBS!!!
I am currently being tested to see if I have Narcolepsy. My Sleep Specialist believes it may be Narcolepsy, but while waiting for the tests and results, I have been trying to look for videos to see if I could understand "am I really not normal? Do I relate to these other's who have Narcolepsy?" I really enjoyed your video because it is very personal and lets others understand that Narcolepsy isn't always black and white slap to the face, most of the time we don't even know WHY we're so sleepy, and so we just overlook it.
Thank you so much for making this.

I'm in grade 7 on a diagnosis for narcolepsy with severe cataplexy. I keep on trying to find girl RUclipsrs specifically and so far you are the second girl that I've found. Please keep on making videos like this.

thank you for making this. most of the other narcolepsy videos are from Harvard. I'm glad to find a video by an actual person and not an institution

Hi Breanna. Great video, really informative. TBH. I only heard of narcolepsy recently. I often thought I had obtrusive sleep apnea. I've been diagnosed with OSA, but I've never been tested for narcolepsy. I've been diagnosed with ADHD combined. I've read that a high percentage of individuals with ADHD actually have narcolepsy too. Watching from London

Thanks for the video. I was wondering if why celebrities had narcolepsy.

It’s my understanding that science has yet to understand what causes narcolepsy. They have theories that it may be an autoimmune condition but again, no significant statistical research to definitively prove so. Which is part of the reason why we still don’t have a cure.

Treatment is 50/50 honestly, I am starting a new trial run with a new medication after upping my stimulant dose 3 times! I’m sorry you’re resistant, it’s not easy :(

I've done a lot of the online tests for EDS and tested very high probability of Narcolepsy. Unfortunately I have MCAS and am allergic to the glue they use for the sleep study so I am unable to get tested. I know for a fact that I have it and its so frustrating not being able to get tested. I just have to be careful and watch for the signs of extreme sleepiness or I can fall asleep and wake up with a black eye or worse yet fall asleep when I'm walking the dog in the middle of winter when its -20/F. Thanks for sharing this video!!

Oh man :( I would recommend the spinal tap! I think they may have alternative glues but I’m sure if they did they would have offered that to you :/ it’s great you’re cautious though! I myself almost got myself into a scary situation while falling asleep at the while and one time even almost falling asleep while walking home from the bar in 10 degree weather so keep being cautious 😂

i thought i might have narcolepsy but then again my sleep schedule is messed up so the symptoms are probably because of that. lol omgg i relate with the getting home from sports and the day is basically wasted. i would go home and start on homework and wake up in the morning..not getting any homework done and basically failing class. also didn't help that i was a master procrastinator too! i even wrote my appeal to college admissions about sleep disorders lol. i think i fell asleep out of boredom since homework sucks. which also makes me think it might be an adhd thing. ok ramble over! also fun fact...humans sleep 1/3 of their lives so yeah we're sleeping our lives away lol

Regulating your sleep schedule isn’t always easy but I would start there :)
Falling asleep because your bored is totally normal with narcolepsy. If your brain isn’t being stimulated, it literally thinks you’re ready for bed so that is something you should tell your doctor!
That’s super funny you mentioned ADHD because I too feel I have undiagnosed ADHD and ADD😂 I truly feel these disorders go hand in hand sometimes! I hope you get the necessary tests because although narcolepsy can’t be cured, the treatments available do help with my everyday life! Good luck! :)
