I think that's why Keith Richards preferred Gibson acoustics like the Hummingbird. I don't recall seeing him with a Martin acoustic very much. He preferred the acoustic to sound more like a bucket, which forced him to dig in more. The Gibson is definitely darker, and the Taylor is definitely very bright. That's why female pop stars tend to play Taylors and rocker guys play Gibsons. 😉
I listened to these looking away. The Gibson J44 is the warmest, but it is a bit muddy. $2,400 price tag. The Martin D35 is the most even but is priced at $3,400. The Taylor 114ce projects the most. Some notes are a little thin -- almost brittle, but I think one might experiment with some different strings. I found this guitar as low as $650 and as high as $1,000. As you can see, the Taylor is significantly more affordable, and it wants to sing. . . . Given these choices, I am buying the Taylor. It is punching far above its weight class.
@josuastangl7140 , hmm, if I am mistaken, I apologize to everyone for my mistake. However, using the information available to me, I found several different sites that valued it between $650. And $1,000. Also, the person who made the video "hearted" my comment. If I made a gross error, I think he would have commented. . . . Let's start by confirming the model. You tell us which model that you think it is and where you found it at that price. I will rewatch the video and see if I can confirm the model that I think it is. . . . I have no skin in this game. I am objective. I don't care if Gibson, or Martin or Taylor wins. I am just trying to give an honest, unbiased opinion.
I am not a musician in any way. But to me, the Gibson sounds subdued. Taylor bright and crisp. Martin melds the 2 together for a full sound. Depends on what you want.
I agree with you, I have the 814 the 524 and the 314, but you’re right Taylor is my preference and sound. I like that open bright sound but booming as well.
@@JesusIsLORDbro3-3On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘Depart from me, I never knew you..." It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!
The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !
I do prefer martin👍 it sounds beautiful and classic! and The taylor, i think it’s better in smooth and calm fingerstyle songs because of its bright and light tone..!
I own a 1958 Gibson J50, and it’s the second best acoustic guitar I’ve ever played (behind a pre war Martin), but the new ones have all the resonance of a cinder block to me
I like the Martin. People have different tastes. Only thing I ever say is buy a guitar that is comfortable and that you love the sound of. Doesn't matter the brand or even the price.
One problem is the Taylor has a cutaway. I have a jumbo, 815 CE. Even though it has a cutaway it sounds way different than that Taylor. Strings and gauges make big differences too.
They all do different things. Different tones and they all sound amazing at different points. For me personally I like the sound of the j45 the most for the piece being played.
They are perfectly lined up in terms of brightness level, the gibson is crisp with a high level of bottom end, and medium brightness, the martin is perfectly balanced in between with low and high end ( i prefer a higher bottom end) the taylor excels with its brightness with a medium to low bottom end
Amazing shootout. To my ears: Gibson: Most Mids (punchiest) Martin: Most Bass (fullest) Tayor: Most Highs (clearest string-string definition) All have their place, but I really dig that Martin.
They all sound very nice. All sound unique, but I went with a Guild. Of course, it's set up like a j45, just can't afford the Gibson. Such a warm, mellow sound with nice clarity.
Would be glad to own any of these beautiful guitars. Got to give it to the 914ce! Wholesome, full, and bright sound. But then maybe that's because I just played a 914ce and a 916ce Builders Ed at The House of Guitars in Rochester NY yesterday. And also, that I just ordered a 914ce and a 916ce Builder Ed today from Sweetwater. Should be here by Friday....very excited!
J45 has that "darky-folky" flavor we all love, but D35 sounds perfectly balanced for any posible genre, so I'd go with it if had to keep one for the rest of my life in the studio. 914ce has a more "stringy" vibe. Not quite my taste, yet beautiful.
I purchased a new Taylor 117e grand Pacific last week and the tone is great it has a good mid range and bass too I was thinking of buying a Martin but decided on the Taylor 117e I think the tone is slightly different from some of the other Taylor's that I've heard and not too bright I also like the narrower neck and love the feel of the ebony fretboard Andy, Glasgow 🥰🏴
Feels like the body size isn't equal for a year like this. A Taylor like an 816ce builders edition would have much better bass while retaining the chimes.
Taylor sounded so full with incredible clarity for every string. Gibson is a close second to accompany with the round lower tones. All three sounded amazing and anyone would be lucky to own one! 👍🏼
All of them have their unique strength, for recording, we will pick Taylor, for small to medium indoor live performances, we will pick Gibson, for outdoor live performance, we will pick Martin. 😊
Gibson: deep, mellow, Martin: clean, balanced, Taylor: crisp, bright
martin is the best ! so clear and crisp
Как по мне,то гибсон объемнее звучит, хотя на этом видео прекрасно все. Для каждой гитары можно найти свою роль
@@Runes_and_esotericism Мне тоже Гибсон больше всех понравился
Completely agree
Martin is thin
You are influenced by marketing, Martin are massively overpriced good guitars
Martin isn't a joke. Perfect mastered balanced equaliser.
I think that's why Keith Richards preferred Gibson acoustics like the Hummingbird. I don't recall seeing him with a Martin acoustic very much. Now this is how you do it tone test shout-out video! Short and sweet and it even just repeats over and over 😂 I love this brother! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind and sweet writing :)
That low mid on gibson is something the rest dont have.
Absolutely, love that vibe
Yep Gibson on this one for sure
I listened to these looking away.

@@matthewmcdermit8744 that Taylor is $5,500.
A $650 Taylor will not sound the same.

Martin is the most balance high mid and treble
Exactly.
😅😅😅
Not true.
The J45 Studio is the most pleasing to my ears.
Realmente o Martin D35 se destaca pela sonoridade que agrada os ouvidos.
That's what I thought but ig everyone think differently
I am not a musician in any way. But to me, the Gibson sounds subdued. Taylor bright and crisp. Martin melds the 2 together for a full sound. Depends on what you want.
Taylor Crystal voice ❤
Shallow sounding
No bass.
Sounds thin.
Just treble and no bass.
This is a ridiculous and useless comparison. Beauty is in the ear of the listener!
They all sound good
I love all 3 but that crisp clean sound a Taylor has blows my socks off every time.
Too bright
I agree with you, I have the 814 the 524 and the 314, but you’re right Taylor is my preference and sound. I like that open bright sound but booming as well.
Gibson sounds muddy, Martin is clear and tight, Taylor is clear and open
Best way I've heard these guitars described. I will say I do prefer martin over gibson when it comes to acoustic.
@@JesusIsLORDbro3-3On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘Depart from me, I never knew you..."

Absolutely 💯 indeed
Five years ago I would have said Taylor...Now the D35 ...Amazing...But there all fantastic...Great playing Man...Thank you for sharing...
They all sound great. Matter of preference but I like the Martin's tone the most
It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!
The Taylor sounds more brilliant, but all sounds amazing 😍
Thanks for lovely comments
👍
Agreed! The Taylor is the brightest for sure!
They all sound incredible, you make them sing 👏 I am a Martin Lover but gotta say that this Taylor sounds pretty bright and crystal clear 🎸
To me, the Taylor explodes with the flavors of high, mid and low tones. But I am a Taylor owner of the 410 and GS8.
Gibson and Taylor sound beautiful. The Martin surprised me with how flat and dull it sounds.
Loved Taylor 914❤
I think I like the Taylor the most for it’s brightness and projection, this is coming from a nylon player who values warmness in their tone
I have a Taylor 914 ce and love it!
Po you
Same here!!
It’s pretty close but Martin > Taylor > Gibson
I love reading the adjectives people use, like there's some standard we guitarists have to describe what these words mean.
The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !
so many AMAZING luthiers out there making great guitars for half the price of the "big brands"...
Personally, i like the Gibby sound best
Almost everybody write Martin is the best only because of the brand. However it would be different if this video was a blind test sound.
I do prefer martin👍 it sounds beautiful and classic! and The taylor, i think it’s better in smooth and calm fingerstyle songs because of its bright and light tone..!
Sure the Taylor is louder but the martin is perfectly smooth blended and harmonized
Taylor sounds so lovely
Martin for the win. Been my favorite guitars for over 40 years.
In this clip the Martin seems like the Goldilocks just right, not too bassy not too bright lol
J45 sounds so crisp!
Martin is the warmest, Taylor is the most Lively and Gibson is a mix of Lively and warmth. I give the Edge to Gibson 👍🏻
Exactly :)
I own a 1958 Gibson J50, and it’s the second best acoustic guitar I’ve ever played (behind a pre war Martin), but the new ones have all the resonance of a cinder block to me
Taylor has a different body profile
But it sounds lovely as it is
A kind of
Alto-Tenor-Suprano
They're all sound lovely with their respective gender❤😊
All great. Each different. But I'm partial to the D35, seeing as I have owned my 1974 D 35 since 1974
1974 D35 amazing!!!
Can anybody tell me what chords does he play or the song names, many thanks
I like them all. I would pick the guitar that suits the song i'm playing
classy / warm / bright
Taylorの万能感すごいな
弾き語りならMartin
ギターそのものを楽しみたいならGibson
They're all three beautiful. It's good to be American. Freedom of choice.
Amen.
테일러 이즈 베스트~~!!! 화사하고 예쁜소리가 매력적이네요~!! 디자인도 예쁘구요!!!
마틴과 깁슨은 가라앉고 물먹은듯한 사운드예요~!!

I like the sounds of martin guitars but I find Gibsons and Taylors so much nicer to play
What kind of chords are these?
Is this Gold by Glen Hansard?
just chord progression E C#m A B
@@acousticgroove Ah ok. Somehow reminded me of this (from 54 sec):

It's an accurate analysis You have delicate ears
I think what makes Taylor guitars stand out is their pickup system.
No.1 - Taylor
No.2 - Gibson
No.3 - Martin
Hahaha Hahaha you
Yes Martin massively overpriced
The J45 sounded awesome !
My personal fav was the Gibson. It would be easier to compare them if they had used the same sized strings, though.
what chords are you playing ? Thanks
E - C#m - A - B
Gibson J45 sounds the best to me, crispy and mellow. Taylor is a bit too bright. Martin a bit dark.
I don‘t really know how to describe it, but I love the „clearness“ of the Taylor
Taylor sounds great!
Which one is the Martin?
Amazing shootout. To my ears:
Gibson: Most Mids (punchiest)
Martin: Most Bass (fullest)
Tayor: Most Highs (clearest string-string definition)
All have their place, but I really dig that Martin.
Should have used a standard J45 and not a studio.
Price comparison
J45 Studio - 2,400
Martin D35 Seth - 3,400
Taylor 914ce - 5,800
The J45 Studio replaced the J15 and the J15 is quite better. I've played them both
Martin and Taylor are my guitars. I just bought a $2500 Taylor and the sound from that guitar is shockingly impressive
For this kind of song: Martin D35
They all sound very nice. All sound unique, but I went with a Guild. Of course, it's set up like a j45, just can't afford the Gibson. Such a warm, mellow sound with nice clarity.
Taylor Wins the Cool sound (Crystal Clear and Clean), Crisps, Tonality.
How about all three ?
상황에 따라 다른 매력이 있습니다.
ESTÃO MICROFONADOS OU USANDO O PRÉ AMP DELES?
Just single mic :)

E C#m A B chord progression
Whats this song?
The Martin sounded heavenly
What's the name of the song u playing ??

I like all three. They all offer something slightly different without any of them being superior or inferior to one another.
J45 has that "darky-folky" flavor we all love, but D35 sounds perfectly balanced for any posible genre, so I'd go with it if had to keep one for the rest of my life in the studio.
914ce has a more "stringy" vibe. Not quite my taste, yet beautiful.

congratulation for taylor 117e
Are they using the same strings?
Same strings!
@@acousticgroove Thank you. I like them all. Depends on how they sit in the mix to say which is better.
Martin has a beautiful crisp bright tone.
Martin sounds very clear n smooth!
I think depending on the type of band, artist or the song development and arrangement all would sound good
Feels like the body size isn't equal for a year like this. A Taylor like an 816ce builders edition would have much better bass while retaining the chimes.
Tayler is just in a class by itself it doesn’t just strum it chimes
D35 by far 😉
Which chords are you playing?
E - C#m - A - B
@@acousticgroove Thanks 😉
i cant decide which one. but martin has the most balanced out of them all
Yeah you're gonna want that martin (especially for recording). I have 3 of them. I have 1 taylor and it now sounds like a cigar box.
Taylor sounded so full with incredible clarity for every string. Gibson is a close second to accompany with the round lower tones. All three sounded amazing and anyone would be lucky to own one! 👍🏼
Thanks for your thoughtful words
The gibson and the taylor shout, while the martin sings.
1 martin sounds the best
2 this is how all comparison videos should be
Thanks a lot :)
Martin if you're playing solo. Taylor if you have to cut through a band. Great comparison, love this format!
Dreadnought vs Dreadnought vs a Grand Auditorium with a cutout?!?!? 😂
Hahaha ikr
I'll take all three...all great in their own way
GIBSON SON WONDERFULL...👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I like all of them. But Martin is probably the best.
I want them all
the more I listen with headphones and my eyes closed the Martin is sounding the most pleasing
Martin always makes good sound
Is this in standard?
gibson J45 studio
Depends on the song and mix
What is the chord progression??
E C#m A B chord progression
1.Taylor
2. Gibson
3. Martin
