DIY Bluetooth Boombox (from scratch)

  • This video tutorial will teach you everything you need to know in building a Homemade Bluetooth Boombox! So far this is the loudest one I've made, and one of best sounding ones in my DIY speaker collection.
    This boombox is powered by long lasting rechargeable Li-ion batteries. In addition, I added a passive subwoofer (driver) at the back of the boombox for louder bass. It uses a two way speaker setup, designed for a full HiFi experience. The speaker drivers are driven by a 2x25W High Efficiency (Class-D) Bluetooth Amplifier Module. The amp module that I have used also comes with wireless command features, making it possible to control your music wirelessly.
    Everything is housed on a DIY wooden enclosure, made from MDF material. I lined the outer part of the enclosure with cloth such as denim and red canvas to give the boombox a hip, modern and stylish finish.

      I thought it was a strange comment too. It does not matter where you study at...a top tier University, Your local library or even your noisy dining room table, as long as you have the desire and the drive to accomplish something, then that is what is most important. The thing I like the most about this young gentleman's video is he shows you ( just like DIY perks from Europe, and DIY boom boxes in Texas USA) that you do not need top of the line tools to create something beautiful and useful. This project is absolutely wonderful. It is easy to see why he has such a large fan base for his projects.

    This is an impressive build and a wonderful video. I did notice a couple of things though.
    1) You didn't discuss what you use for battery charging. Whatever it is you plug into a DC jack (which is cool) but a pointer to a proper Li battery charger would be helpful.
    2) You shouldn't solder to Li cells. The heat ruins them. You can buy cells with tabs welded to the ends and then solder the tabs.
    3) And just a nitpick, the socket wrench you used was a ratchet, not a torque wrench.
    Your technique for covering the cabinet with fabric was really well documented. Kudos on a wonderful build!

    right for all us speaker noobs that have absolutely no idea where to start the fact you say "links are in the description below" and have solely linked the arduino amplifier is handy but also very misleading as i being the first time builder was hoping for a parts list without having to spend hours of research to see if the woofers/tweeter/crossovers are all compatible and if the li-ion battery pack is enough to power such components...would've thought the 5 ish minutes dedicated to gluing denim to a box could instead be used to explain/walkthrough the parts properly and with reasons
    s, to anyone out there who does know rough guidelines of the parts used please help. Thanks

      there is an eeprom (8 Pins) that you can solder on an breakout board and dump/flash.
      You can modify the dump which should have the passcode, name and other stuff with an hexeditor and flash it back.

    a very high level diy, you really need to calculate volume of the enclosure to the driver's ts parameters, the ts are also key to select an optimum passive crossover.

  • @svartahridxhgc
    @svartahridxhgc 7 лет назад +3

    I don't think it would be a good idea using those crossovers and those woofers, because there you ended with only very high and very low frequencies. I would instead go with a pair of full range speakers connected directly into the amp output terminals, and a couple of tweeters that don't need more than a simple capacitor to cut out to their needed frequency. It would be better using a pair of car speakers, so they are ready to play all the frequency spectrum.

    bro here are my recommendations...
    1. lose the tweeters, use full range speakers so that you'll get more power from the amp.
    2. your passive radiator is small for the two drivers. Isolate each speaker and give each one their own passive radiator or put a bigger passive radiator so you'll get more low end fq on it.
    but hey it's a great DIY! kudos! more projects to come bro!
    P.S. fellow Filipino here ;)

    • @47roo
      @47roo 8 лет назад

      It says " for lithium charger" you would want to use a balance charger as there are 4 cells. the balance leads are not on the diagram but would run straight from the cells to the charger and would only be included in the circuit when charging. This dose appear to be an over site in this build.

    • @el_taiito5492

    Dude, Nice Vid you (and your crew) did (that I stumbled upon). And so meticulous. Right up my alley. I haven't done something like this in 30+ years. Mine was a car radio with a 10" free air woofer and a 6" horn tweeter with crossover shoved into and old kitchen drawer with a cheap power supply and an 80 watt amp. No internet and not much money but it sounded pretty good in the shop (until they made us remove all the radios). I think you may have just woke me up again. Thanx.

    Nice build. The components all came together and look great. Just from a "boombox design perspective" I would go more "rectangular" instead of "square." That's just me.

    Great video! However I would just like to point out that you called a ratcheting socket wrench a torque wrench. A torque wrench has an analog display with the amount of force on the bolt, it is used to apply the proper about of torque. The wrench you showed is a directional ratchet, it can only apply force in one chosen direction clockwise or counterclockwise. I know it's nitpicking but I would hope as a tutorial channel you would want your viewers to learn and understand the tools that you are using.

    i really enjoy watching your videos, butingting, kalikot. dati siraniko nga tawag sakin dahil mahilig ako sa ganyan lol (pero nabubuo ko naman). matagal na rin akong tumigil, bumalik lang ulit sa alaala ko nung napanood ko video nyo, gusto ko rin sana gawin yang boombox pero wala nakong tools para makagawa pa nyan. lalo lang akong nang hinayang sa 2 old 7"speakers ko, twitters, old subwoofer and old motorcycle battery, tools lang talaga kulang. how I wish maka bili ako ng mga tools for that. soon a 500w bluetooth boombox ko makompleto ko na. sana. :) :)
