It serves no special purpose other than decoration :) There used to be an old grain mill on our property, before it burned down to the grounds a great number of years ago. We bought the property, constructed a house and filled the gap in the ditch with a new wheel...
This is a great project would it be possible to get some rough plans. The video is quite instructive but some simple plans with angle cuts and dimensions would be a great help.
Looks like it's just a vanity thing and doesn't do anything except look pretty, which is a shame. The cost of the labour involved in producing such a fine work of art leads me to suspect that the owners can afford to keep paying for their electricity from the grid, and is a wasted opportunity. Perhaps they added a generator since?
Hi Chad, It is larch. The wheel is made in Austria. So I presume they used Larix decidua Mill. (syn. L. europaea D.C.) European larch. Mountains of central Europe. *** en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larch
Arcoandnicco Jaun -Wow!! That's different. I've never heard of that kind of wood before. Thank you so much for replying back! Hope you and your family has a Happy NewYear!!
Chad, if you are in the western US, we call larch tamarack. You might also consider Alaska yellow cedar for its strength. I want to see one of these on a piece of water we build one of these days

That's just crazy. They allowed the wheel to be installed but they won't allow a generator to be connected to it? I thought Europe had more freedom and common sense these days, clearly I was wrong.
espectacular y genial construcción hidráulica.
This German song really tested my stereo system :)
You have a point there!
Szép lett, le a kalappal a mesterek előtt
Köszi! Profik készitették Ausztriában... értenek a fához és precizek is!
Excuse me for the curiosity, but what specifically does this mill do?

I really like your water wheel, I happen to build water wheels myself maybe we should exchange ideas.
That music is so good. Can you share the name of the song please.
You skill level is amazing. Do you produce electricity with this water wheel?
Truly amazing work. Beauty in motion.
Thanks, Chris! :) We enjoy looking at it through the living room window!
is it just for looks or are they planning to possibly find a way to generate electricity with it?
Excellent! Is that made of pine? if so did you treat it or varnish it?
Hi Chuck! It's made of larch (lat. = larix) and is untreated!
Gibt es das Wasserrad noch?
How much power can it produce under normal flow/conditions? It is one stout wheel, does all the weight help produce more power ?
Looks like it's just a vanity thing and doesn't do anything except look pretty, which is a shame.

beautiful!
Well done guys very wonderful job from kurdistan 🇳🇪 👍
Do you know what kind of wood they used? I'm fixing to build mine out of Western Red Cedar. Thanks!

Schauen nach und kommen darauf zurück...
Echt Maximum Reeeespekt !!!
Do you have that water burst?
Beautiful. I want a water mill as this one!!! Very nice!! :-D
I guess Im pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released series online?
@Julio Leo Flixportal :P
@Darian Creed Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it!!
@Julio Leo No problem =)
Awesome job! I lke its supported only on one side!
Very beautiful!
10Q :)
Beginne jetzt auch mit dem Bau
finde ich klasse
Will you build me a water wheel?
Are there plans available?
We had it manufactured by GBL in Liezen, Austria...
How many RPM?
around 12 to 15 RPM
German precision in engineering... Built for Hungary???
It's a multikulti project: Austrian precision, ordered by Swiss folks for a property in Hungary... :D

Pov:its 3 am right now
Time to Produce Free Electric.
Not possible! We would not get a permit from the National Park (water right's issue...).
That's just crazy. They allowed the wheel to be installed but they won't allow a generator to be connected to it? I thought Europe had more freedom and common sense these days, clearly I was wrong.
Germany, land of too many rules, France land of no rules at all, Vive la France

❤🎉❤🎉😅
Such a waste with no generator on it..🙄
lower your carbon footprint! turn a few pulleys free power? but it is still nice.
+Ed Nelson That's the first thing I would do is hook it up to an alternator/generator, no doubt.
We would... if we could. But National Park Authorities would object... complicating factors are "water laws" in this part of the world (Hungary) ;)
wow, they let you build it, where I live I think we would get shot? now of days?
crazy eddy
Nadebasszus, az ingyen áram miért ártana a fafejű complicating factor-oknak?!
Spielkram!
whooping
Lol all the wood wasted. That thing is way too heavy...
But cheerful Hitler Jugend songs !
