The dude's swinging isn't bad. He's doing it mostly without hitting anything. It just lacks speed and style, which is fine. The games are made so that you CAN swing between destinations with speed and style, but it's not at all necessary to complete them.

Spider man 2 from the PS2 was ugly, but did a wonderful job in the swing mechanics and the PlayStation games took it as a lesson, and upgraded it.
