- This Is Why You Should Buy The 2023 Toyota CHR!!
As categories of SUVs go, the compact SUV market has seen a rise in the number of cars produced over many years, with this becoming more obvious on the roads, every passing year. One of Toyota's main entries into this area is with the CH-R.
Like many Toyota models, the 2023 Toyota CHR is a great all-rounder offering you good gas mileage, sharp handling, tranquil comfort, accurate driver feel, and of course the awesome styling. We, like many across the globe, love the new CHR, and here’s why…
You have the best of both…
Like many crossover compact SUVs, one of the C-HR’s strengths has always been that it offers you the smooth and accurate driving capabilities of a hatchback or sedan, whilst giving you a more similar seating position to an SUV. Whilst often think of an SUV being several feet taller than a sedan to give you that improved visibility on the roads, the Toyota CHR is in fact only 4.7 inches taller than a standard Toyota Corolla, at 61.2 inches, compared to the Corolla’s 56.5 inches but it’s enough of a difference to know that you’re no longer driving a sedan of the 2000s…
The all new 2023 Toyota C-HR's steering feels accurate, and at the same time its front wheels respond directly to driver input. The handling is lively, body roll is well managed, making you forget that you're higher off the ground. For such a cool looking crossover, we would have liked a bit more power than the standard model’s 121 horsepower, as the resulting 0-60 time of 11 seconds feels like a month by 2023 standards. But hey, that’s not really what this car is about...
Sporty Design
While the 2023 CHR is a small family SUV, the Japanese automaker hasn't stopped the C-HR from looking cool and unique. The beauty of the Toyota stands out, especially in the small SUV category.
There are many sporty details which can be found all over the new CH-R. The aggressive-looking front grille, with the widened wheel arches, the rear spoiler with the sporty vents are just a few. Overall, the automaker has dominated in a class that isn't quite known for having the best looking cars and for that reason, it's one of the best.
The next-gen Toyota C-HR will be much bolder than the current model. It will feature a design inspired by the Toyota C-HR prologue, a concept created at the same place as the current C-HR ED2, Toyota's European Design Development center in the south of France. The C-HR prologue looks smaller than the C-HR, but Toyota says it actually has a more spacious and practical interior. It's unapologetically snazzy, not to mention sportier and sophisticated.
Larger wheels and shorter overhangs give the C-HR prologue a better stance than the current C-HR, while the "hammerhead" face endows it with a powerful first impression. Slimmer headlights, reduced grille apertures, diamond-shaped greenhouse, flush door handles, split rear spoiler, and slim and wide combination lights highlight the vehicle's high-tech design. We expect at least 80% of the design to reach production.
Great Fuel Economy
Speed isn't the new C-HR's main focus; fuel efficiency is where this crossover shines. For a car of its weight, shape, and size, the new CH-R offers some fairly competitive ratings regarding fuel efficiency.
Now given the car has a fairly large 2.0-liter engine, the CH-R is less efficient than similar cars with smaller capacity engines, but at the same time, the new Toyota CH-R manages to give a mix the mpg of around 30 across the whole range making it plentiful.
And while its EPA estimates of 27 mpg city and 31 mpg highway have the 2023 C-HR neck and neck with most competitors, and it blew away all but the Nissan Kicks that is two minutes tied for the same result in its real-world highway fuel-economy testing: The XLE model car experts tested smashed past its EPA rating and delivered a staggering 37 mpg throughout 200 miles.
A Comfortable Ride
Typical Toyota quality abounds inside the all new 2023 C-HR's cabin. Well except for a pair of cheap plastic panels on each side of the center console, and the materials all over the interior seem well-chosen and durable. There is a faux-leather dash with simulated stitching looks upscale, white diamond-patterned plastic on the doors and similarly patterned headliner accents which add a bit of fun to the mix. And in low-light situations, the trim used on the dashboard of its XLE test car appeared to be standard-issue piano black, but at the same time in direct sunlight, a metallic glaze shone through, which is a nice surprise.
Don't miss the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid:

I love my CHR. I was initially going to buy a Kia Soul and while we were on the way, we decided to stop by a Toyota dealership. I test drove a CHR and instantly fell in love. I don't regret my decision at all.
Funny world isn't it.
We bench marked both the toyota and kia, and went with the kia soul.
We found the darkness inside the toyota wasn't what we wanted, and the kia had a big opening panoramic roof .
@@brianiswrong kia is garbage tho bro
Yes toyota outside look good😅 but isnside ? And power ? And tech? Isn’t toyota
@@brianiswrong lol that's the first thing I noticed too! Just black everywhere like a black hole. Too much of it and no contrasting colour to break the darkness.
@myefone1536 my ☯️ auto
I agree with Toyota strategy; EV are not the solution. Having owned an EV; suffering range anxiety, broken chargers, lack of infrastructure, rising cost of charging, adding 30-40% extra time to long journey.. no thanks. Hybrid cars and hydrogen are way forward..
Europe is not the only market where it will continue to remain available. The C-HR is quite popular here in Australia, and Toyota isn't going to take it from our market. In this video, failure to not mention the very good and extremely economical hybrid version is a serious omission. Never mind that it is underpowered. Our Lamborghini and Ferrari drivers here couldn't care less about that because we can't go faster than 110 km/h here anyway, and the hybrid accelerates well enough to overtake a truck or pull you out of a hazard zone. This Toyota is an eye-catcher, especially in hornet yellow with a black roof.
Looks like they did indeed take it from our market 😢

-i Ve the black edition..here in Milan Italy...we don t get that version ...here in Italy 90% Is 1.8
Only 10% 2.0😊
I have been waiting for my CHR Hybrid GR since August 2022 and I was told 12mth to 18mths. Recently was informed that they might build in November. Praying at this stage that I do not have to wait much longer
I had mine last week 🎉 in yellow and black roof amazing I am in love 😍 with my chr
2023 very happy 😃
From Australia 🇦🇺
Congratulations! Good color choice
Thank you very much 😊
I love my C-HR.
Me too
I love the way these things look, but that's all I love about it. No power, no manual transmission, no awd.
Toyota needs to make this car available in the US. It's idiotic that they don't!
How do you not have a CHR in Canada does? Strange.
It’s discontinued now but was available in us
We here in North America will never see the 2024 C-HR
Having recently purchase a new car from another manufacturer, when I sat in the CHR for the first time, I could tell it was a 6 year old design. It needs a real overhaul inside, and given the upcoming Hyundai and Kia updates, I really hope the 2024 model brings the game.
Kia lmao. It should come with a fire extinguisher and engine rods
😂😂😂 Toyota get new designe maybe outside but inside and fun or tech never😂😂 just don’t buy Toyota este of money. Isn’t toyota ceo say they not going to spend money on ev car since they can’t keep up with other brands
@@calindor19 ?
the mk 2 is coming this year
C-HR with 2 litre hybrid power train is the perfect combination between performance & fuel economy, really good seller in the European market. Toyota dropped the ball in the North American market with the gutless thirsty power train & unreliable transmission they lumbered the C-HR with.
37 mpg? My 2.0 litre C-HR GR averages 52 mpg. Great car.
2 different MPG, one base on US gallon while the other is UK gallon.
i am a bit confused is this video about Toyota CH-R hybrid or Toyota CH-R Prologue Please inform
But this is not available in the US a anymore, sadly.
you might find this silly, but i also ❤ the design. it has those "evangelion" style curves that i love.
Where did you get those prices from?! They’re like £33,000 in the UK
Cars are often more expensive in the UK
I have one and love it!!!!!
It’s a great car ✌🏼
Mine just arrived a few weeks ago. Traded in a Nissan Z for it and was worried I wouldn’t like it.
I love it.
No dissatisfaction with overtaking power, easy to drive….love it
You got a 2024?
Jeez why don’t you have the HYBRIDS …. 60,70,80 mpg … that’s the whole point
Absolutely right. The hybrid version of this is a near perfect car.
This to me is what the Toyota Cross should look like. Not that 'Kluger' looking thing.
Just bought. Love it❤UK.
it looks very sporty but the engine is weak...that is the reason why it did not sell well in the US
It's not the engine - it is the transmission - K114 transmission that lacks any ability to move this vehicle. Granted it is better than the 2018 Rav4 XLE that I have. The Rav4 is slower to move (heavier?).
I wanted to buy one of these but they no longer offer it in the UK with AWD.
A CHR Prime version (with the same engine, transmission and AWD as the RAV4 Prime) would be nice.
Don't buy a Toyota CHR, it got a transmission will fail around 80k mi, this happen to many CHR owners, and it happened to my niece's '20 CHR, there should be a class action lawsuit to Toyota Co.
Just have to baby the K114. Flush the fluid at 30k miles. I think I will have the pan dropped and the transmission filter changed in 2024 as it will be six years old. I only have 44.5k miles on my 2018. The 2024 C-HR has a lot of new features and more HP, with a eCVT not the problematic K114.
I owned it for one week within it was stolen 😢 Very popular in thefts. 😢
I wouldn't buy anything with a CVT in it , even if it is made by Rolex.
I love this car 😭
They stopped selling the chr here in the states. :(
😂better I have the 2021 it’s means the price is gonna be almost the same for about more years and Toyota last4 Ever
Let's see how long the K114 lasts...@@OzzyThunder7862
Not that long with 3400 lbs cars @@stevenv2190
It's obvious that much more effort goes I to the exterior design than the interior.
Wouldn’t disagree there ✌🏼
I would disagree there
How much is the c-hr in Canada.
If only it has a bit just a bit more power and a panoramic roof or a moon roof this will be one of the coolest cars these days
It will help a lot specially that it feels closed inside in the backseat with the high doors and small windows..
Very noisy car. When you driving 50 miles per hour you can not hear the music.
Depends on the power train fitted, if you have the JBL sound system it's more then punchy enough to play music loud.
Bs
My dream car 💋
In Europe it’s much more expensive that it’s shown in the video. In Europe starting price is 29000€. GR sport version costs over 40k. Ffs, everything is much more expensive in EU. F*ck it.
yeah, it's not a 35-40k car, the price is just insane.
Could be worse - features stripped out of the US models.
I bought my One Active version here in Italy with 12000 km and 7 month...on sale for 25000 my Brother bought the brand new One gr 35000 ...
Where have u seen 40000😅?
@@MrRoberto984Depends on how loaded it is. In Baltic states fully loaded car is over 40k.
Honda civic has a new one that's 80 mpg! :)
The corolla??? The whole point is the look which I love but it’s too underpowered. I even saw the all electric version at an expo and even that one was underpowered 🤕 . If at least there was a trusted ECU tuning source that could help then I might consider it.
North American market never got the brilliant 184 bhp 2 litre hybrid power train option for the C-HR, then again North American market never got the excellent Corolla Touring Sports either 😂
am not into car racing so I don care about the speed. We can’t go over 65-65 m/hr in the parkways . And if over goes over that , just be sure no state highway trooper is lurking ahead the roadside. All these fast drivers usually cause accidents on the road . Unfortunately those other drivers drivers get hit too - near, infront or alongside that fast, reckless, in a hurry driver.
My son's 1.8h gets ave 64mpg.
Super auto ik heb de GR sport beest van een auto.
This vehicle has always been low rated. Wheezer performance. Uncomfortable ride. Blind spots galore.
Yeah I'm renting one that's maybe 2 years old. It's uncomfortably small, slow, and I don't know how the gas mileage could be considered good. Maybe my rental just has issues, but on a full tank it reads something like 260 miles to empty and reports 27 mpg on a very mixed usage city/highway. My 2017 Hyundai Elantra could do 430 miles on a full tank and I would get 33 mpg city driving... Also, the touch screen is incredibly clunky and glitchy.
How much? I like it.
I'm a huge toyota fan but honestly strongly disliked this car. Amenic and terrible side and rear visibility.
My dream car 🤍
How much is it
It's easier to get through the back door.
Im telling you already there is nothing to complain about japanese engineers.
If this car had the same dash and screen integration as the Hyundai Tucson 2023 it be tops!!! Just don’t like the interior if this car
yes!
Really dont like the front, it look so weird
NO thanks has CVT, albeit a good one but still CVT.
my dreem
Precio
Rear visibility looks poor.
Rs 650 000
Toyota like to kill all the good car and fun like prime line😅 so 2023 prime then? Their is no 2024😂 also the price isn’t cheap at all
I would buy one if it didn't have such a pathetic boot. It's actually ridiculously small, and useless for a family.
There is no 2023 chr canada
Yep, Toyota NA Farked us all here. Not even the 2024 Rav4 has the features in the 2024 C-HR.
they should call it the batmobile . overstyled , too many lines and creases !
Pretty sure that name is taken already 🦇
@@motorfuture2025 😂 Good one! 👍🏾

May be a nice car, but it is ugly
Like the mirror you look at?
71% of CHR owners say they would not buy it again. One of Toyota's duds? No wonder they are discontinuing it in the US.
But jd power rates number one vehicle in depend ability
@@moeanthony9308 JD Power is worthless. It rates vehicles for the first year of ownership. I'm interested in the first 15 years of ownership. The C-HR has one recurring problem - 12 volt battery failure. People also dislike the poor visibility.
@@67daltonknox bro I have had a chr for five years never had one lick of a problem. JD power is instituted for reason but the best result is those who own the vehicle and their experience not what you always hear or read.

If I would, I could - but can't = no 2024 C-HR here in the US - Fark you Toyota NA
SUV's are cancer. Every car company should maintain the old structure of sedan, hatchback, etc. Not go full SUV's. I really hate the design of SUV's.
