    Hey rick could you make a video with the sldr showing us the actual effectiveness of the sliding weight for fades and draws

  • @Mav...
    @Mav... 10 лет назад +2

    Rick, I wish you would take it through all clubs features. I mean, hit it straight but slide the weights left and right and spread apart and even with the extreme lofts. For us. You like it your way but how about demonstrating it for everyone elses taste and or swing preference. I saw your demo on the smaller head and I know you liked it a whole lot. I know I'll take a hit with it as soon as GolfSmith has it at their store. Thanks.

    On a recent Monday night show you were asked if you could prove how your launch monitor performs in reality and I think you said this would not be possible. I was thinking about it afterwards and came up with an idea. Chose a "quiet" day with no wind or rain when it was relatively warm (I don't know if the launch monitor is calibrated to a particular temperature) and take the device to a golf course that is loaded on the device and select a hole on which to carry out the test. Probably a long par 3 would be best. If Pete was on the green and you on the tee you could play the hole both virtually and actually. Pete on the green, could video the ball landing on the green (hopefully most times!) and then place the flag to where the ball landed and use your Bushnell rangefinder to check the distance. I think it would be an interesting experiment. What do you think?

  • @munnjean
    @munnjean 9 лет назад

    Very interesting demo. thank you, I just purchased the R15 driver, the concept of the sliding weights is innovative indeed but they are no cure for a poor swing so they are not going to " fix " a hook or a slice.
    I'm putting my bag together for the 2016 season, my choice of equipment is Callaway XR clubs with the exception of the driver. When I tested this driver with the fitter I was very impressed, excellent feel, like wise with launch and total distance. I'm senior golfer with a driver swing speed of 91 mph. and I play off an eight handicap.
    I've had the Nike " Covert " driver in my bag for three seasons and it was time to make a change. My Nike driver was set at 9.5 degree with one degree open, I know the face of the R15 is set so I'm hoping that by moving both the weights to the toe of the driver will, for the most part, help to encourage a fade.

    Great review as ever Rick
    How about this for a test R15 vs SLDR with 2 weights in the slot one at each end to try and get the forgiveness without the £300 bill?

  • @vicibox
    @vicibox 10 лет назад

    I have already been lavish in my praise of this driver on another channel - maybe it is the jack and pepsi talking but, I actually like this club and i actually think its the first Taylormade launch recently where they have actually inovated something significant and understand why it is significant - if i was buying a club, this would be one on my list to try - i hope TaylorMade understand what they are doing right this time and spare us the usual pile of launch day drivel that gets people's backs up - well done TalylorMade, more of this please and let your driver do the talking for you ;-)

    hi rick, you say in some other videos that the SLDR driver isn't very forgiving, but what if you added a second weight and spread them apart like you recommend on the R15.

    Hey rick, first time seeing one of your videos and it was great. What's the advantages of 430cc head compared to a 460cc head? Im in the market for a new driver and was wondering if a 430cc head would be for me.

  • @golfingpenguin
    @golfingpenguin 10 лет назад

    When you get fitted properly for this and the 430 you need to see if Titleist is still the big dog in your new long drive competitions!

  • @whogg0521
    @whogg0521 10 лет назад

    Ahhh, I watched the smaller head video first..so cool they are bringing out different head colors. I just bought my G30...dangit....but I think for me the Ping might still be more forgiving. My instructor just got the new Mizuno Driver so would be curious how that performs as well since it has a movable CG (Front to back) and can do a lot of adjustments as well.

    Hi rick. im looking at getting a completely new set of sticks.
    The SLDR driver, hybrids and irons are looking hot at the moment.. Do you have any recommendations on the contrary. I am an average player, handicap 18 . have a major slice on the ball. Hence why looking for a correction club. price not really a consideration - just want the best. whats your advice.

    This is the best driver I ever hit. It's long even against the wind because of the low spin. Very forgiving. Better than my TM Supertri R9 TP. The weights are not gimmicks at all. They do work.

    • @TheMainMan123
      @TheMainMan123 9 лет назад

      I'm thinking of getting one myself,which one did you get 460 or 430? Did you go for the tp version? It looks awesome to hit.i recently hit the new titleist 913 d3 and it was brilliant with the aidila rogue shaft

    • @TheMainMan123
      @TheMainMan123 9 лет назад

      I currently have an r9 myself with standard shaft fujikura motore but as I've improved it spins too much for ma and the ball flight is too high which I feel I'm losing distance.i used to have the aidila ripshaft tp but over time it broke on me but it was a dam good shaft

    • @sohosterable
      @sohosterable 9 лет назад

      David Turkington I got the 460 with standard Fujikura 57 stiff shaft. I did try my friend's SLDR TP shaft (they are changable), and it went lower but too low and didn't feel good. I've been having success with the R15. Yesterday, my ball went ahead 30 yards further than my golf buddies and it was against the wind! Mind you, I nailed that on the sweet spot.

    • @TheMainMan123
      @TheMainMan123 9 лет назад

      Were you fitted with the standard shaft then? I think if your gonna spend that sort of money on a driver custom fit is a must.bet you were loving that out driving your pals.£330 is steep for a driver and if you go TP its £400 lol looking forward to trying it out to see if the hype is true

    • @TheMainMan123
      @TheMainMan123 9 лет назад

      Just got fitted for this driver today it is unreal and I got it in black with a matrix 70g HD shaft extra stiff and when you cream it out of the Middle it goes miles.i was managing 284 yards carry with a range ball so I can't wait to hit it with prov1 x it'll go even further

  • @OilFanManitoba

    rick, what would you consider more forgiving?
    r15 460 or r15 430?

    • @SebApple123
      @SebApple123 9 лет назад

      The more CC's a club has, generally the more forgiving. So 460

  • @colingreenawaltgolf3489

    what would happen if you set one weight on the draw and one on neutral

    • @bifftop_johnny
      @bifftop_johnny 8 лет назад +1

      +Colin Greenawalt It would still give it a draw bias but be slightly more forgiving since the weight will be a bit more evenly distributed as opposed to setting both weights at the draw.

  • @jons7e
    @jons7e 9 лет назад

    The speeder 57 in stiff is a horrible matchup for your swing. If you tried this head with a better shaft, like the 661 or a better aftermarket shaft, you would have had much better results than you had. BTW, the black head looks much better imo.

    • @cameronbrule7912
      @cameronbrule7912 9 лет назад

      +y3wtub3 I'm wondering the same thing - I have a nasty right hook that I'be been trying to fix for years and just can't.

    • @y3wtub3
      @y3wtub3 9 лет назад

      +Cameron Brule i was always a slicer, really freaking bad and then i shortened my upswing and made sure my lead arm stayed straight and that fixed it almost overnight. Now i have developed a horrid hook lol but im just starting to work that out with a swing that feels totally uncomfortable but its working really well, hitting farther but 50% dead straight 40% slight draw and the rest are bad miss hits cause my swing just feels wrong and it sometimes puts me off if im not warmed up. Golf is an annoying sport that keeps me coming back lol

    • @cameronbrule7912
      @cameronbrule7912 9 лет назад

      y3wtub3 I had a left and right hook when I first started off some years ago, and after some tampering and arm straightening, I fixed the left one. I was never able to fix the right hook, and I'm still trying things to fix the slice.

    • @y3wtub3
      @y3wtub3 9 лет назад

      +Cameron Brule i honestly wouldnt know how to help, you said youve been playing a few years, thats more than me, so im guessing youve tried the old swing slower technique, that works for me on first 5 or so holes, it seems i need to earn the right to swing hard at the ball lol. Only on the back 9 can i start hitting hard and the ball actually staying in the fairway, its all trial and error unless you want to pay a pro to tell you how wrong you are doing everything lol (i would never get a lesson), change grip, change tempo, change foot position, change your swing as in more vertical upswing or more around the body, keep trying and note what you did on the few good shots you land.
