To think a rhythm game could throw in difficulty modes, boss battles, collectible guitars, secret songs? Truly 2000s kids were spoiled for choice. I'm real greatful to have been there y'know? Can only hope this sorta scene can thrive again one day!
I played SCGMD3 to death bc I never knew 4 came out lol. I eventually found out and got hooked instantly. Still salty over SCGMD4 having an achievement requiring you to basically Perfect "I just wanna burn" in pro (Since it's the only song with 1k notes). Bc of that I will never unlock Guitar vs piano.
SCGMD4 is one of my favorite Flash game ever, and I'm glad that the devs is still making games today. Thank you for making this retrospective and I'm excited to check out Super Crazy Rhythm Castle someday :)

I remember playing these games on Kong they were fun, I mostly played 2 but I played 3 a little bit from what I remember too although I remember preferring 2. Also wow didn't know they worked on Moshi Monsters I remember we'd play that at primary school at break time when we were like 10 lmao, it's cool how they've still been able to make cool games in recent years too.
I was really hoping you would talk about these games because I gave shinki one of the ideas for one of the guitars in the fourth game. Specifically the cardboard guitar one. My old kongregate username at the time is even in the credits (kN1ghtofdarkness). Its something I try to downplay nowadays because cringy edgy teenager username is cringy and edgy. I remember being an obsessed teenager with these games.
I remember when I was 6 years old, my sister showed me this guitar game, called scgmd2, because she knew I've loved (and I still love) rock and metal music, so of course, she let me play this game, and oh boi, here I am at 18 yrs old, and I already did a 100% from 2 - 4 of the series, which I've uploaded to my youtube channel actually, and working on my own SCGMD3 remake, mod or what do I wanna call it, basically just reskinning stuff and adding 14 new songs and reskin the guitars. But that can wait, since they kicked me from school, because of making fun of my teachers in a private messenger chat, which is totally bullsh.t... so I'm currently fighting my way back into that school, and then working on my own scgmd3 mod again. Why did I told all of that ? I don't know, this game just made my childhood really beautiful, and I just wanna share to that little community, what a cool scgmd mod I can make, but yeah... that can wait sadly..

This explains why I thought the game sounded fun, but the demo was monotonous. It's exactly how I felt about this series, too. Also the flash series was always not synced to the beat correctly.
