Cajun here grew up there... Dud's a family member of mine... I worked in the Oil & Gas Industry for most of my life my father did too. His Petroleum Club number was 57. Lafayette was truly a great place to live then... I have a lot of family that live there today and more family that are buried there... my family was one of the first families to arrive there in the 1760s The Seven Bothers Oak in Opelousas... The Lastrapes Oak, was planted by my 8th Great Grand father's slaves.. there's a mural of it down town. My point is I have deep roots and a great love of Cajun Country... It's a huge part of who I am.

Politicians did very well in Louisiana. I moved away to Orlando in 87. When I go back I don’t understand how a town can improve so little in 30 years.

Corruption. Love my state but, yeah. It is a cesspool for crooked lawyers, judges, and politicians

edit: my apologies neighbor I’m not trying to be rude or snippy, I’m just shocked that anyone would prefer Don’s to any of the other Cajun restaurants in town and dumbfounded how anyone could believe they’re the best spot in Lafayette and even more so the best restaurant in Louisiana. Please do yourself a favor and try more restaurants. Again, I’d highly recommend Shucks in Abbeville or Riverside Inn in Broussard.
Personally I even prefer Kevin’s Seafood to Dons, and Kevin’s is cheap and practically fast food. You can two fish and 6 shrimps , more than enough for someone not morbidly obese, for I think 6-7 dollars. They’re not the best but they’re still really good and that price and drive thru can’t be beat.
