    The flexibility of the Osprey is just insanely magical. I saw one fly from Land to a Carrier. To a Submarine some where in the middle of the ocean? And then fly back? At record speed! 😮

      They are truly interesting to see. They look like a spaceship out of a James Cameron film. If the spaceship Nostromo had to deploy aircraft to earth, I could easily imagine Ripley flying in one of these.

    Although I like the C2 Greyhound ,The Osprey is going to be a great aircraft to replace it,as it is so versatile and capable.I think the Navy made a good choice!

    • @jeffstedtfeld1815
      @jeffstedtfeld1815 5 лет назад +2

      Malcolm Cossar Ospreys have killed more people during the phase in process than a C2 in its entire career since the 60’s. The only reason the navy is sticking with the Osprey at this point is because they’ve already invested too much to back out now.

    • @JSFilmTent
      @JSFilmTent 5 лет назад +10

      @@jeffstedtfeld1815 And the H-53 killed over 60 in its development phase, yet now its a tried and proven aircraft in combat... so whats your point?

    • @jeffstedtfeld1815
      @jeffstedtfeld1815 5 лет назад +4

      OceanicShock my point is that it’s not as efficient as a cod, shit you gotta clear the whole damn deck just for one to land, which if you’ve been on a carrier during flight schedule you’d know is a big deal. The exhaust wash on the first v22’s caused heat damage to the flight deck. The only thing a v22 has over a cod is that it can carry an f/a18 engine. Which Grumman offered to modify the c2 to be able to do the same and it would have costed the navy far less now and in the future. And since the E2D is going to be around for awhile the modifications Grumman also would’ve made to the C2 like upgrading the 425’s to 427a’s would’ve just made sense. I’m not saying the osprey is bad, it’s actually quite impressive what it can do. But for navy usage it’s not really relevant, just a waste of tax payer dollars in my opinion.

      exactly, once you put that much into paying for aircraft,,,imagine....millions spent. so it would be a waste and would look dumb and it would be dumb, to switch, to some new design. so instead fix the errors and perfect it so it works well. you can perfect it, just make a version 2, version 3, version 4.

      dude the c 2 greyhound is something else. a greyhound can not land vertically like a helicopter. the OSPREY CAN.
      and the osprey, is , basically a helicopter. AND it can tilt forward the rotors to fly like an airplane. THE OSPREY IS VERSATILE. AND THATS...WHAT YOU WANT IN AN AIRCRAFT. MULTI ROLE. IT CAN DO ANYTHING. IT DOESNT NEED AN AIRFIELD TO LAND, PLANES DO . IT CAN JUST LAND EVEN ON ROUGH TERRAIN LIKE IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN, IT CAN FIND A FLAT SMALL AREA AND SET DOWN THERE VERTICALLY. sorry this does not symbolize yelling it symbolizes mil speak aka CAPS. CLEAR TALK, NO BS . GREAT COMMENTS GREAT VIDEO

    Why does the V22 need its flaps out if it's taking off vertically? I thought the purpose of flaps was to help it make a rolling takeoff like a fixed wing plane...
