These lectures you've put together and uploaded for free on You Tube, are very high quality, both the elements or organizing and dispensing of historical information, but also the auditory and visual precision, which culminate in an extraordinary experience for the viewer, and very specifically, this viewer. I began listening to you about three days ago while trying to recuperate from a nasty cold, and became hooked, going back to your first in this historical study and continuing on until the present. Your educational background, experience as a teacher and attorney, lends to my thorough enjoyment of your ability to disseminate history in an articulate and expedient manner. Since I'm prone to talk fast, think fast, be fairly animated and energetic, your teaching style is a huge bonus for me, that, and your expansive knowledge expressed without unnecessary redundancies, and replete with an appreciable vocabulary. To add the cherry to the top, your wonderful summarization at the end of each history lesson, which you incorporate the Bible lesson and practical application of the text, is a very personal touch, which I find fulfilling and inspirational. This completely rounds out the listening experience by drawing your listeners in to actively seek to live for Christ. PS: My HS children are going to start listening to two of these lessons every weekend with me and their younger sister. I will also share these with family and friends on FB and other. THANK YOU so much for all you hard work in presenting! There ARE many others, I'm sure, who feel the way I do, but perhaps less inclined or able to verbalize or express their appreciation. Keep up the great work, brother. God bless! Yvonne
Professor Gore This is Marc, from a presbyterian church in Spain. Thank you for your publication and dedication. Looking forward for the Baptist in the morning. God bless your ministry
All right for that Cosmic Legislation! Man you are the bomb! The Holy Week breakdown, the timeline on the happenings in Acts, and , just, everything!!! Thank you man. I appreciate you.
I appreciate your work and sharing these studies very much, they are exactly what I have been asking the Lord for, some history and background about Israel and the church. Thank you very much sir.
Jesus was declared King under Roman authority in the sign posted on the cross. There has never been another Jewish king proclaimed and Jesus is still alive, so He remains king on legal technicality as well as King by His own authority!
Your Sunday school here is so penetrating... I'm so moved. Thank you for your tireless efforts to educate us and most of all, edify us. I'm so edified by your teaching. May God continually bless your endeavors
Thank you so much for all these sunday school lesson, I watched it marathonly, since I found these videos. Thank you for the teaching. It is a great series, bless me alot. Thank you
Watching this excellent video and scrolling through the comments, I'm impressed by how gracious the speaker is in both the delivery of his lecture and his responses to the comments.
Dr. Cindye, as a christian I hope you follow your bible "women are not permitted to teach" 1 Timothy 2:12 - why do you have a PhD? Why don't you follow your bible? Christians dont follow their own religion, ever... it's ridiculous beyond measure
It looks like part of my comment was cut off, but what I wanted to say was: (continuing from earlier post) To add the cherry to the top, your wonderful summarization at the end of each history lesson, which you incorporate the Bible lesson and practical application of the text, is a very personal touch, which I find fulfilling and inspirational. This completely rounds out the listening experience by drawing your listeners in to actively seek to live for Christ. I cant tell just how much I appreciate your lectures. God Bless you. You are truly a great teacher and it is my prayer that my adult children will be enlightened by them and more importantly come to know that within them you faithfully preach that there is only one foundation and that is our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
It really pleases me to see people operate in the gifts that God has bestowed upon them. Your teachings seem effortless and intriguing. Keep the videos coming, you have a faithful listener in me.
It is very good subject I hope Indian people also know this need this topic so it is necessary to Indian language please pray popular getting to thank you professor
I am learning a lot from your lectures. Great. Temple completed 10BC-good but not a 10-year project. Joh 2:20 The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple,...please note
Thank you! I cover the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians in my series on the historical context of the Bible (playlist).ruclips.net/video/XyyS6_700-8/видео.html I cover the fall of Jerusalem to the Romans in 70 ad in the same series, the last presentation thereof. Thanks for your interest!
@@GoreBruce Your dates are off Jesus had to be 30 years old to be a Preast, or Jesus didn't follow the law. Matthew 21:1 = is about 14 days before the cross (Jesus's triumph ) he was 33.5 years old and was baptized at 30 by John to be a priest.== (ALL Jewish priests know this.) and the Ascension was At 37 AD.
What kind of evidence does the lecturer use to support that Jesus was born in 6 b.c.? There are only two accounts: one in Mathew that mentioned that it happened during the times of Herod The Great, who died in 4 b.c; the other is in Lucas that mentioned : “In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.” Quirinius was appointed governor of Siria by 6 a.d.
Bruce, truly this is an exceptional series-no doubt the result of years both studying and honing your teaching talent. Thank you very much! Btw, i ordered your book through Amazon. However, couldn’t find these presentations. Are they available on dvd?
These presentations are not available to DVD, but I'm happy to provide download links for any that you are interested in. Contact me at bruce@brucegore.com
The Sabbath is repeatedly identified in the Old Testament as a 'sign' of the covenant between God and the children of Israel (e.g., Exo. 31:13, 16, 17). Specifically it is a sign of the Old Covenant which is set aside in favor of the New Covenant (e.g., Hebrews 8). Insofar as the formation of the New Covenant took place in the upper room, was ratified the following morning in the crucifixion, was vindicated Sunday morning in the resurrection, the New Covenant abrogated the Old and the chief sign of the Old Covenant is thus set aside (Hebrews 4). Thanks for the thoughtful question.
Respected Sir…. Apologies for my intervention!! Jesus Christ said that he would be 3 days & 3 nights in the belly of the beast . i.e from crucifixion to resurrection ! And also JESUS CHRIST gave up the spirit at the 9th hour ( 3 pm afternoon) and 72 hours later is Saturday afternoon 3 pm ( bcoz JESUS CHRIST is also LORD of the Sabbath) Mary Magdalene saw that the body of JESUS CHRIST was missing on Sunday morning!! Please Sir JESUS CHRIST was crucified on Wednesday and at 3 pm JESUS CHRIST gave up the human spirit to give us everlasting life … AMEN 🙏
Are you referring to this.... I don't believe all they teach, but this is well presented.... ruclips.net/video/VAm1MlB-cV0/видео.htmlsi=07gtR9p72U_gfjUF
I am by no means any authority on this but as I understand it there were two Sabbaths that week, Jesus possibly resting in the grave for both, therefore the high Sabbath would be the last Sabbath of the Old Covenant and the following Sabbath the first of the New Covenant?
Luke's chronology as to the beginnings of the ministry of John the Baptist. For what it's worth, this is not a hill I'm willing to die on. Many take the 30 ad date, and others differ. On this point, certainty is overrated.
Bruce Gore has tried to present historical narrative and tie it in with the biblical narrative. Grateful to Bruce Gore for his efforts in compiling historical events. But, the crucifixion timeline is different when the entire sequence is put together from all of the 4 gospels. However, when Jesus begins His ministry at around 30 years of age, it is AD 27 and after 3 1/2 years of ministry He is crucified in AD 31 on Wednesday (Passover - 14th day of Nisan) and gives up His spirit around 3 PM in the afternoon and because the next day (beginning at 6 PM) is the feast of Unleavened bread (a high Sabbath where no servile work is allowed) they hasten to bury Him before 6 PM as explained below: John 19:31 > The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an "high day") {being the Feast of the Unleavened Bread} besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away [because they had to bury Him before 6.00 PM as on High Sabbath day no servile work permissible as commanded in Leviticus.] Leviticus 23:5-7 > In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. Then after 3 days around the end of the weekly Sabbath [evening of Saturday] He is resurrected but the disciples and apostles only reach the tomb very early on Sunday morning to be told by the angel that He has already risen. Thus, Jesus was in the grave for 3 days and 3 nights - Wednesday evening to Saturday evening - exactly as He had declared would be the sign ; Mathew 12:39-40 > But He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Hi Bruce, your slide says Philip ruled in Perea -North East. Northeast is correct but it should be the province Iturea. Perea is actually South East where John was Baptizing ruled by Antipas. Give response.
I will explain to you and all how we get three days and three nights First you have to understand that Jesus was crucified on the 14th (Hebrew calendar) which was on a Friday and he was buried before sunset which still makes it Friday as long he was buried before sunset even one hour before that is considered a whole day, then we have Saturday and likewise Sunday so after the morning prayers which can start on sunrise so right after these prayers it can be considered a full day same is like the seven day morning period one hour in the day is like that day is completed and the seventh day of morning is over and they can get up.
When Jesus visited/inspected the Temple he should had noticed that the Temple was brand new shining in the sun. Josephus said the Temple was pleasant to the mind and to the eye. As well, the money dealers that Jesus removed from the yard were there due to the fact that the donation to the temple had to be made in Judean currency and all pilgrims coming from all corners of the Roman Empire had their own currency. So they were asked to exchange their money in order to make donations to the temple.
I just heard about Tiberius and his court being converted basically after his meeting with Mary Magdalene. Mary was the first one to see Jesus after he was resurrected before his ascension, and she wasn’t even allowed to touch him, perhaps that would have stopped him from ascending? The heavenly knowledges completely unknown to humanity. Anyway, she’s the one who run back and told everyone that Jesus was resurrected and they didn’t believe her. There was a miracle performed in the very sight of the Emperor Tiberius Caesar he said that Jesus had no more resurrected than the white egg can turn red and it turned red before her eyes and she showed it to him that it had turned red
The legend you mention is based on highly doubtful sources (the Gospel of Thomas, I believer, but not certain of that). According to Tertullian, Tiberius was impressed with the reports that Jesus had risen from the dead and proposed that the Roman Senate recognize Jesus 'a god.' Tiberius died before the Senate could act, and the proposal came to nothing.
Thank you. Learning much from you. Just as Daniel 8:14 mentions evenings and mornings, the Maccabees restored altar worship after 3 years. Likewise, Daniel 70 weeks is referring to 70 weeks ministry of Yeshua, from baptism to Pentecost, over a year --- not 3½ years as Eusebius fooled us and much of Bible teachers. So by the calendar you presented Yeshua died in 29 AD.
I would like to add to your question why Ezra was ashamed to take protection? You need to look at the Hebrew commentaries on that verse Chapter 8 verse 22 see the Malbim and see metzoudat david how they answer this question, my approach would be see genesis 32:11 Nachmanides that direction
The omission of Jesus the messiahs entire life story in Josephus’ writing, doesn’t count as incompatible with the NT to u? I find it deeply problematic myself...
Am studying the patristic period "before" Nicaea, in depth and I must say, I will use EDIT: your "Chronological" Outline over Chuck Missler's and Murray's. Some considered Murray a whacko (especially after he pulled a gun on someone at Fellowship that kept interrupting him, was being quite rude, and messed up a sermon). I don't. It was Murray's house and he had the right to establish the setting inside that house.
Hi Mr Gore, I see that you placed the birth of Jesus as 6 B.C. Would you also be of the opinion that His crucifixion occurred in 27 A.D. instead of 30 A.D.?
I put Jesus' birth at 6 b.c. at the earliest. It may be later, but probably not later than 2 b.c. if Herod died in that year as is commonly held to be the case. I think Jesus was crucified in 30 a.d., but I'm not willing to die on that hill. There are decent arguments in favor of other opinions. The New Testament says Jesus began his ministry at about 30 years of age (Luke 3:23), so there is some wiggle room in the precise chronology.
It would seems to me that the New Testament writings uses Josephus real history to plug points into their theology, if we follow the dates we can know, we’ll see John the Baptist death came after Jesus, and if Josephus said Herod Antipas saw a natural believable owl as a bad omen before he died, and the New Testament said he saw something supernatural, why should I choose the supernatural explanation for a simple natural one?
Tiberius was Augustus’ last choice as heir because all of Augustus’ preferred choices predeceased him. Tiberius was forced to divorce his wife Vipsania (Agrippa’s daughter) not for just any ‘ol woman but for Augustus’ daughter Julia. Tiberius and Julia hated each other which was what drove him ( and not having Augustus’ respect) from public life and temporarily retiring to Rhodes. Augustus liked Tiberius’ brother Druses better but Druses had republican tendencies and was believed, if he became emperor, he would gradually return real power back to the Senate and people of Rome. So he was assassinated, it is thought, by his mother Livia, Augustus’ wife so the family would retain power with Tiberius. Germanicus was Druses’ son who was very well thought of by the people and the military but Augustus thought he was was too young to rule so as part of the deal that made Tiberius Augustus’ heir, he made Tiberius adopt Germanicus as Tiberius’ heir. Tiberius and Germanicus did not get along. Tiberius thought Germanicus was plotting treason against him and had him assassinated through Piso. Tiberius had Germanicus’ widow and 2 sons executed for treason but spared Caligula. Sejanus asked Tiberius if he could marry his daughter Livilla (the widow of Tiberius’ son Drusus the younger) and was refused. This angered Sejanus and made him plot against Tiberius which got found out and Sejanus was executed. Pontius Pilatus was married to a woman named Claudia who was a member of Tiberius’ extended Claudian family therefore Pilatus had a connection to the imperial family through marriage. When Caiaphas accused Pilatus of being no Friend of Caesar should Pilatus let Jesus off the hook, that hit Pilatus hard.
Augustus forced Tiberius Claudius Nero (the Emperor's father) and Livia Drusilla (pregnant with the future Emperor) to Divorce so Augustus could marry her. Hence, that's how the Future Emperor Tiberius became the Stepson of Augustus. Drusus was not the Emperor's Brother, he was his son. After the death of his son Drusus Julius Caesar in AD 23, Tiberius became more reclusive and aloof.
The point is disputed, but the majority take the view that Jesus only cleansed the temple once. John puts the event at the beginning of his gospel to serve theological, rather than chronological, interests.
I had two questions: 1) If Jesus was born in 6 BC…which makes sense because of the scriptures and the known date of the death of herod, how could he be alive after 27 AD at the latest? 2) I didn’t see bar mitzpah in the bible, what we can read is that he went to keep the passover as they did every year. Are you able to explain your reference to bar mitzpah anywhere in the scriptures? And why you made that assumption.
The Bible does not give specific information about the age of Jesus at his death. We only know that he was 'about 30 years of age.' Bar Mitzpah not mentioned, but it is commonly assumed that Jesus' visit to the temple when he was 12 was in anticipation of the bar mitzpah the following year. There is no firm proof of that, but it is a plausible explanation for the visit.
@@GoreBruce From the prophecy in Daniel 9 we know that his ministry would be cut off in the middle of that last prophetic week, 7 years. The middle of that is 3.5. His ministry started when he was about 30 years old, when he was baptized. 3.5 years would've made him 33 1/2 years old having died on the passover. With your timeline, your placing Jesus closer to be 40 years of age, at his death. Bar mitzvah is a custom of the jew-"ish" people. Jesus was not Jew-"ish" he was a jew that descendent from David who was of the tribe of Judah. The scripture says that they were keeping the passover as the Jews were instructed to do, every year. It just so happened that his year the story was recorded because of how he dealt with the people in the temple asking them questions. I like your history teachings, but we shouldn't be adding those types of contextual tidbits that are actually unrelated.
Why do you say calendar error in first century, when the Christian calendar didn’t begin until the 6th century ce, wouldn’t that makes it a Christian error , since the New Testament place Jesus birth in two different time period?
Question if we’re saying Jesus born 6 bce, Herod died in 4 bce, is Herod killing of babies, around the age of 2 our only evidence for the year of Jesus birth? How then can we explain Jesus rebirth 10 yrs later , when Quirinius was governor of Syria?
Fair enough. The true Israel has always (both Old and New Testaments) been those of genuine faith. With precise reference to that understanding of 'Israel' there has been no replacement.
I love this history ,I, watching all now . but I'm confuse . luke3:1. say that Tiberius reign 15 years. . he started on year 14 ad. so 15+14makes 29. on year 29 . on Luke 3: 29 . Jesus is 30 years old. how can Jesus born on the 5 BC? can any one explant?
It seems likely that Jesus was born between 5 b.c. and around 2 b.c. The dating system was developed by a second century astronomer named Ptolemy who made some errors in his calculations, and assigned the year zero to the birth of Christ when it was actually a bit earlier. The precise year of Jesus birth remains a matter of some discussion and dispute. Luke does not say Jesus was exactly 30 years old when he began his ministry, but 'about' 30 years old.
Sadly lots wrong with Gore's exposition, but he's done well in the constraint of the time of his lecture - lots of Revelations since then.... The decree of Caesar Augustus was in His 25th Year of reign (Luke 2:1) making that year of registration between 3 and 2 BCE. Joseph combined returning to Bethlehem, with going to one of the feasts that required him to be in Jerusalem 5 miles away. It was The Feast of Tabernacles 26th September of 3 BCE - why? Because Jesus was born in a 'manger' - a sukkot - a tabernacle... Jesus 'tabernacled amongst us' (dwelt) (John 1:14) in Joseph's Sukkot, which Mary had to use because the Inns were full of wives - as their husbands were all in their sukkots, also for the feast. The New Testament doesn't mention which Herod was King at the time of the birth, it could just as easily have been Archelaus. And the 'magi' arrived when Jesus was between 1 and 2 years old - he was that age because Herod killed all children 'from 2 years old' (Matt 2:16) - the magi weren't around 'at the birth' - there were 8 star sign conjunctions that they had been watching as Daniel's Chaldean magi, from 1 Aug 3 BCE to 21 Dec 2 BCE. We know that the magi weren't at the birth because 40 days after Jesus's birth Mary and Joseph presented a pair of turtledoves or pigeons - the paupers presentation gift for a new baby at the Temple (Luke 2:22). If they'd had the gold already, they would have offered more. Think about this bombshell....God had arranged for the gold to be delivered by Daniel's magi 500 years later, to facilitate/fund their escape to Egypt.... Jesus's Ministry was only 1 Year long: AD27-28.... Why? Because it was the 'Acceptable Year of the Lord'... Isaiah 61: being quoted by Jesus in Luke 4:18-21. And: the Old Testament and New continuously reference a "one year old, unblemished lamb"... seems obvious when you think about it - but the 3 and a half year misconception has survived for 1700 years (since the Constantine/Eusebius pagan tag team). Palm Day entry to Jerusalem was on a Sabbath - why... Because Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a Colt - that had never been ridden before. He could have ridden the Ass (the mother) - both were available, but that was an existing working animal which therefore needed a rest on the Sabbath. Jesus steps in ahead of the lamb being lead into Jerusalem by the High Priest - as occurred every year - foreshadowing Christ's arrival that year - on Nissan 10 as required by Exodus 12:3, 5-6 - hence why the Pharisee offers such angst and Jesus responds 'even the stones will cry out'. Nissan 14 Passover follows immediately after the later afternoon sacrifice - and ends the 4 day inspection of the unblemished one year old Lamb. 4 days from the Sabbath get us to Wednesday crucifixion and death at 3pm - the 9th hour, (Sabbath: Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed). Passover is always a High Sabbath and only occasionally coincides with a normal Sabbath. It was on a Thursday in AD28 - we know it was an High Day that they were endeavouring to get Jesus into a tomb before, because John tells us so (John 19:31) - it wasn't a normal Sabbath - he would have said so. Then we get into the Jonas Prophecy: "three days and three nights" in the belly of the whale: Matt 12:38-41. This gets us to the Resurrection on the Sabbath, not "Easter Sunday" - which is a huge Roman Catholic myth, I'm afraid: Wednesday night-Thursday night-Friday night ... three nights and Resurrection on the normal weekly Sabbath. We know this is the case because in Matt 12:10-12, Jesus cures the man with the withered arm - on the Sabbath and asks the pharisees who criticise him if they would "rescue a sheep out of a pit on the Sabbath day"..... in the very same chapter of the Jonas 'three night' prophecy that runs a coach and horses through the Jesuit "Fri-Sun" 'pagan Ishtar narrative'. And before anyone says 'what about Mark 16:9...'. There's a missing comma: Instead of “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene..." It should read - three commas for emphasis: “Now when Jesus was risen,,, early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene," As many will know, punctuation had to be figured out to fit the text - hardly surprising Satan has fought so hard to make this appear like Sunday was the resurrection day... or the Day of Ra, as some might call it... utterly pagan - which has resulted in the Beast (Vatican Antichrist) deceiving the world - including the 'Image of the Beast' - the protestant churches now also in apostacy. Read your 4th Commandment - and work out for yourself what day God wants us to Rest and worship him (and I speak as an ex RC) God bless. Further reading: Chronological Gospels by Michael Rood.
What to say about Bruce Gore? IMHO he is the finest teacher in the world in which we live, but has the worst visuals ever! I love the teaching, but hate the graphics.
What other evidence do you have to support your interpretation of psalms 10? And the other verse you dwell on, that is clearly the Davidic covenant. That he’ll always have a son to sit on his throne, who was the messiah the Jews was looking of , the kingdom of god to be ruled from a ruler of god’s people the Jews. It’s the kingdom of god simple the rule of a Jewish king from the line of David? And if Jesus is not Joseph’s son , how is he David’s son?
How do you have a PhD in history/theology, and haven't come to realize there's no compelling evidence at all for jesus christ? Do you just block this out because your bible says to have faith? How as an academic can you just ignore this? jesus may have existed but absolutely without any compelling evidence is believed as god in the flesh and worshipped by people who dont even read the bible
I also came here thinking it was a historical lecture. I’m likewise baffled that educated people can simply handwave a total lack of contemporary record and speak of the narratives in the bible as tho they’re fact. (the speaker literally made one side comment about Josephus and NT being more or less consistent, if anyone cares to look into it more 🤯 like how can he not care to look into that?! Btw they’re not)
What if the Hebrews Scriptures are TRUE? What if Father YAHweh ( the Hebrew NAME of our heavenly Father and Creator) gave YAHshua His whole NAME at His Resurrection? Now we can say Hallelu-YAHwehShua and give honor to BOTH Father YAHweh and His Resurrected Son. Now read and believe Acts 4:12 may Father YAHweh bless your understanding in YAHwehShua's Name Acts 4: 12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Why do you say "year zero" when you should know very well that the numbering system goes straight from 1BC to 1AD, without a "year zero"? Also, if Jesus was killed at 33.5 years of age (3.5 year ministry, and His ministry started when He was 30 years old), in 30AD then He was born in 5BC, not 6BC or 7BC. That being said, the way that the Jewish calendar is now isn't the way it was set up in Moses' time (there was no such thing as a postponement in his time), and the Babylonian Talmud wasn't written until after Jesus' death, so we don't actually know which version of the calendar was in use at the time of His death, so it's impossible to work backward to find which years are the most likely ones for when He died because we don't know which calendar was in use, much less which years were the leap years (13 months instead of 12). Moreover, the "sign of the prophet Jonah" was that he was in the belly of the great fish for three days *and three nights* so likewise, Christ would be dead for three days and three nights, but the Friday crucifixion theory doesn't work with the three nights of the sign that Jesus gave of His Messiahship. Most of so-called "Christianity" fails to see the *fact* that the Jewish Holy Days are called *Sabbaths* just as Saturday is, and the day before the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is also part of the general days of unleavened bread because all leaven was to be disposed by that day (it's also a preparation day before the annual Sabbath of the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread). The followers of Jesus couldn't buy the embalming herbs on the Sabbath of the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and they couldn't buy them on the weekly Saturday Sabbath, but they had them on the Sunday morning (early, before businesses were opened to buy them), so that means that the whole day's worth of buying and preparing the herbs must've been done on a Friday - the one and only day available between the annual Sabbath and the weekly Sabbath on that week (if there were two non-Sabbath days available, Jesus would've had His body properly prepared before the weekly Sabbath). This means the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread must've been on a Thursday and the crucifixion must've been on a Wednesday. That means He would've been dead Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night and Saturday, being resurrected sometime around sunset at the end of the weekly Sabbath (Saturday), fulfilling the sign of the prophet Jonah properly: three days *and* three nights. Not that this makes it any easier to pinpoint a year of His death, because we don't know whether the Jewish calendar had been changed to include postponements by then, and even if it hadn't, we don't know which years were leap years for the old calendar, so we can't find the years of His birth and death.
Iam not trying to debate you about Jesus at the end Jesus was rejected by the Jews as messiah there are to many holes, in which he didn’t fulfil , the first thing that comes to my mind is had he been the messiah then the third temple should of been built. What I gather from all my studies, knowledge about Jesus is that Jesus was born a Jew a Pharisee but he went off the path(subversive) iam not sure why and he had a contingent of followers in which this threatened all the Pharisees as a takeover but Jesus was not able to convince them they did not buy into him as only Paul was able to leave Jerusalem go to places where no Jews were or very few where there and spread Christianity , so Jesus was a threat to the Jewish traditions and oral laws.
Have you considered how many angels might have been standing in their way? Remember who JESUS is - High Commander of the Heavenly (Angel) Army... Plus HE was also good at disappearing into a crowd when needed. But, I've got a strong inkling that GOD put a spirit of fear on them. Many Blessings!
@@AbelieverofourLord , ok that’s when you have to suspend your reality. Like watching an action movie, you have to suspend your reality in order to believe and enjoy the movie, after the movie you must return to reality. Now come to reality
Thanks for the feedback. All history is, of course, story and narrative. Otherwise we could make no sense of it! For what it's worth, I insist emphatically that the New Testament story is 'tethered' to history. Otherwise the Christian message devolves to mere philosophy. So, to respond to the premise of your comment, I certainly do not 'concede' the non-historicity of the New Testament documents.
Why dont you guys simply think that jesus is a prophet why complicate him by making him son of god.? U guys need to once take a look at what quran say about him..
I guess it is easy to say He is the son of God since God publicly declared him so when Jesus was being baptised by John. God had declared Jesus to be his son even long before he appeared in the flesh in Judea and Samaria. Examples in the prophetic words are many, ie Psalm 2:7 is among others. So what God said during the baptism of Jesus was not new, it was to comfirm the truthfulness of the revelations of previous prophets. I am sorry that you don't believe what God has revealed to mankind through the prophets concerning his Son Jesus the Messiah, but we will rather listen to him than to anyone.
Hey Bruce. You missed 2 very important clues to place your dates correctly. Read Josephus will you. He said when Herod DIED he was 70 years old!!!! The Second clue is when Herod was officially declared being the King of Judea. That year was 33 B.C.!!!!! Therefore its as follows and disregard the so called experts because they all got their dates completely screwed up. Herod was born in 66 B.C. 66 to Zero is 66 years old, Zero makes him 67 years old. At age 70 this puts his death at 3 A.D. Herod died in 3 A. D. From 1 B.C. then it goes to Zero then it goes to 1 A.D. You have to count a Zero for its a NUMBER. The Messiah was born in THE YEAR ZERO!!!!! Around September. Not before or after ZERO. Otherwise the Bible would have been more specific to nail down a date, but since it did not its because that time was a ZERO YEAR. Herod's slaughter of all the Babies took place in the year 1 A.D.!!!!!! This took place after the Birth of the Messiah. Try to remember what some of the Jewish customs were at that time, the weather and surroundings during the Birth of the Messiah. The Battle of Actium took place in 27 B.C. 6 years after Herod was declared King of Judea by Mark Anthony in 33 A.D. Finally if you read the Bible correctly right after the Birth of the Messiah, they fled to Egypt and remained there for 5 years before returning back to Jerusalem and to the city of Nazareth. So when did the Messiah return it was 5 A.D.!!!!! Augustus was still the Emperor at that time!!!! Herod's kingdom was already divided when they returned from Egypt. I suspect that Herods tomb was raided and pretty much destroyed after the entire Herodian Family disappeared from the picture about 2-3 years after the death of the last known immediate family survivor of Herod. Today not long ago we did find the Tomb of where Herod was allegedly buried, including his coffin and his remains were no longer around. Everything was strewn all around inside the Tomb. He was buried in a Purple Robe, loaded with Gold and his scepter was GONE. I believe Josephus actual description and of his dating is accurate, which is the only one known to exist.
why do you keep saying things like Jewish history when jew just means one that belongs to the tribe of Judah. there are 12 tribes and TMH never labelled them all jews or jewish and definitely not ashkenzi jews. and the new covenant was made with the northern and southern kingdoms not everyone. proof of this is the 12 gates that lead into the new kingdom each with the names of the 12 tribes on them. also in Isaiah it say Isaiah 14:1 KJV For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. 2And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.3And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, 4That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! 5The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers. 6He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. 7The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing. the is no such thing as spritiual Israel God has not done away with his ppl. Romans 11:1 KJV 11 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,
Great teaching except for the fact that there is NO information from Jesus, disciples, apostles or anyone else in the entire Bible that states or implies that the Sunday is the new covenant. Sabbath, the seventh day of the week, is eternal, as His Law is eternal, as God Himself is eternal. The new covenant is true, but only apply to Jesus himself as the real Lamb of God, the real and only HighPriest, the Bread of life, the light of the World, all types from the old covenant represented by the earthly tabernacle and priesthood, now fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Sunday as a holy day is a Roman Catholic creature, a pagan day when since Babylon times the sungod was worshiped and a mark that represents those who will one day follow the beast and be antagonic to God's people.
+Je' Czaja Thanks for the feedback. My point was that Josephus was objective vis a vis the Christian faith...certainly not biased in favor of Christianity, as far as we can tell.
Hi Bruce, Do you have any comments about the visits of the 3 Magi from the East from secular historical perspective? From your study, where specifically do you think the 3 Magi come from? Stephen
+salvatore tan There has been a huge amount of speculation on the question, as any decent commentary on Matthew's Gospel will attest. I think the most intriguing theory goes back to Daniel, who may have left a legacy of expectation about the coming messiah among the religious classes in the east, where he lived out his entire career. I do not, however, have any firm theories on the matter. Thanks for your interest!
Hi Bruce, do you come across any record of sighting of the bright shinning star heralding the the birth of Christ in secular historical record? I read that the ancient Chinese recorded some strange sighting in the cosmos around the time of the birth of Christ and the Chinese could have been one of the Magi from the East. Stephen
One of the best lectures of Antiquity I have enjoyed in years.

This is Marc, from a presbyterian church in Spain. Thank you for your publication and dedication.
Looking forward for the Baptist in the morning.
God bless your ministry
Hi , I enjoyed reading your comment very much. ✝️🛐
All right for that Cosmic Legislation! Man you are the bomb! The Holy Week breakdown, the timeline on the happenings in Acts, and , just, everything!!! Thank you man. I appreciate you.
Great job. Love learning Gods Word. Thank you.
I appreciate your work and sharing these studies very much, they are exactly what I have been asking the Lord for, some history and background about Israel and the church. Thank you very much sir.
You are very welcome...thanks for the encouragement!

I am honored to hear from you. Thank you!
Dr. Cindye, as a christian I hope you follow your bible "women are not permitted to teach" 1 Timothy 2:12 - why do you have a PhD? Why don't you follow your bible? Christians dont follow their own religion, ever... it's ridiculous beyond measure
@jack Henry - You need to do a proper exegesis on that passage, it does not mean what you think it means.
What does it mean if not what it says?

I cant tell just how much I appreciate your lectures. God Bless you. You are truly a great teacher and it is my prayer that my adult children will be enlightened by them and more importantly come to know that within them you faithfully preach that there is only one foundation and that is our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
God bless you Mr. Gore and thank you for your work on Biblical Theology, Biblical Hermeneutics and Biblical History.
It really pleases me to see people operate in the gifts that God has bestowed upon them. Your teachings seem effortless and intriguing. Keep the videos coming, you have a faithful listener in me.

Would you be willing to make your lectures/lessons available on CD? I travel a lot and these would be great to listen to while driving.

Hi Bruce, when you said Saturday : the last sabbath of the Old Covenant, can you please expand a bit more about it, thanks.
I am by no means any authority on this but as I understand it there were two Sabbaths that week, Jesus possibly resting in the grave for both, therefore the high Sabbath would be the last Sabbath of the Old Covenant and the following Sabbath the first of the New Covenant?
wow
I say wow too
I'm curious, why do you go with 30 AD over 33 AD for the crucifixion year?
Luke's chronology as to the beginnings of the ministry of John the Baptist. For what it's worth, this is not a hill I'm willing to die on. Many take the 30 ad date, and others differ. On this point, certainty is overrated.
Bruce Gore has tried to present historical narrative and tie it in with the biblical narrative. Grateful to Bruce Gore for his efforts in compiling historical events.
But, the crucifixion timeline is different when the entire sequence is put together from all of the 4 gospels.
However, when Jesus begins His ministry at around 30 years of age, it is AD 27 and after 3 1/2 years of ministry He is crucified in AD 31 on Wednesday (Passover - 14th day of Nisan) and gives up His spirit around 3 PM in the afternoon and because the next day (beginning at 6 PM) is the feast of Unleavened bread (a high Sabbath where no servile work is allowed) they hasten to bury Him before 6 PM as explained below:
John 19:31 > The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an "high day") {being the Feast of the Unleavened Bread} besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away [because they had to bury Him before 6.00 PM as on High Sabbath day no servile work permissible as commanded in Leviticus.]
Leviticus 23:5-7 > In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover.
He ruled Iturea (north) and Perea (south of Iturea), northeast of Jerusalem.
I will explain to you and all how we get three days and three nights
First you have to understand that Jesus was crucified on the 14th (Hebrew calendar) which was on a Friday and he was buried before sunset which still makes it Friday as long he was buried before sunset even one hour before that is considered a whole day, then we have Saturday and likewise Sunday so after the morning prayers which can start on sunrise so right after these prayers it can be considered a full day same is like the seven day morning period one hour in the day is like that day is completed and the seventh day of morning is over and they can get up.
Tiberius joint reign began in 12AD so the 15th year would come to 27AD
You need to look at the Hebrew commentaries on that verse
Chapter 8 verse 22 see the Malbim and see metzoudat david how they answer this question, my approach would be see genesis 32:11 Nachmanides that direction
@@GoreBruce thanks for the quick response.
There is a description of Jesus Christ in old archives in Jerusalem.... from LENTULUS.
How many times did Jesus cleanse the Temple?
The point is disputed, but the majority take the view that Jesus only cleansed the temple once. John puts the event at the beginning of his gospel to serve theological, rather than chronological, interests.
count for me 3 night starting friday night
Germanicus was Tiberius' nephew as was Claudius- Germanicus' brother...
I had two questions:
1) If Jesus was born in 6 BC…which makes sense because of the scriptures and the known date of the death of herod, how could he be alive after 27 AD at the latest?
2) I didn’t see bar mitzpah in the bible, what we can read is that he went to keep the passover as they did every year. Are you able to explain your reference to bar mitzpah anywhere in the scriptures? And why you made that assumption.
The Bible does not give specific information about the age of Jesus at his death. We only know that he was 'about 30 years of age.'
Bar Mitzpah not mentioned, but it is commonly assumed that Jesus' visit to the temple when he was 12 was in anticipation of the bar mitzpah the following year.
Even more, bar mitzvah is a teaching of the Talmud, not a teaching of the Holy Scriptures. These two have nothing to do with each other.
Good thoughts. Thanks!
Aye yi yi
Excellent lecture and I was with you until the use of replacement theology. We are 'grafted in'. We didn't replace anyone.
Thank you. Did you know I found you by accident and everyday I watch you at RUclips. I think you’re the best in demonstrating the Bible
There's a missing comma:
Instead of “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene..."
It should read - three commas for emphasis:
“Now when Jesus was risen,,, early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene,"
As many will know, punctuation had to be figured out to fit the text - hardly surprising Satan has fought so hard to make this appear like Sunday was the resurrection day... or the Day of Ra, as some might call it...
utterly pagan - which has resulted in the Beast (Vatican Antichrist) deceiving the world - including the 'Image of the Beast' - the protestant churches now also in apostacy.
Read your 4th Commandment - and work out for yourself what day God wants us to Rest and worship him (and I speak as an ex RC)
God bless.

Ok why do you have to adjust reality to fit biblical narrative into it. Shouldn’t the story relates to reality?
There is no more compelling evidence than meeting him for yourself. You should try it.
ever heard of francis collins, many educated people have Faith.
Btw they’re not)
Try Tabernacles 15 BC.... 14 BC Tabernacles the wise men came...
What if the Hebrews Scriptures are TRUE? What if Father YAHweh ( the Hebrew NAME of our heavenly Father and Creator) gave YAHshua His whole NAME at His Resurrection? Now we can say
Hallelu-YAHwehShua and give honor to BOTH Father YAHweh and His Resurrected Son. Now read and believe Acts 4:12 may Father YAHweh bless your understanding in YAHwehShua's Name
Acts 4: 12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Bruce you do know that our Hebrew MESSIAH was given His Hebrew because His Name means Salvation of YAH,weh
I can’t believe Jesus flipping over the money changers table in the temple, without getting hands laid on him. Unlikely story
It's interesting how he uses words like 'story' and 'narrative' as if to concede most of the New Testament as non-historical.
Jesus was born 4 bc
The Roman numbering system didn't have a number zero.
why do you keep saying things like Jewish history when jew just means one that belongs to the tribe of Judah. there are 12 tribes and TMH never labelled them all jews or jewish and definitely not ashkenzi jews. and the new covenant was made with the northern and southern kingdoms not everyone. proof of this is the 12 gates that lead into the new kingdom each with the names of the 12 tribes on them. also in Isaiah it say
Isaiah 14:1 KJV
For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
Romans 11:1 KJV
11 I say then, Hath God cast away his people?
But before I forget, thank you Bruce for your lectures and may God continue blessing your ministry!
Tacitus was more qualified to characterize Tiberius than you. You assume too many opinions - mere hearsay.
These are so good-but to say Josephus is objective! Is anyone un-biased? Certainly not a Jew under sponsorship of a Roman.
+Je' Czaja Thanks for the feedback. My point was that Josephus was objective vis a vis the Christian faith...certainly not biased in favor of Christianity, as far as we can tell.
Hi Bruce,
Do you have any comments about the visits of the 3 Magi from the East from secular historical perspective?
Stephen
