Thank you, I really enjoyed this story. Although I describe myself as a sceptic, I love folklore. I once lived in Donaghadee, a seaside town about 15 miles from Belfast. A pub in the Town called Grace Neills is reputedly the oldest in Ireland, first opening it's doors around 1611. The pub boasted many famous visitors including Peter the great and Daniel Defoe, as in the 17th century Donaghadee was one of the main points of entry to the north part of Ireland. The pub was reputedly haunted because three sailors disappeared after leaving the place, never to be seen again in it's early days. In the 1950s when a public toilet was being built in a lane, known locally as Murder Row, workers uncovered the skeletal remains of three men. After police concluded that the remains were ancient they handed the scene over to archaeologists. It was concluded that the remains were those of the three sailors who had been robbed and murdered after leaving the inn to return to their ship, via the lane which led to the harbour. My wife worked in the off licence belonging to the pub but never heard or seen anything untoward.
@@scotlandshistory In the 80s, when we lived in Donaghadee, Grace Neill's was a small, family run pub. It has a fascinating history and, at that time some interesting local characters as patrons. One of them was a crew member of the Donaghadee life boat and was aboard the vessel when the Princess Victoria floundered in a storm whilst sailing from Scotland. I think he was forever haunted by the fact his crew failed to find the ship and the only survivors were rescued by the Portpatrick lifeboat crew. Hardly anyone even knows about the tragedy and Grace Neills is now a modernised version of an "Irish pub" beloved of American tourists. Not all change is for the better, glad you liked the story. ❤
Hi and thanks, Scotland's History for sharing. It's almost time for "Halloween"??? The lost souls are everywhere in this world...I don't know because those lost souls obsess with something and came back to claim it or just do not realize they do not exist in this world... I have chills and goose bumps on my arms.... I do not favor the local businesses taken an advantage of this and enticing PPL to visit. Well done.🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Thank you very much for watching. The local businesses thought they could make a fast buck. They never gave the terrified woman and her family a second thought.
Poor Mrs Gillies, she must have been terrified. Especially after the medium told her to keep using the room, where the Devil was present ...😲
I think so too, as would I have been!

😳 Já vivi nesta região em outra época...👹👹👹
It's a great area for exploring, especially with Stirling and the Ochil Hills on the doorstep. Thank you so much for watching.
There's probably a good number of haunted places in Scotland.
There are. The country is full of them.
Perhaps it wasn't a foreign language and they were simply Geordie ghosts 🤷♀️
That's certainly a possibility. Thank you for watching!
