Good evening everyone, I hope you're all well. Thank you so much for dropping in on my review of the new SEAT Leon FR - what do you think of it guys? Do you own one, what do you think of it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
USB-C is the future. Main advantage is a more secure connector that is reversible, so no fiddling, always trying to put it in the wrong way round on the first try. Can’t make a brand new car and have type b or the car will be stuck in the past for for the next few years. Cough up some pennies for a new cable or use adaptors for your legacy cables. Most new devices come with USB C cables. Type b should have died years ago. Sorry for the rant.
i think you mean type A, type B is even more obscure, but i totally agree, no point in type A these days for a new car when all current smartphones mostly have type c cables.....a new type c cable probably cost as much as that adapter he uses!
just moved from the Ford Focus after driving it for the last 16 years, no not the car being 16 years old, I've been fortunate to get a new lease car each year for my job. I am very familiar with them that I have to agree it drives better, has smoother gears changes, it has a more comfortable ride and it has been a very very reliable car. Deciding on the Seat Leon FR 1.0l has been a very thorough thought through process to ensure I was completely happy with my decision and I must say it hasn't disappointed...much...I do like the modern sportier look and feel, it is a very fun car to drive, full of trendy features but I wish I could put the digital display and infotainment in the Focus and still drive the focus, I believe its engineering is better than the Leon (Ford better keep up with the times, its old and boring system is not to par with the Leon). The 1.0l Focus I had was faster off the mark, punchy little engine, the Leon is too and not far behind but it asks for earlier gear shifting making you drive in 6th gear at 40mph or else get told off. We've gotten used to it now because it is a quite smart little car even parks itself 🤣
Interesting. Can I ask which trim and engine you've had in your last Focus and current Leon? Just so we know we're comparing apples to apples (as far as that goes when comparing car brands)
Just bought one of these in Mystery Blue today. Should have probably checked your video out before buying but I think your review was fair looking at both the pros and cons. I agree with what you have said and glad to be back with SEAT after going over to Vauxhall for a short time!
I owned a 2017 Seat Toledo 1.0 TSi Xcellence for three years until July 2020, as I am sure that you remember. I also tested a 2016 Leon ST 1.4 TSI FR DSG on my channel last year. I prefer the styling of the previous generation to this one, especially from the rear, although the interior does look quite nice. I don't like the touch buttons for the heating and ventilation, though. I am sure that it does drive very well, does the 150 bhp 1.5 TSI engine still have cylinder deactivation? Very good comprehensive review as always, thank you, Aaron!
I like the new Leon, just not sure about touch screen only controls. I have a 2019 Cupra and love it, (apart from the overzealous stop start system, so I switch that off every time I get in). Will look at the new Cupra in a few years.
Such a good review! I bought one of these, and as to kill time before it is delivered, I'm watching all reviews on the car, and I am surprised by the low amount of views you have on it, and low sub count! I'm confident if you keep it up, you'll grow bigger for sure!
@@Umar_1994_ It is absolutely fantastic. The car is super comfortable, and incredibly advanced. Way more than any of the videos describe it as. I got the FR fully equipped, which comes with a ton of stuff... But it has autopilot whenever there's lines for the car to follow, Adaptive Cruise Control, automatic breaking, etc. Even when you do not have the car on autopilot, the car knows when you are approaching a turn, a roundabout, etc, and it automatically breaks you ever so slightly if you are going too fast, etc. It is a really, really smart car. I made a 4000km trip recently, driving 10h a day, and the car did 80% of the driving on its own, which is really comfortable. The seats are great. The only downside to it is that the infotainment sometimes glitch, it's a bit slow on start, and the phone sometimes disconnect. I don't know if it's Apple Car's fault, the car's fault, or something else, but I don't know. I'm really happy with the car, however. Economy wise, the car does great. 6.5l/100km of average, which is rather good if you ask me.
@@layanmorningstar I'm contemplating getting the 1.5 TSI excellence trim with DSG gearbox. I would have liked to take the eHybrid but I really need the 380 litre boot capacity instead of 280.
Fr is just a trim now bar the suspension and sport seats, the last decent fr i had was the 184bhp pd(same model as leo) was hella fun to drive! I then got the newer model that was good too but just didn't have the same fun factor and it felt it was lacking that stand out sportyness! That being said the Leon is a very good car and personally only the golf comes close being the same car in seat clothing and all that I don't think Ford even come close the engine are dull the gearbox are garbage each to their own tho!! Great video buddy 👍
Yeah, having that controls in the touch screen put me right off this, its like they never considered the fact that you are driving and going over bumps not really able to look at the screen. Bought an older model instead.
With no FR badge up front it looks like a standard SE. Also £34,395 for a Leon FR 1.4 204 PS Hybrid. Yeah not gonna be a big seller I think considering if you want a sporty Hatch £36,315 will get you a 310 PS Audi S3 quattro S tronic.
Hi there, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. From what I can see from SEAT's press release in 2020 it doesn't feature either, but it does have front and rear parking sensors. I hope this helps.

Don't complain about USB-C. It's the current standard. There is no "normal" USB. I think you meant USB-A. And that is no longer the "proper USB"...
You should have mentioned that it is also available with an 1.5 l with 150hp which is too fun to drive and has great performance ! (I own one )in overall great review!
It's 2021 and I have: Laptop with USB-C, phone with USB-C, tablet with USB-C, headphones with USB-C, second headphones with USB-C. All of these charged with the same charger. What else is standard usb if not this? Wake up, stop complaining about missing USB-A.
Hello Viktor, thanks for watching. Congratulations for having new, state-of-the-art equipment 👏🏽. Not everyone is as fortunate to be in your position and therefore do not have the latest tech. For example, a lot of my equipment, including my smartphone, are USB A. Thanks for the comment.
@@CarObsession I get it there are people who are still using USB A. But calling USB C something silly, non standard, non-proper-USB is unprofessional. I'm assuming your phone does have USB C, it's just your charger that has USB A port. Only thing you need is just USB C to USB C cable. To me, I really appreciate what Skoda and Seat are doing with including USB C ports. I very liked your video, though. Honest and fair. Keep up the good work!

Our previous gen Leon FR is in Magnetic Grey. We wanted mystery blue but a friend has an Ibiza in that colour and he said it scratched very easily. As confirmed by the dealer🤔
congratulations great review. could you tell me how the stock sound system feels (not the beats sound)? How many speakers does it have, where are they positioned and the specific or total watts rms? Some say 6 speakers who 7 and who 8 and who 9 incredible not even seat from certain answers sometimes says 6 sometimes 7 speakers !!!! Tell us if it has 6 speakers: 2 rear woofers with the tweeters above near the opening absolutely empty and fake, 2 forward woofers plus 2 tweeters. Or 7 speakers: as before and an additional central speaker hidden in the dashboard? Or 8 with real tweeters behind but without hidden central speaker in front? Or 9 with everything, 5 at the front and 4 at the back? It is absurd not to find this information certain and to find it all but there is only one truth and what is it?

Commenting in 2022 and these cars used would be very inconvenient now with anything other than USB C. Seat chose wisely.
3 years later and now I'm glad that there are all usb-c
Seat Leon 1.5 Tsi needs 8.4 seconds to do the 0-60. But in real world it's 8.1 seconds... And 221km/h (137mph) top speed. Pretty sporty if you ask me!
