Great game. Both teams have some solid players.
I question a couple of those calls on Angel City goals. Tight calls.
first offside call to deny the goal was right.. second ref decision was bizarre... those encouters happens 100s of times during a game.
It looked like she tried to reach around for the ball, which is fine, but got the leg instead. That's a foul. No, not a card; but still a foul.
great game, don't fault any of the players on either side, but it's tough when we come away feeling like the game was decided by refereeing and not the teams' effort.
Tough, tough night for Angel City, but hey they showed they have the fire and have a great chance to make the post-season. Glad Tweed won't be among the coaches fired during the season by an impatient team...

this Loss is an expensive one... if only defenders executing better.. look at Gorden overconfidently starting to dribble.. look at 2 just jogging back *next to eachother when things got dangerous... far too much space between defenders and opponents.. how is Jee able to score with 2 defenders in front of her - yes, standing in a straight line and turning away afraid for a shot instead of acting to block it... a LOT of basic work still needed...

*Lousy refereeing. (1) The referee stole a penalty from A.C. in the second half. (2) The third Seattle goal was offside. If Huitema has not touched the ball, then it was a legitimate goal, but she did touch the ball; therefore, it was offside (3) The second goal of AC was a legitimate goal for Leroux didn't foul the Reign player; she went after the ball. Where do they find these referees who don't know soccer rules.*

They followed Katie Zelem from the UK. Google footage of the ‘penalty’ given against her for Reading when playing for Utd.
(For point 1) Those are really random, sometimes they give it and sometimes they don’t. I think they need to create a better rule for those decisions! It struck her arm, but her arm wasn’t in an unnatural position , nor did it gave the team an obvious advantage.
(For point 2)No, it wasn’t offside. The player that tapped it in was slightly behind the player that took the initial shot. 4:40.
(For point 3) Soft foul but a foul, she prevented the player from getting rid of the ball, I seen penalties given when the defending does the same to the attacking player and rightfully so.
Seems to me you have no idea what offside is. The referee officials had a decent game.
1) I have no clue what a handball is these days, surprised it wasn't called.
2) Huitema is *behind* the ball when King shot it, therefore not offside. Plus, King was credited with the goal, which means Huitema didn't officially touch it anyway.
3) Leroux doesn't touch the ball at all and bungles into Lester's right leg, preventing her from properly clearing the ball. 100% a foul.
Still getting use to the fact that my captain is playing for Angel City. Going to miss her in a red shirt 😞
Did ACFC deserve to win this game? I honestly don't know. They played complacent when Thompson scored and looked really sloppy for the rest of the first half.
But they did at least deserve a tie.
That Haracic penalty is a BS one, but they are going to call it since they called the EXACT same penalty on her last year vs Gotham.
The handball no penalty was pretty egregious.
I'm not mad about the no goal from Vignola since Leroux was offsides.
But that goal by Hammond which was waved off was so BS. WTH was Leroux supposed to do there? She was contesting for the ball!!
The NWSL and their inconsistent officiating. And you wonder why this league still has ways to go.
Please don't complain about inconsistency when your list of grievances includes "they called the EXACT same penalty on her last year" - it makes your argument look silly. What was Leroux supposed to do? Not kick her opponent, for one...
Absolutely atrocious referee. These amazing players deserve better, and us fans too. What a great match from both sides but in my mind ACFC gets the W.
hate to moan about refs but this one stung. I think most of his calls were marginally defensible, but it still seemed 🤔.
serious question: anyone clear on rationale for playing on after disallowing 67' goal ... why not free kick where he called advantage?
anyhoodles...tho it was way too late, proud of acfc for their fight in 2nd half (on offense at least). earlier this season I think we would've just folded so yay?!
I was at the stadium and fully engaged with the game.
- The penalty at 28min can be argued both ways. I still didn't see fault with the goalie, but ok, let's give Seattle the benefit/advantage of a penalty kick. They scored. Let's move on.
- At 51:47, HANDball by Seattle.... was NOT called. This should have been a PENALTY for A.C-
- At 57:58, OFFsides by Seattle... this goal should NOT have been allowed to stand.
- At 66:33, this was a goal for A.C. ...... #16 was NOT passing the ball, she KICKed it! No pass attempt was made nor supported by other Angel players...... I can't believe that this was called back by this Ref..... The worst call that I have seen against A.C. this season.
- At 84:44, this was a goal for A.C........ #2 and #13 were both playing the ball, with neither intending nor positioning to foul the othe: #2 did NOT intend to foul nor fouled #13...... A REALLY bad call by the REF to not allow this goal.
Seattle's players KNEW they got more than 2 VERY CRUCIAL bum calls that went their way, especially their goalkeeper whose body language was apparent that she was scored against. (she didn't complain and didn't register any issues after those 2 A.C. goals that were taken back by the REF.
Just a horrible series of calls by this REF. !!!HORRIBLE!!!
This game should have ended as a win for Angel City outright, or possibly a Draw if proper officiating was made on the pitch. Seattle did not deserve nor be credited with a win in this game.
A.C. was robbed last night.

That handball is rarely going to get called. The criterion under law 12 is was her arm in a justifiable position or was she making herself bigger. The ball was deflected from ground level three feet from her by a teammate at right angles (away from goal) from the direction the ball had been traveling to her arm which was away from her body but not stretched out. There's no rationale for saying that she was trying to make herself bigger in defense. Unless one wants a handball called every time a ball contacts an arm, or else wants every player to defend with her arms behind her back, this is a perfect example of ball-to-hand, or accidental handball..
