    It feels so great after finally seeing an addon like this that brings Houdini-like functionality into Blender.

    So awesome!! Suddenly the best liquid sim for Blender pops from the blue screen! Who would guess.. To me there is only one or two thing missing: the dynamic UV mapping of the liquid, so any pattern in it follows the liquid flow (which I believe is not an easy thing to do); and perhaps the ability to produce sticky droplets that resist falling, similar to sweat on sdy forehead, if not yet existent. Oh, and one more thing: the liquid get partially drained out when we use wet maps, as if the surface is absorbing the liquid. Theses are all thing present in Chaos Phoenix.

    Great addon, Congratulations. one question please, what kind of PC do you use, i have with the simple Inflow Sim, after baking, only 5.5 frames when playing, you 25. I have an RTX 3090 and an i9 1300K, 64Gig Ram.
    Thanks

      you must bake the mesh in GN. But in the current version the Bake node is not set correctly. In our next update it will be possible to bake the GN mesh directly from FluidLab and it will improve the workflow a lot.

    Does this come with presets? I find it so hard to use the blender fluid because of all these arbitrary numbers/settings. Having presets at least lets you get a feel for viscosity,stickiness etc .
    An addon that frees me from 200 tests before success would be lovely.

    • @b3fxstudios
      @b3fxstudios  3 месяца назад +1

      You have several presets. Water, Honey, Oil, Sand... and you can create your own.
      The settings vary depending on the scale of the emitter.

    Could you show me how to pass a scene with the addon's collections with another scene that has its collections. The thing is that I have the destruction of a building and a plane and I want to integrate them into a scene.

    • @b3fxstudios
      @b3fxstudios  4 месяца назад

      That is complicated, if not impossible. There are many dependencies between the collections that are generated with the addon and the addon itself. In the future we will add a “Scene Presets” option where you can save a preset of all emitters and load it in any other scene.

    I just bought this, and am trying to run it on 4.0.2, but the Fluid Settings in Emission are completely missing! Now I guess I have to install another new version of Blender and got through all that headache of getting all my custom settings working before I can even start to use this add-on! Sheesh

    Will this work in Blender 4.0? Or it is built only for 4.1?

    • @zebus3d
      @zebus3d 4 месяца назад

      It is intended and tested in 4.1. The addon as such would work, except that from blender 4.0 to blender 4.1 they renamed the icons, and then the addon will probably give error in 4.0 because it uses the names of the icons of blender 4.1.

    Damnnnnn... trying to give the FlipFluids add-on people a run for their money, huh? :)

    • @digitalrage5
      @digitalrage5 4 месяца назад +2

      i don't think so, fluids on FlipFluids are more better, i think that RDB could create a great ecosystem with their sim addons but this last one need more to work on (the drips falling from the rocks seems too unnatural). I keep in example always Chaos Phoenix sim on max and they're even better than blender's; if they want to succed with fluidlab they need to have Phoenix as target.

    • @tbuk8350
      @tbuk8350 2 месяца назад

      @@digitalrage5 This addon is more suitable for smaller-scale sims. FLIP Fluids uses the FLIP fluid solver (duh), which is a realistic method of solving for fluid dynamics that is great for large-scale fluid simulations and things like whitewater fluids. The downside is both FLIP and APIC fluids are extremely computationally expensive and take AGES to simulate.
      On the other hand, FluidLab uses SPH fluids, which are very computationally inexpensive (so little in fact, that they've been used in games for a while, Nvidia PhysX has had SPH fluids for over a decade). It's essentially just a group of particles that try to stay together and are meshed over to smooth the end result, hence the name "Smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH)". This is trivial for a modern computer to calculate, and isn't volumetric so interactions with colliders such as a rigidbody are much easier, unlike FLIP fluids which ARE volumetric, and tend to clip through moving or thin geometry without an unreasonably high resolution. The volumetrics are also why FLIP fluids need a domain, otherwise the domain size would be infinite and your computer would run out of memory and crash. The only software I've seen pull off FLIP fluids interacting with multiple other body types (cloth, rigidbody, softbody, etc.) and not be constrained by domains, is Houdini, and fluid demos in that software STILL blow my mind because of that. They have some voodoo-magic shit going on for that to be possible, and they are NOT going to release the details of how they did it, they are currently the only option if you want that level of intractability (though it looks like the RBDLab team is trying to do something similar with their ecosystem here).
      Anyway, there isn't really much you can do to make an SPH solver look better than this. Fluid Lab is actually the best I've seen, it looks pretty convincing and is extremely performant.
