      Fonejacker they kept it secret for years and years to not fuck up their film sales. Makes one wonder what alternatives exist to oil that are kept secret to protect oil sales.

      @@spezkay81 As much as I hate to see a classic company go under, you're right, the did and they deserved what they got.
      To the second part of your comment, solar and batteries can pretty much do most of what oil does, other than make products like plastic. Edit: Point is, we don't need to wait for new miracle tech, we just need to start better implementing what we have and build on that. Cheers from Nebraska!

      Kodab could have embraced it. And make a new experimental market, really stupid of them not to do so.

    And when and who made the first digital Video?

  • @caroljeanscott5571
    @caroljeanscott5571 3 года назад +4

    I was like the Eastman Kodak. It took me a long time for me to switch over to digital as I did not want to see film die. In 2013, my husband gave me a new digital camera for Christmas, so for awhile I was using both. Now I just use the digital. I feel my digital camera takes better pictures then a smart phone and the one advantage of digital is you have the pictures right away. On the other hand you always have better tracking of your pictures taken with film because you can always keep your negatives. With a digital camera, I feel it is easier to loose your pictures as computers hard drives crash and computer external storage units are changing which could make it harder to keep track of your digital prints because the old technology becomes obsolete making it harder to access .

      You can also print out digital prints as 4x6 (10x15cm), same as film prints and buy a photo album to, to place them in

    I wonder why Kodak didn't run with this new tech back in the late 70s. They could have continued to sell film. With tech that no one else had couldn't they have made a killing ? Even if at first the digital cameras were a bit heavy. I think they would have sold like hotcakes. The money coming in from these camera sales could have fueled development that would have made the new digital cameras simpler and cheaper for the public much sooner. Sure it would eventually kill their film sales. But they could have led the new industry. They could have eventually licenced this tech to other manufacturers.

    I would give the credit to the designers and developers of the CCD chip, and the person who converted the signals to images, maybe Sassen played a big part in that but it seems to me that his technician did all of that, the idea Sassen came with is very obvious, he just got the opportunity. BTW, he didn't even came up with it, his boss gave him a camera and a chip so he already thought of the possibilities.

    Lol I legit use a old Kodak digital camera from the 2000s, found it interesting because a digital camera in the 1970s, when they really popped off in the late 90s early 2000s, but in the 2010s they switched to phones, I mainly honestly prefer a digital camera, it had better quality than a phone and doesn't lose quality in the image when zooming in because the has a actual lens that moves in and out, there is digital zoom for most digital cameras but it's only used when it needs to be, I have a newer digital camera that's a different brand from the 2010s, I still don't know if I like it as much, yes better quality, but that's not that much of a difference I find, so I use both for the time being, and who knows may be better on my new digital camera when I get used to it

    A "digital" camera that had a cassette tape in it. The definition of analogue! Might as well called be the first and last analogue camera.

    • @mrhobs
      @mrhobs 5 лет назад +12

      Actually it was digital tape, recorded digitally. Meaning it stored information or values. Think about computers... They are completely digital, even the ones from the 70s and 80s. They primarily used floppy disks and and tapes to store and read data, that data being digital 1s and 0s. Many computers still use hard disk drives (but increasingly solid state drives), which are especially spinning magnets that can store data. Same concept as a tape.

      Lol well yeah technology it is, cheaper having a film camera you scan at high resolutions than a digital camera lower than the scans that cost more, you can scan film up to about 87mp or more, that's more than most dlsrs, but I've never used flim, only 3 digital cameras and phone's
