As a kid that grew up in the 70's it is impossible to overstate just how EPIC this was at the time.
I agree. I was 5 in '78 and this was THE SHIT!!
@@Gurkha73able I was 5 also. Happy 50th birthday, homie! 😄

Weird to think, but there were people your age walking by that day talking about how it was so much better to be a kid in their day.
I grew up in Anahiem, my house is across the way from a shopping center that used to have a surplus store which a kid sized tank that was drivable, they filmed a part of an episode there!!
CHiP's, Venice Beach and the 70's, how can you go wrong?!
let me think, add tattoos and bulges to the bottom half of the bikinis ?
Bringing all the pros out together in the same place at the same time

I absolutely believe that the key to world peace is more roller disco.
more roller disco less democracy...renovate all these old useless senate chambers into roller disco rinks.
I know I probably stand alone on this, but I believe the world lost a little of its soul when they canceled C.H.I.P.S.
Those were the days where you would have lots of fun. I'm glad to see that the 4 wheels roller blades are coming back and few places are opening arenas.
Someone please deposit me back in the 70s…😊
It must be. Look at how happy they are
Oh, to live in Venice Beach in the late 70’s and early 80’s.........couldn’t be any better.
so good to see natural normal looking people ..........
California is a freak show today
@@bradlafferty6076 which is what prompted his above comment, thank you Mr.Obvious!! ;)
Today they'd be covered in grotesque tattoos and piercings, bathed in a climate of hatred for the Highway Patrol.
Yup, now at least half of those people would be obese.
Lol 😂
It’s crazy to think these young people are grandparents on the verge of great grand parenthood!
Virtually everyone on skates and in the crowd is aged 20-30, Eric Estrada and the brunette he's chatting up (Kathrine Baumann) are both 75 this year... Plenty of Great Grandparents already, some on the verge of Great Great Grandparents at this point.
If I could time travel, this wonderful time period would be one of my visits ☺️
Grew up in the 70s. Glad I was able to have a normal childhood. Ever notice how nice women looked back then compared to now?
I think we were much better off back then :)

I love watching CHiPs. These episodes were the most enjoyable part of my childhood. I miss those days.
When Venice Beach was clean and beautiful. Also love the soundtrack on CHiPs.

Goddamn, I miss the 70's.

Cool, good Infos! :)
Pretty sure Rosie Perez was in this too
Thanks dude for the FYI . . .The Baumann girl sounded familiar, and when I looked at IMDB, she was Henry's "love interest" in one of the best MASH episodes ever. So thanks again for pointing her out. Take care.

"Beach-disco how interesting thank-you ponch & jon for 6 year's of keeping the streets safe from criminals".
The 70's had it all, great music, cool actors, great storey lines, fashion was so interesting & daring, no pc crap, just a total feel good atmosphere. Why can't we have all of that now.......... I was 5... now I know why I love disco. Watching this in tv
I was 1 and even at that age I can remember disco, watching CHiPs... you name it
Lots of bikini babes in this 1978 CHIPS beach disco episode classic!
Hot young bikini babes on skates they could dance on skates.
70's women are lovely sexy
Women in red
That's how I remember it! Without all of the homeless camps, passed out drug addicts and poop piles. The Venice/Playa Del Rey area used to be a beautiful place back before the 90's.

Mercy Sakes! They don't make women like this anymore! 😍
They were wholesome and hot back then
@@bradlafferty6076 true, but the feminist-propaganda was already getting to them. They've been doing it since before the 50's, they just keep ramping it up.
Ah yes, I was probably 15-16 years old when this CHiPs show was released. Looking back, kids like me did not realize how good we had it. Of course there were problems with things like inflation, high interest rates, gas prices, etc. A big difference between then and now is back then people tended to have a more relaxed, almost carefree attitude. This is reflected in many TV shows of that era. Today, while many things have improved, people typically are much more serious. There are too few smiling faces.
but we did worry about the all those serial killers back in the 70's and 80's.
Everybody just looks gorgeous, slim and suntanned and 70's dance music in the background, what a time to be young!!!
Woman looked so much better back in the day
Damn right

Whoa, THE SEVENTIES... ♥️
1:57 La femme en bleu, son short est très moulant et elle ne porte pas de soutif... Quelle belle époque !
I love it! Honestly, though, MAYBE it was like this in Hollywood or LA, but we didn't have gangs of beautiful bikini girls disco rollerskating all over America like it shows here. If it was really like this, it would have never ended and we would all be doing roller disco today.
I grew up in Southern California at this time. Beach Disco's would literally break out at any moment of the day.
Where are these people now. I wonder how their lives are going. Wonderful nostalgia.
senior citizens.
We have way more technology today unlike 1978 but where's the fun😮😮😮😢😢😢.
funny how some of these fit young people are now in the early 70's to 80 years old and the kids in the background are in their 50's.

Nice catch. This was probably a full day or two of filming.
We will never see people gathered together having fun, good music and dancing like this again. This is TRUE diversity, not the woke crap of today!!!
Define "woke".
I have no idea what you mean by ‘woke crap’.

Yeah, and the crotch shots were pretty great, too.
That was TV in the 70s. Ahhh, memories...

My first pair of skates as a kid in the '70s had metal wheels.
Notice how everyone was in shape... what the hell happened?
Fat and lazy, depressed. I think I am the only slim one in my family of the adults.
Microwave.
Monsanto, processed foods, contaminated soil, polluted air & water, mandatory vaccination. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED !

A beautiful time to be alive for sure. Everyone was happy, having a great time, most were kind to each other, very healthy & in shape, & most of all.....no one got offended/triggered !!!!

Every succeeding generation has higher incidence of mental illness and unlike older generations such as baby boomers the mental illness does not subsidemwith age. We are creating new generations of imps incapable of dealing with stresses of everyday life. Worse yet average IQ is declining which means these mental midgets blame the world for their failings. Similarly, they are easily brainwashed to support irrational causes like false climate change agenda that have zero net benefit to their future well-being or success.

Say what you want about the Goofy Disco Music and dance.. but People in the 70's were in SHAPE ... Every single Person was thin and could dance.. and that is saying something.
Fitness and health on full display.
The 70's roller skate trend had several unintended conseqences. In many states people had to register themselves as a motor vehicle. This skewed several key government statistics including the number of homeless people living in an area. Law enforcement stopped picking up many homeless and just issued parking citations if they wore skates.

I thought for sure Ponch was going to show them how it’s done. Apparently he is only good at disco dancing without skates…as well as hang gliding, sky diving, motocross, BMX, etc. Ponch is awesome!
Cool one
back before supersized portions were a thing.
Actually it's the Roller Derby Beach Disco. Much better than figure skating. Wish Tara Lipinski was in there though.
Just before inline skates were common. I would see many of those people around LA back then as my girlfriend went to Samohi and lived in Malibu in 1978. I must be getting old now because my wife and I have gray hair and too much fat in the wrong places when we used to look perfect and people would sigh and gasp when we walked by. One of those guys, Todd Bridges bought a house from my Aunt in the Valley for example. I met Linda Carter in person and seeing her in 2D does not do her justice.
