fishing farms and they don't work for me except for this one that you showed, thank you
In Java 1.13, works until you catch your first fish. Then the rod recasts over and over and over but never keeps the bobber in the water long enough to trip the tripwire, thus the piston never retracts. If you let off the casting button for a second, the bobber will stay in the water and it works, but that would defeat the purpose of AFK if you have to pull off the button after every catch. This needs some sort of delay to work, or perhaps we need to switch the torch for a repeater and redstone?
I've done several of these AFK fishing farms and it's just that you have to have the mouse exactly in the right place for this to work.
Its working on a 1.13 Vanilla Server. I have to say it took me a while to find the right spot, but finally it is working now. I want to mention that I build it next to a big sea and everything works.
i tried this in ss 18w16a and the water just ran right through the half slab but i placed another trap door on top of the chest and that contained the water
Yes i know, that happened to me too. I didint use this design tho, instead, i used another afk fish farm and the same thing happened. I hope someone still creates an automatic fishing farm.
I got one fish and then my fishing rod broke. What did i do wrong? Was it the angle of my fishing or was it the delay thing that I read about? Not much of a redstone user
If anyone is curious the old 1.12 afk fish farm from xuma still works, you just need to put an upright slab behind the block, a second water source under the iron trap door, and position pole at the edge of noteblock iron trap door. You could possibly use a door instead of a note block. 20180801_185047.jpg
Superb video. This works much easier than the Noteblock style for me and even on a laggy server. Simplest and the best version.
I tried this and needed to tweak it a lil. That trapdoor noise, ugh. Traded the trapdoor for a noteblock with a block on top, and silence! I also added a block on the right side of the trapdoor (now a noteblock) and a dot of redstone on it to activate the noteblock. My first redstone success. Cheers Nic!!

This doesn't work long for me as the water keeps going onto redstone some how. I have changed the trapdoor to the note block and still the same thing happens.
I just built this one in survival. You definitely want to turn block sounds down with the trap door flapping constantly. I also needed a repeater with a tick of delay facing into the piston for it to work. I do prefer how this one looks/ functions over the typical noteblock/trapdoor versions. Well done.

Please help so this works but AFTER it catches a fish the rod reels back in so it dosent work afk!!!!
Same here, can only get one time and then rod loses its position. Perhaps replacing the piston/wooden trapdoor with the old noteblock/iron trap door with redstone repeater combo?

just use tape on your mouse button. or put something on top of the mouse button like a book
that is now you can not make a mistake with the game so that she herself was pressed the right button of the mouse but if so I did a macro and with it I was able to put an automatic clamping of the right mouse button
My bobber only trips the wire half the time, like its not high enough

It's not supposed to disappear, it's just my version having a graphical glitch. :)
Does not work on win10 edition, the wire is not even going down to the waters level.
I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I right click and hold but nothing happens. It casts, but then just sits there. In the videos ppl cast over and over super fast. That doesn’t happen for me.
It should do that and at some point reel in a fish.
i built my own fish farm but the rod sinks down everytime i throw it into the water and then the door closes :/
I am on bedrock realms and have this same issue. I have tried several of the newer afk fish farms, but my rod will not keep auto-casting even when I hold right-click. I will see a fish pull on the lure, but it does not catch, and the rod never pulls in and recasts. I wonder if it is a rt-click issue for realms only. (as a side note, I have had working farms up until the update aquatic, so i know what a working system looks like.
i found a solution: you have to place a block above the trapdoor and then it works... i dont know why but its a little bit strange

right click just keeps recasting...
It did this for me too but I figured out that if you stand exactly the way they stand in the video, it works perfectly!

lol... that has nothing to do with ios...
i don't know... in older versions it works perfectly but in 1.13 pre releases it don't work at all. unless you keep holding the right click..

iddk, take something heavy and some duct tape, and when u let it afk the trapdoor has to open and close by your right click, if u understand what i mean, and it works for me.

Interestingly enough, it's working for me just fine. Even though it's not opening and closing the trapdoor.

this doesn't work on 1.13-pre1 you have to reset it every time you catch a fish not a AFK fish farm really.

Do NOT use this design in 1.13! Piston Fish Farms on servers are unreliable
Water can and WILL glitch through the side of the blocks because you use a piston due to ping lag. If you are AFK'ing with a script that let's you do other stuff in on your computer you _will_ inevitably be pushed to the side by the glitched water and lose your rod.
Xisuma's 1.12.2 Fish Farm still works in 1.13 and it does not have this issue.
