This brass set off aliexpress was pretty good last time I ordered it. Takes awhile to get but saves some cash if you decide to go for a scale look but need that extra weight. Should be a good set for this truck.

Bro, that 1st vid was a classic! We all know the Mods are trail/scale trucks and not hard core crawlers.. but we come here for Your honest opinion and you gave it. Thank you.
This should have been a 2nd vid showing the add-ons and value. Best color option out there IMO.
Last, I’d rather see you drive what/how you want. Pull the rack off, set the topper aside. Show us what a bare bones K5 can do with links, shocks, and wheels. Still a deal at $199 for a trail/scale FCX.
Dont let the other people give you shit about getting paid off, they are just jealous, there looking for a weak spot because they are sour that they are not geting a truck sent to them. Im happy you put in that apology part, to keep the review balanced. Im on the fence on buying this vs the trx4m high trail, and i care about both sides of the car, scale and performance are equal for me. You seem like the type to tell the truth.

Really appreciate that. The new high trail looks amazing and I like that it’s stretched a bit. It’s going to perform much better that way. Just wish it had better gearing or a two speed out of the box lol

i'm glad you called yourself out on that video. i remember watching it and it felt very negative for a RTR of decent quality. i'm no comp expiert, but my k5 blazer w/o the bed-shell is badass. keep up the awesome videos man.
Love the video. You can always switch the glass with the black blazer so that the interior shows.
I just put on the red Batrazzi steering links/high clearance links/shocks , on my black K5.... I'm a newbie, but with a little internet help, I installed everything perfectly .... I hope! lol
Clear on the front window but keep the sides dark. I do the back window clear to.

I recently bought my first Fcx24 K5 blue mod on a $99 blk Friday sale.
It joins a stable of Axial’s & Trx4m’s.
I am impressed so far. It is certainly not a waste of money.
2 speeds is the sht!!
But why I am writing this? It’s about the rear window or lack of.
I know these company’s try to cut costs here and there. I can certainly live w/o a window I’m never going to look out of, LOL!
But ya think they could put a damn rear window looking sticker on the sticker sheet!!
They try hard with other details. I guess the new guy in the design dept over looked that necessity!!

I just received my fms power wagon and my k5 blazer and both have the crappie transmitter. I like the summer blaze mod better but that's a sharp truck.
I like the v2 controller, it still works great & nothing wrong with it in all honesty. Everyone acts like they are so awful, like it can't even control the vehicle properly.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Might be cool if one could mount the spare on the front. Cool look plus moves that weight forward. Side window mesh too.
Lol this is like the 5 or 6 times I’ve watched this video, now😂 it’s awesome how the k5 does its thing. I’ve been watching a lot of k5 videos too, is the bight trail version the pickup that was in the TV series “the fall guy” ?
Try a couple of wraps of lead tape in the front wheels , it works , well it doe's for me guys .
@@keithbutler6361 yeah I used to do that in my 1/10s with the sticky back truck wheel weights. But try to avoid all the rotational weight I can now. Usually just add some brass here and there on the axle now though.
@@2fmrc You can over do it but I do find 1 or 2 wraps helps , I'm always building and if I bought all the brass I would have nothing in the bank , its cheap and it works , but just not to much and you can just take it back out , all the best mate , we haven't spoke in a long time I was the guy that had the problems with the Fury truck smoking it's self to death , stay safe mate from the UK ..
I like to use it to see how a truck handles with a little weight there , before I do buy the brass parts , its an experiment and that's what I enjoy mate .
The mod line in my opinion should only be used for 1 or 2 things. Shelf queens or mild trail trucks. Major performance is never a thought on this product line from FairRc. Just my 2 cents in a 10 cent market.
Yeah and I feel like most people considering this truck aren’t looking for major performance so I just wanted to break down the good and the bad of it. It’s a great value for someone wanting a more scale truck. Not what I’d go with for all out performance but a good value in general imo
@@2fmrc I love both aspects. Super scale and then performance. But even with a stock fms to get performance you just have to expect to dump money into it. They are $100 to $300 adult toys. Not a $750 factory crawler used for comps. But again... I love both. And I love FMS products.
In my personal experience with FMS customer support is an insult and a fail after your initial purchase. I'm about to set my smasher,atlas 1/10 ,magnum ( which I need wheel hex pins) which was one of the parts I need,and the 1/18 fj cruiser-on fire. FMS support told me no sku # (even though I gave them the part sku# C2075. They also told me that the parts I need are too small to ship to me. What BS. Most of their rccars/trucks are compromised of "small" parts,so I have never been told this before in all of the 32 years that I have been in all aspects of rc. FMS- thanks for nothing!!
Matt, good afternoon, sir .
I have a couple of questions that you may be able to help me with on the promoto mx .
1st: What does the little orange button above the start button do ?
2nd: Why would my flywheel turn on but not spool up ? It was working fine before I tore the bike down to add some upgrades. Like the carbon fiber frame plates .
I have checked all the wires for any damage. I was careful not to pinch any during the rebuild . All of the plugs to the receiver are correctly in the right orientation. And snug .
Everything works . It steers it brakes, and the motor turns the rear tire .
When I go through the start-up sequence, it all seems normal . Then I turn on the switch for the flywheel, and I hear it come on . But it doesn't spool up .
Any ideas, buddy ?

Unfortunately kind of looks like a 1/18 body on a 1/24 chassis. Wonder if the smasher body would look ok on it if painted up nice.
How did you change the spring on the shock?

Great vid matt, i didn't get to see the original video but i agree with what your saying about performance and value for this rig. For $200 you get my parts, the Batrazzi parts, and the fair rc paint. If you want a scale truck, this is the way to go and you can take this build any direction you want. If you want a pure performance, go for the furitek. Overall i think this truck is definitely a looker. And an amazing value For a trail truck. If you wanna show off the interior and dont mind a bit of cutting you can cut the back of the cab out like a real k5 and leave all the glass but the rear window to let some light in and show off the interior from the back 😎
I watched both the first video and this one, my thought is if you want scale looks, this is the way to go licensed body and and all the details. If you want performance, go with the fury wagon both same price but depends what you want it for.
I appreciate you and sorry I wasted so much of your time. I agree. I would totally suggest anyone wanting performance go with the Furitek. But I also felt like I didn’t give any positives to this truck for those considering it and I should have because it is still a K5 fcx24 underneath with some solid upgrades for just a bit more money than normal. So I changed it. Thank you for the comment and watching again lol

No I just wasn’t fair about it at all. It sucked on performance and I stick to that but I didn’t break the truck down at all. I always watch back my own videos to check for any issues. I didn’t break down the price at all or even consider it. So I tried to do better. Knew someone would say I was bought out but that’s every video at this point so I just do what I can

@@DesignedRhyme yeah that’s exactly it. Move on if that’s how you feel. I didn’t change anything because anyone told me to. I just was way too hard on it. It has a lot going for it. It’s an fcx underneath which I absolutely love. So for $40-50 more you’re getting some good upgrades. Yes the performance sucks and I still said it wouldn’t climb anything. But I also tried to not totally focus on the negative and give some positive as well. I can’t win either way because no one believes me either way. I don’t really care what anyone thinks at this point (definitely not the companies) and honestly feel like I should just quit all together. These type comments make my hard work I put in feel like I’m a complete idiot because why work so hard when people will just call you a liar and run their mouth to you? if I didn’t love the hobby so much I’d already be done because putting up with BS comments like this isn’t worth any of it.
@2fmrc I enjoy your videos normally, so I think you'd be silly to quit. You have to remember you get a lot of views & people want to trust what their fav creators say.

@@DesignedRhyme man I just don’t know. I don’t mean to be rude about it. If you wanna know the truth I’ve had a lot going on lately. I have a very sick grandmother who’s dying from cancer plus the rest of the world just going crazy and I have been a bit negative in life in general lately. I let the negatives of this truck take over and really that’s all I focused on in the first video. I felt like I should’ve done better and so I changed it. It’s really hard to balance a review because it’s not always something you’d pick personally but you also need to find the positive & negative in it for others who really want it and are considering it. If I’m positive all the time I’m like everyone else. If I’m negative all the time I’m a hater and just a grumpy ol gus lol. Very hard to hit in the middle where I wanna be. I feel like people wanting major performance aren’t even going to consider this truck but they also could if they looked past the scale stuff and just removed it. Kinda how I should’ve looked at it originally. When I started installing the upgrades I kind of realized that It’s still a K5 Fcx24 underneath which I loved from day one. With $30 shocks,steering links,high clearance links & nice wheels if nothing else for $40-50 more. So it is a good truck. I just was totally blinded by the fact that the scale accessories killed the performance lol

Yeah it seems they are both off the mark just slightly lol. Good news is this interior will fit the Traxxas almost Perfectly! I’m definitely gonna mount it up lol

@@William-McCueRC yeah man I’ll send you a pic. You could make a very slight mod to it and it would fit both trucks straight up lol. I notched it out a bit today to fit the Trx4m. Didn’t take much at all!
Nice look, but I think my stock black one crawls way better.
I'm not a fan of this colour choice. And the rear equipement weights as an anvil. The rig seems now undrivable.😢
Though i love FMS products (i own several of them and no regret), i can't understand this one.
I keep my money, waiting for the FMS answer to the new Furitek FX118. Christmas is not so far away, now. A new FMS should appear soon...😇
The rear spare tire can definitely be a ball and chain sometimes 😂 I designed the swing spare tire to use on my FCX24 suburban build which has about 40mm of stretch and is made of 2 trucks cut in half 😂 I also used the stock chrome wheels which don't have any offset and aren't heavy at all. With the right setup the spare tire can be a non issue, but if your after the overlander look it's definitely a good choice.

I didn’t do well breaking down the price on the truck. I was pretty agravated with the performance and really just focused on that. I didn’t even give a list of the parts included for the prices or explain that even with the performance lacking it’s still a good value because the upgrades are well worth the $40-50 up charge. Plus it’s a mod body from fairrc and that’s usually more as well. I always watch back my videos for errors etc and just felt like I really didn’t give it a good positive/negative review. I just totally focused on the negative when it actually has a lot going for it. Just needs a little work with weight distribution.
Thanks man I appreciate your honesty as always. I do my builds much different than you by my preference but I always appreciate peoples real criticism. I see the value here for a lot of folks who aren’t so serious about these mini crawlers like us.
