I remember watching, from the railway bridge, the men working on the new bridge. I used to worry when they actually went into the water. I was too young to fully appreciate the safety precautions they were taking; I just saw that they were going into water when it was waaay to cold to get so much as your hands wet out there let along diving in. They made me respect what went into bridge building. I have always loved bridges and this one was promising to be a beautiful one. Cold winters for sure, but fun and happy times. =D
I can remember in 1958 the bridge was closed due to high water possibly damaging Piers. We used the PGE Trestle supervised by Candian Army Engineers for 4 months.
@@NormanSilv looked interesting i worked cnrail from 2009 to 2023 and worked that area, interesting to see bridge used to be open cribbing back when it was built then filled in over the years with gravel to build embankments
A Blast from the past! We would like to wish a warm welcome to all construction workers from your friends at the Rendez-Vous RV Park & Storage. #FlatIronConstruction #Aecom #TownOfPeaceRiver
I BOUGHT. 1928 A FORD CONVERTIBLE FROM BOB JOHNSON HE WAS THE FORD MECHANIC AT MAX ZABLES GRAGE You can see me cutting the ribbon for the Bridge Gordon Taler was the Minister of hi ways at that time .I have a picture of Dad was on the ferry with his saddle horse .Brownly had just bought the first car to come to Peace River He was drunk when he drove it on the Ferry He would go back and forward Dad was yelling at him to shut it off as he was scaring dads horse When he stepped on the gas instead of the breaks he went into the river .They found him 9 miles north a week later Engineers were stabilizing the rail road bridge peers by putting blocks of cement around them They saw the car was stuck on one of the peers where it is today

Phrasing!
My mom said she was so confused as a kid about how the cars were going to go over the arches. 😂

Hello fellow peace riverin
are there any pictures of the car?
So cool!! I live in a blue house :)
Peace River hasn't changed much
New bridge completed now or close to it? With the new bridge will the old bridge be scrapped?
Remember this clearly. Now they are twinning it.
Who lives in Peace River?
