    Pro Tip: When removing older switches, leave the solder on the middle pad. When you go to solder in the new switch heat up the pad and the switch will slide right in. You can then solder the other two points in easily without having to worry about the switch being flush with the PCB or moving around. :)

    This is awesome! I wish this sort of electronics was more common knowledge because there is far too much e-waste. At minimum every neighborhood should have a person that can make a good living repairing stuff like this! I'd love to return to a day when things were made to last and/or be repaired rather than tossed into the waste stream.

    • @aBunnyThatWillChewOnYourCables
      @aBunnyThatWillChewOnYourCables 2 года назад +2

      So true. Many people are ignorant about waste and the environment and just toss things away that could easily be repaired. A couple days later I saw this video and since I already have a soldering kit, I bought the silent switches off aliexpress and made the swap today, and now my G305 is better than ever! I was able to return the superlight and I am loving my silent G305. Thanks a lot for making this video!

  • @SaltedSlug85

    Just did this mod. Thanks wildcat.
    Everyone is talking about how quiet they are, but they also rebound fast. The standard omrons on the g305 kind of bind up on me if I try to quickly click with minimal travel. The omrons won't lift back up without me taking alot of pressure of my finger. The kailh silent however.... rebound nice and quick with no effort. So I'm back to clicking quick again. The only other clicks that were even close to this good for me were the g303's (in reference to speed).

    Great gob! What's the issue with 2 or 3 pins on Kailh Silent and Omron? Is that ok that you installed 2pin on 3pin slots?

    Just did this mod and replaced the Omron switches with Kailh 8.0 switches. Funny enough, the other switches in the mouse for the other buttons, are Kailh Red switches.

    i had to fix my mouse recently aswell. there's actually a way to fix the without desoldering the switch. you can open the switch just like a mechanical keyboard one and you can just bend the metal leaf back into shape that has be slowly mis-shapen over time. you dont even need to desolder the switch to open in if you're careful. the parts are quite small so anyone who wants to try this be very careful

      Yeah I saw that mod before doing this and plus, a contact cleaner can also fix this. (but not good for long term)

    • @Utrilus
      @Utrilus 10 месяцев назад

      I was able to fix it by washing the copper spring inside the switch with alcohol, no bending needed. I kinda suspect it's dust or corrosion or something. I do wonder how much more life it'll put into the device.

    Love the G305 mod! Might try this eventually as the mouse is cheap enough so if I screw up I won't be sad lul. Great job Wildcat!

    This is so good. I recently just got my mouse switches changed out too.
    Question: Does it matter which 2 out of the 3 holes the silent switches occupy?

      Yes. Marked on the PCB.

      소리가 확 줄어서 느낌만 정확히 고려하기는 힘들겠지만 구분감도 쓸만한게 괜찮고 제 취향에는 잘 맞네요 ㅎㅎ
      안그래도 305를 703보다 자주 썼는데 이제는 더 많이 쓸 것 같습니다

    I bought a gpro wireless and within the first month i bought kailh switches. The replacement wasnt too bad and boy am i glad i replaced them. There was nothing wrong with my stock switches. (no double clicking) but i had heard about them and was l,ooking for a better switch. And what better switch than to pair with my kailh NK creams?
