I remember first hearing of him from the cartoon show Avatar: The Last Airbender and how he was the main deity worshipped in the Fire Nation. It's nice to learn more about him and where he came from.

"god" and Agnidev is a ancient sanskrit word for Fire God or fire diety.
I heard the Name Agni for the first time either in the Word "Agni-kai" but in the Manga Black Butler the Name of the indian Butler was Agni either, what surprised me very much until i read more about the deity
The fire nation doesnt worship agni. Avatar takes place on a fictional fantasy universe where they believe in spirits rather than actually asian gods. Their culture is similar to other asian cultures but that doesnt mean they actually worship those guys. However the term agni kai is actually a mixture of two words from two different languages with agni meaning fire from sanskrit and kai meaning battle or duel in japanese. so together those words mean fire duel.

I'm not going to lie, but the first time I heard of Agni was back in Devil May Cry 3. Where he was a sword along with Ruda, which in turn made me want to learn more about them. This was before the internet which means I had to venture to the LIBRARY!!!! All jokes aside great video as always.

Actually it's AGNI not Angi, Agni means Fire & Dev means God or diety in ancient Sanskrit.
It's Agni and Rudra, Rudra being another name for Shiva

The concept of Agni being in the trees and coming out when wood is burned is very interesting.
I happen to belong to an ethnic group or tribe named "Agni/ Anyi". Does this means that he is our God because we all know that India and Africa have some kind of connection from many many years.

Katikya is the son of Lord shiva. Shiva gave his seed to agni who was send as a Sage by the Indra and the gods to shiva. Unable to bear the seed, he threw it in to the river ganga. Hence, kartukya is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Ganga.

It was great however you got the story from Ramayan a bit wrong ,it goes like this , so Ram being a God knew that something will happen to Sita so prayed to Agni that get her to safe and when she comes back He knew Agni has the been protecting her so he gives her to Agni and it doesn't burn her but gives back the original Sita , the affair part is like this so when everyone blames her so Ram has to exile her in Forest but he doesn't meet her before that so she's not able to tell him she's pregnant and that's how than Luv and Kush were born , i can explain it better but it'll take to much writing

@@universeofopulence well it has 2 versions one is a south Indian one and another a north Indian one in south India Ravana is actually told to be the biological father of Sita, in north India, he is considered as a demon while he is a half-demon and half-human who ruled over Sri Lanka. Sita was given to king Janaka her adoptive father since Ravana had a curse that one day he would be killed because of her daughter since he loved his daughter so much he didn't want to kill her but give her a better life instead. the truth was only disclosed until Ravana was in his death bed and he said Rama to take care of his daughter well you can ask why he kidnapped his daughter because Sita didn't know for a long time Ravana was her father because it was never revealed by King Janaka while Ravana told to his daughter what had happened she became furious on Ravana and asked why did wanted his daughter now especially while she was in Exile with her Husband while Ravana even got furious when he heard that Sita was punished with Ram for his Exile so he had no choice but to bring his Daughter to his Kingdom by force there was a reason why even Sita was not burned in the First Place because she was not even portrayed as the prisoner or even the one hanuman visited it was actually her Twin in which North Indian version of the story didn't reveal "Satya-Vatti" who was held as a prisoner and while Sita had a good life in the Kingdom as after the fire test. Sita told the truth to Ram that it was her Twin who was held prisoner and not her that is the reason She didn't get Burned and even insisted Ram marry her Twin Sister, But as Ram said as his incarnation was meant to be a perfect king and gentleman he would not marry her twin but her twin will get a chance In Ka-le Yuga as the second wife status that also did happen when Vishnu had a minor incarnation not spoken wide. that is why you need to read both the versions of north and south India to learn the history of Hinduism totally. and Ravana to have 10 heads was a myth according to south India since it was said that he could use multiple weapons and multi-task in quick succession as he moved so quickly it was said that he had 10 heads that means he can do 10 men work at the same time. why was only one part of the Ramayana was famous because India was only represented by North India most of the time worldwide since now the South Indian influence is slowly growing you may see the variations from now on I guess.

Agni(most important Vedic deity) is the same god called called yhvh/Yahweh by jews/christians and also called Yahvah(samskrit) by hindus whereas muslim worship shiva(half crescent symbol), their main shrine kaabi(in mecca). In India there is Kapaleeshwarar Temple(also of shiva). As per our puranas(scriptures) , the Mecca oasis was called 'Makeshwar' a place were Vedic fire sacrifice rituals were performed.

its odd to see how beings that hold so much power over reality can be so affected by the magic of sages, who are basically the spiritual version of wizards. Hindu Gods are quite weird to me, as they can end our world with a single blow (like Shiva) but menial human trials and tribulations prove just as difficult to them as they are to us.

you and i go in a dark room.
you touch something that feels like a tree trunk
i touch something that feels like a rope.
now we both fight saying what i know is true - a trunk and rope.
but then the light are turned on we see an elephant. you are touching the trunk and i am touching the tail.
For the world the light hasn't been turned on. So we think what we perceive (or understand what god is) is the correct one.
we both have a different world view. Hope that makes sense.
Abhramic religions are history centric. Because historicity of jesus or mohamad is the fulcrum of islam and christianity. if that falls the religion falls

Actually it is more about the sense of duty and responsibility. Sages are sacred and pure. They are given high regards by the gods. So, even though the gods are almighty and powerful yet if given curse or boons that clash with their own interests still they accept it to pay respect to the rules they have created.
How will people follow the path of light and good if the very gods they worship begin to misuse their powers? Right?

The human nature of those deities are obvious... remember those deities were once humans...later they became sages and gained the highest level of consciousness....so they became Agni(deity of Fire),Indra(Deity Clouud,rain,sky and thunder),Vayu(deity of water),Varun(deity of Water) and many more.Note it,Indra,Agni,Varun are not a name,they are the positions in heaven.....

I know the British accent places emphasis in different spots than US English, but since "poverty" is a word, at first I thought he was saying the god's name was literally poverty, but that doesn't sound Hindi phonetics, so it must be spelled Par-var-ti, with the emphasis on the second syllable or Pa-var-ti.
