I was hoping that they would have continued with the rejected ideas project
Everyone is free to submit their rejected Ideas submissions :)
I suspect, and hope, that a lot of designers will submit their 'rejected' Lego IDEAS submissions via this program, but, going forward, it might make sense for some designers to go directly down this route and avoid Lego IDEAS altogether (in view of how limited the latter's selection criteria can be - i.e. they rarely choose modulars). It's only really IP sets that need to go down the Lego IDEAS route.
I'm glad that they are providing a palette of approved bricks and colors, so that there is much less reworking and redesigning necessary on the backend.
5% to the designer, that's great. Could be a lot of money. 20,000 copies of a $400 set adds up pretty nice.
Could cause all the submissions to be large expensive models though if people are trying to maximise their potential profits from winning.
I love how quick the turn-around process is here (i.e. between 18-21 months). I hope we see many rejected Lego Ideas submissions (part. the ones that fell at the Review Stage) go through this program. I have a few faves in mind (particularly some modular buildings, which don't tend to get chosen via the Lego IDEAS program).
Hopefully the prices will be more reasonable this time around. I’d prefer not to spend $1500 to get all the sets each year.
This is great that they are allowing all sets that get 3,000 pre orders produced. It was a huge disappointment when a set you wanted in the 2021 Invitation didn’t get selected like the Season in Time Calendar. I also really hope they include paper instructions manuals, being forced to use the app was a pain and AFOLs out of everyone would want physical instructions.
There will be no paper instructions, you either use the app or will be able to download in pdf
i just saw it half hour ago and now have started designing my model
I love this idea, I have experience in studio and mocbuilding so I will most certainly be participating! Shame the timeline is a bit long, but compared to actual set production I suppose it's not too bad.
Edit: and that royalty to the designer! Great!
Ooo nice, definitely an interesting concept! Seems a bit better tuned than before too! 😆
Hope to see some fantastic builds, especially hopeful that a unique vehicle of some kind is in one of the batches of 5 sets sometime down the line! Also hope to see a few original Sci-fi style submissions too! (Kinda alien-planet-ish!)
If a betting shop was giving odds on what BrickLink would end up with for 1 of the first 5 sets, I'd put money on something Castle/Pirates for sure! 😂👍
the 1 important thing missing in the latest Bricklink designer program, was paper building instructions!!! (i hope they will use them this time)
I doubt they will go back to paper instructions. I know Lego is trying to wean itself off paper and waste for the most part (although I hope that the bigger official sets, particularly the IDEAS, Icons and modular sets continue to include instruction manuals, because there's usually an added value to them, including background information on the sets/desisgners, in addition to the instructions).
The design is digital, instructions that are created in Studio are also digital, and sets are clearly target to adults who should be able to use them.
@@RacingBrickDesigned for adults who want physical instructions…
@@andykillsu some adults might want physical instructions, but they definitely have more access to computers and smart devices so they'll be totally able to use the digital version.
@@RacingBrick well, having access to a computer is 1 thing. the place where I have the space to build I do not have access to it. Besides that, I do not like to work with a computer when I build Lego. and i think a lot of us have this feeling. building lego and using paper instructions beside it feels more relaxing, i watch a monitor/tv screen more than enough.
Really nice, but Studio 2.0 can be quiet limiting factor here. I designed Saturn wall mount using art wall mount elements, some beams and lift arms and I wanted to create instructions for my complete experience while building it. I went through multiple iterations and in some of them, instructions were "impossible". Things like assemble - pivot - lock with axle are just impossible to properly instruct.
I think this is great! There's a lot of great creators and I suspect some great sets gonna come out of this.
I have the Vintage Fire Engine from the first round I really enjoy it
Nice maybe i try with my trains
Good luck.
May 2023 is here. Remem to check BL for the winning designs
Technic animals would be interesting
Fantastic, cannot wait!
👍👍👍👍
Where do you buy these from? Is there a store online to make orders for the sets?
The link on the brick link home page tries to redirect you to “brickink” because someone made a typo in the aref element.
Lol... Seems to work now
Those Lego Jordan 1s look so nice,it would be a nice addition to the Adidas Lego shoes
Awesome glad it’s back, I wonder if they will increase it beyond 10,000 now it’s a more permanent thing
Did you watch the video? Production runs will be twice what they were before--20,000 sets per design.
How do you pre-order the sets??
I probably should participate :D
office tour?
Do you also have problems to store all the LEGO that you buy? Can you do a video on how to manage space when you have half million parts?
Will the winners get the sets they made?
Third one hereeeed
first one hereeeee!
fifth hereee
Nice second chance for those designs rejected by certain alternative brands.
