    A super easy USB Macro pad using the Arduino pro micro (or compatible) board. This uses 16 Cherry MX style switches with keycaps that have spaces for printed labels in them. The sky is the limit!

      I love my mech keyboard! I was lucky and got an off-brand (victsing) with linear reds AND a volume encoder for like 55$ and because it has proper switches (outemu reds) I can replace them when they get wonky

    That's awesome. Can't wait to see the back-light version. :)
    Just a thought, could'nt you mount the Arduino on the rear of the PCB so that the front panel is flat ?
    (have the pins on the Arduino mounted on the chip side instead of the bottom, that way it would still line up pin for pin without having to remake the PCB.)

    Very nice!
    I've been thinking about making something similar. Would be so useful for my job (programmer).
    Will probably use a Raspberry PI Pico as they are cheaper than a Pro-Micro from China and support USB host.

    I don’t have a 3D printer, can the cad files on the pcb page be used to print f3d stuff from pcb way as well.
    The analog ports broken out is a great little add on for some joysticks.
    Great project.
    I did a 2x4 macropad with an esp32 (Bluetooth) for a game as well and used a laser cut acrylic to stick the keys in and a blob of bluetac to hold the esp32 in place. Works fine.

    What would it take to set it up for controlling lights and sound effects like some content creators do with the commercial version that's similar to this?

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker 2 года назад +2

      That's a perfect use for node-red. It wouldn't take much. The biggest thing is that the board itself doesn't support any networking, so you'd have to add bluetooth/wifi.

      I'm thinking auto hot keys. So the macro board would send a keystroke and auto hot keys will interpret and execute the functionality you desire.
      Tom Scott did a video of "emoji keyboard", and taran from LTT did a video about setting up multiple keyboards for video editing.

    Here's a demo of a Autohotkey script.
    Example if you want to program f1 to do control+alt+delete
    Here's the script.
    f1::
    sendinput {control down} {alt down} {delete down}
    sendinput {control up} {alt up} {delete up}
    return
    That's how easy it is to Write simple macro scripts with Autohotkey.

    those blue pcb holders seem cool but when I finally got one I hated it and gave it away haha a small panavise is almost the same price and upgradablr

    • @SimpleElectronics
      @SimpleElectronics  Год назад +1

      I checked the prices and the panavise seems like it is around 80$ - I paid I THINK 15$ for my holder

    • @jstro-hobbytech
      @jstro-hobbytech Год назад +1

      @@SimpleElectronics some people sell that holder for like 100 beans. I paid like 30 I think. I priced a panavise and to build a modular one the part is 70 I think. The full panavise 350 goes on sale for like 30 percent off alot. My video game setup is leaving my workshop this weekend so I'm setting up a chill multimonitor coding spot and a proper large work bench. I've had an LG c9 120hz for 3 years and have barely used it haha. I gave away my Sim rig too ehh. I didn't realize the wheel and pedals were on sale when I bought them. It's 900 now haha fuck me. I'm glad it has a good home now. Dude is gonna use mine and set up his in the same room to play with his autistic daughter who really wanted her own.
