A Crochet Capybara (part one)

A few months ago I decided to relearn how to crochet, having not done any since I was a teenager - partly because friends kept sending me interesting patterns that they thought I'd like to crochet! My relearning project is a capybara - the pattern describes it as "amigurumi" but it feels like it's coming out rather big to fall into that class!

They're a very large rodent from South America - they look a bit like a rabbit without any ears, but they're the size of a small pig
