I am looking forward to the debate and this will be perfect. Of course all of this is opinion based but one thing for sure is that Cubase is here to stay and is an important part in the production community! It doesnt get the love it should so I wanted to just show a small taste of what you could do with it and how your workflow could be super better if you had Cubase. I came from fl studio and standard producer daw also i have try ableton and logic before but nothing beat cubase in production i love to produce in cubase better than any daw cubase is one of the oldest daw in the market and do to that people trend to assume is and old daw lost in time like pro tools without trying it that's make cubase today been an underground daw in the world of production and people who did not use it but try it most of the time only try a lost version from the past like cubase 5. Cubase deserve better in the world of production i tell you for producing i think its better than anything. So people should stop thinking cubase is only good for recording and mixing because in my opinion cubase do everything perfectly and in the world of production is really in the top over anything
And that's the thing for me, it should e considered an underground DAW. It's so not fair to the programers and development team to make it is what it is. But that is also due to the lack of promotion or the lack there of. But I agree with you on this fully! Some of the programmers from Cubase was the ones that created Studio One.

Right here sir! Proud user since 2016! Started in FL Studio 5 in 2005 and switch to Cubase in 2016 due to recording more live instruments.

The Maschine Drag & Drop thing works with most Daw's, i like it.
For sure. Maschine is dope. Once you get used to the workflow of it, it's seems like nothing but everyone has a preference. I was just saying of all the ones I have used this has made it through easiest as far as workflow. I got you through family. Trust.
Cubase user since 1990 on the Atari ST. People think Cubase is just for the film and TV market now, but for beat production all I’ll say is: the Sampler Track! Great for slicing samples, vintage emulation modes and now Spectral HD time-stretching for transient preservation. What more could you want!?

There is so much more in Cubase that makes it a DAW dedicated for producers but the simple things make this the best for me. former Logic and S1 user here.
Now back on Cubase 13 and very happy, I must say.... Cubase has now all the features that has made S1 great (way more dragdrop!, bezier curves, event fx, lower zone, simple browser+ plugin pics etc.) But: Cubase has much more to offer... Cant live without SamplerTrack and the BEST mix console, sample content is modern and very inspiring...Cubase stock plugins are on par with Logic.. C13 = highly recommend for HipHop. ❤
That's what's I have been saying. Cubase is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for hip hop and r&b production because of the ease of use and all the features that it has. You barely scratched the surface. Chord Pads is the ultimate cheat code!
I didn't want to hit them with everything all at once, lol This just a taste into using it for Hip Hop. Plus I use Ripchord for the Chords. I really don't like the chords it provides as it doesnt play "lush" chords. It's more foundational but nevertheless still a dope feature. @@PULSEMusicGroupyeah Rip chord is super simple and easier to use than Chord Pads. The only thing Ripchord has over the Chord Pads is that neat strum feature. But I can achieve strumming by using the slice tool in the key editor. Not to mention the Chord Track + Chord pad Combo. Thats next level.

I'm a Reason user and while its still missing some features I want, I'm not interested in switching DAWs however I do like Ableton and FL Studio and might use those with Reason. Ejay, those where the days lol.

I used to love Reason but I didn't like that Rack look after a while and just wanted the feel as if I was using the "older" Logic that was on Windows and this was the closest thing. Nice. I have used Cubase for quite a few years, and I am still picking up little tricks. I mostly use NI instruments, but I have other stuff, too. I got a huge bundle of stuff from IK Multimedia, and I love their processors, but not their instruments. I have a KK A49 keyboard and Maschine Mikro MK3 and they work flawlessly with Cubase. I even was able to set up my Mikro to control some Cubase transport functions, which is pretty cool. Love it! And I think the way you use Maschine with Cubase makes a lot of sense. When you have people like Hans Zimmer using Cubase, what else needs to be said?
Exactly. I think not of people from what I have been seeing in the comments through have been saying that Cubase is primarily for Film Sound designers. And I was thinking if that be the case, that should say a lot when it comes to Cubase. I always appreciate and love you drop knowledge like this on the channel. We have the same or close to the same set up when it comes to our Cubase set up. This is why we get along so well, lol I almost want to pin this one brother because alot of people think I be lying when I talk about this setup.
I would LOVE to be able to use Maschine like it's in Standalone but as a VST in my DAW Reaper. I just want both to be synced so pressing RECORD only records to Maschine's VST and pressing play plays BOTH Maschine and REAPER. :/

I think a lot of what happened was that the community came out and just "promoted" FL Studio, Studio One, and even Reason for that matter. @@PULSEMusicGroup I tried it during 10.0 but I didn’t like that price model for updates. Maybe it changed since then but the other thing was it felt clunky to me instead of a flow that works how I needed it to. But again things may have changed

Did you do the updates? I had no issues at all since Cubase 7. Weighthave to run a session together so I could see your workflow and help out if I could. Let me know fam. Recently purchased Cubase use to use it back in the day but since switching to Ableton Live I have forgotten how to use Cubase was on Cubase 5 back then!
Now coming back to it I am a beginner so navigating the DAW is new to me but I do like the sounds & certain features are very good but I guess Ableton makes you lazy because the plugin can be added to tracks so easily & assigning things like sends is so simple in Ableton Live other DAWs are more complicated!
But Cubase seems to be very deep & will need to take time to learn it enough to fully switch from Ableton Live but I am determined to learn Cubase!

Hey family. Trust and believe me.......Cubase is more user friendly now and is a real easy DAW to use. As far as production and even recording is great in it with a fun sounds to start. I do know there is do much more to this and I am still learning tricks and tips myself my I have also been using it since Cubase 5 and haven't looked back. I prefer Bitwig for beat making, but I prefer cubase Pro for Tracking and Mixing. So, I'd rather use a Maschine Controller with Bitwig for that phase of production and then bring the stems into Cubase when I want to Arrange, Track and Mix everything. Maschine controllers work flawlessly with Bitwig, so it's almost like using them with Maschine 2. It's actually... fun.
I've also changed my workflow up a bit and tend to prefer working with audio directly in the arranger, instead of stacks of Sampler Instrument Tracks for each drum, etc. That's easier with Bitwig since you can do ratchets with Audio Files and even change the pattern of the repeats, etc. Cubase doesn't let you do that, so it takes more manual work.
Bitwig feels a bit like their own take on Ableton Live with Elements of ACID Pro added in.
In any case, Cubase is the best Generalist DAW on the market right now (maybe rivaled only by Digital Performer, which is super underrated for production). I think holding onto the dongle for so long along with its high price tag (Pro SKU - and Artist was heavily limited until a few years ago) sort of suppressed its penetration in the beat making market - which tends to be very price-sensitive.
I do find I am veering more towards preferring a less "everything and the kitchen sink" approach to DAW software, though. Solutions that are a bit more targeted to the relevant market segment I am operating within for a certain track.

I have used it every so often. It is really dope as far as sounds is concerned. Cubase also has a dope loop library too thay alot of people don't know about. But I am a Native Instruments user so alot of my music is made with those products. But you can't have enough sounds as a producer right, lol???? 💯💯💯

Can´t confirm. Cubase has now all the features that has made S1 great like way more dragdrop!, bezier curves, event fx, lower zone, simple browser+ plugin pics etc. But: Cubase has much more to offer. Cubase is same intuitive as S1 now. HINT: "S1 Drag and Drop" paradigm is way too heavily enforced. Studio One attempts to use it for nearly every operation, and I feel that this is a huge mistake. The drag and drop paradigm violates a few basic principles that are inherent to using a mouse to control an onscreen cursor. It takes time to move a mouse cursor across a big screen and then you often have to stop at a small area to drop. Drag Drop is absolutely overrated and it doesnt correspond to a fast pro workflow. My main issues come from my complaints above and the instability with S1 that I’ve experienced in all the last years. Cubase is very stable in comparison.

It's without a doubt Reaper. I use Acustica audio plugins which can be very CPU intensive when oversampling.
Reaper is the most efficient I've seen. And to be honest nothing comes close.

If you are starting out and you are on windows, no DAW beats Cubase in terms of sound quality. It's simply the best in terms of everything as far as windows OS is concerned. So don't waste your time other DAWs

How about it was on Windows first and I used it FAITHFULLY when it was Logic 5.5! To me still was the best of its time! But now it's all Cubase! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💯

Cubase has always been giving Logic Pro a run for its money. lol
But I do remember this Studio I knew in Bed Stuy where this dude named Elliot used to swear by it.
But all the other Studios I knew in Brooklyn used Cubase VST for multitrack recording in place of Logic, and native ProTools which was trash back in the 90s. lol
That is if they even had a setup like that. A lot of other spots were still using ADATs. Ok let me chill cuz I'm showing my age. lol
