I had a similar thing happen with Gahyeon, going into the concert I was 100% in “my biases are JiU and Yoohyeon” but coming out I was so weak for Gahyeon too
My bias is still firmly Siyeon, but they all wreck me on a minute-to-minute basis. But you're right, they're all absolute sweethearts... and be warned; however beautiful you think they are, it doesn't prepare you for being up close...
I don't know what it is with me and Dreamcatcher. Everytime I listen to them I get so much emotions that it feels like I'm just going to burst into tears at any second. They are so god damn powerful.
They are my favourite kpop girl group, and I think they are so powerful and they deserve more. They are so talented. I saw them the last year in Argentina, I was blessed. I love them so much, they are really good artist and really good people too. I wish they have more atention.

piri was the last of the nightmare series so deja vu is the start of a new series apparently more fantasy based. the nightmare series revolves around yoohyeon getting cursed by a spider spirit and the members especially jiu(leader minji \o/) trying to save her but getting trapped in the process. you can see jiu trying to catch up to yoohyeon in what. while deja vu is a new series, the plot references the old story line. in the end jiu 'saves' yoohyeon by sacrificing herself. I made a short video on deva vu's symbolism and linkage to the nightmare series for those interested.
Deja Vu, as far as I can tell, is actually a one off. It was a collaboration with the makers of the King's Raid video game. It's not related to any of their story lines. Deja Vu, in a nutshell, tells the story of a group of friends (possibly sisters?) who get embroiled in a struggle to win / take the throne. Several of them die in the process (coffin scenes) and one of them either leaves or is banished (the scene with the gate). In the end, the 'victor' sits on the throne surrounded by the destruction caused by the conflict between the women while vying for the throne. I guess the moral would be that, yes, she won the throne, but it cost her everything.
I agree that Deja Vu is in another story line, which I hope that they would explore more after Vespa release the next chapter. And for Nightmare series, I think the stories are still linked until The curse of the Spider where how they were during the curse are told. Everyone has their own nightmares in Piri and Breaking Out, to me, is the story of the girls break out to get to each others, the nightmare still lasts forever. If I'm not wrong, Yoohyeon said during Deja Vu promotion that you can never escape from nightmares, or something similar.
@@keithcraig506 The interesting thing in their MVs is that the more you dig into, the more things will you find out and would change how you think about the story line. Deja Vu is the condition in which a person's imaginary is so strong that it makes things become so real, linking with blue roses - symbolizing uncertainty, something unreal - I would say Yoohyeon saw a vision where she would be killed by JiU, so she took action first, but JiU was so strong that she defeated Yoohyeon. However they were still sister-like, JiU spared her life, walked away and being stabbed. Tbh, about the other girls, I'm still confusing on what happened to them, if they were all killed by Yoohyeon, I really want the next MV gets more into it. The moon on the right was from King's Raid which appeared after Kasel and Frey became darkness, the heroes were betrayes by the one they believe in, the goddess.

"How they are not getting more attention, why they are underrated" is the question that me, as the InSomnia(DreamCatcher fan name) couldnt answer along with other InSomnias as well.. So glad you’re getting to see them live. I was at the Los Angeles concert yesterday and it was AMAZING. They performed for 2 1/2 hours and did 20 songs, mostly their own but some side projects like a SuA/Yoohyeon performance of “7 Rings”. Yoohyeon speaks almost perfect English, Dami probably is least comfortable with conversational English and the rest are in between somewhere. My hair is currently “Piri Purple” and JiU immediately noticed and started talking to me about it in English. Sadly Handong is not on this tour. She is doing some sort of work with Mnet and couldn’t be involved with the tour, but she is there in spirit.

Yeah. It can be told from how leg goals they are that they have worked very hard for the dances. They indeed worked very hard in the dance. SuA appeared with many bruises on her legs during their You and I promotion, most visible in IDOL LEAGUE video I think.
Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon and the reason for that is because ㅅ(S in romanization) in front of ㅣ(i in romanization making the "e" sound) is always pronouced like SH, so 시연(Siyeon) is pronounced She-yeon but romanization expects people to understand the "S" before "i" Korean rule I juste explained (which is very stupid since the only purpose of romanization is to help people pronounce things they can't read) and there's many other weird romanization mistakes everywhere in subs and even in official idol names so it makes everything very confusing specially for new fans (like 휘인 Wheein and 화사 Hwasa, thechnically both their names should start with H by romanization rules but they decided to switch it up maybe to make them more unique I don't know lol). Romanization isn't really reliable =/ But don't worry, you're doing great, love your reactions, keep it up. :)
Yes, romanization is ok for an idea of what is being said, but if you are trying to learn the language most say to avoid it as much as possible. There are sounds in Korean (and other languages) that simply do not exist in English that romanization can only approximate.
1) No one follows the actual Romanization standards. Few even know that there *are* Romanization standards. It doesn't help that Idols and Agencies don't use them either (because they aren't linguists). 2) So Everyone has and creates there own standard. Based on convenience, aid in pronunciation, and for some aid in spelling back to the Hangeul 3) But even amongst professional linguists, there is an understanding "within the Standard when you see 'this' it is always pronounced this" I just tell people to spend the 90 minutes it takes to learn the pronunciation rules for Hangeul and forget Romanized Korean even exists.

OMG!!! I can't believe you're really going! I'm so happy for you! Dreamcatcher really put all out each time. Be sure to take a sugar drink before going, their energy is on another level I think you can watch their fanchants (they have them in the official channels) or do a listening party of their albums, but should avoid the other videos until the concert ends. They have so many and so good covers and dance performances that I personally hope you watch them all (they dancing to 'Believer' is a MUST SEE that everyone forgets about). But they usually make some covers in concerts so I think it's better if you let yourself be surprised since you have the oportunity A video that you definitely must watch before is 'Over the sky' or '하늘을 넘어'. It's not an MV but more like a performance video. The song it's an anniversary gift from dreamies to insomnias and they always sing it. It's really special and they even add sign language to the dance so more Insomnias can understand the meaning. They're not only really talented, hardworking and pure crackheads, the whole group is so open-minded and caring to everyone that it's hard to understand how dark concepts suits them so well Also, congratulations! You got every member right! Just see for the correct pronunciation in the comments. Still, I will try later to share some specials clips for the rest of the girls so you can get their voices and faces together. It seems hard at first but each girl have a special voice and style so it's easier than you think Note: Handong isn't this time in the tour since she's on a Chinese show. Seeing your genuine reaction is really awesome ^^ I have been lucky enough to see 3 of their concerts ( first european tour once and 2nd tour twice ) and I can assure you, you will have a great time. Those concerts are usually more intimate than with the bigger groups and the interactions between them and the public make it unforgettable and unique every time... Spoiler : They are gorgeous from up close, be ready. JiU told me I was handsome and I can assure you my heart stopped for a bit.Have fun !

The Book is pretty central to the second part of story. Yoohyeon dropped it at the end of Good Night, it got lost for a very long time and the girls got split at the end of You and I. The forest where the book got dropped eventually got cut down and turned into a City where they were drawn to. Jiu finds the Book again in the city while the girls experience a transformation into modern-day nightmares. In Piri, Jiu uses the book to try to save Yoohyeon's soul from where she was taken by the Spider Queen in You and I. All the girls experience their deepest fears within the nightmare dimension (except Yoohyeon whose fears we saw at the end of What) and Yoohyeon saves them all one by one. They're all now trapped in the dimension, but they are now all together. Deja Vu is a collaboration with the game King's Raid. It's a completely different storyline. This time, Yoohyeon is the antagonist as she betrays the girls one by one (possibly after being overtaken by the Spider Queen?). Jiu is somehow resurrected after being stabbed in the back, and the story is still to be continued.
I saw them in London back in October and it was my first hi-touch too. It went by so quickly and I got so nervous and overwhelmed that I don't actually remember it! It's just... gone from my memory. All I remember is that I tried to say "thank you" in Korean to each member but I felt really conscious about my pronunciation and just sort of nervously mumbled it. So my advice would be to decide what you're going to say beforehand and say it with confidence. Make sure to look them in the eye and take a mental picture. Enjoy the moment because it goes by in a flash. Enjoy the show! They're absolutely amazing live. Try not to get bias-wrecked by SuA. Her stage presence is insane and she'll test you at every opportunity.

piri is like a flute (the whistles in the bg) and piri was the first time we got to see gahyeon rapping and we stannnnnn (the little vibaration in siyeon's and sua's voice is called vibrato and is usually used to make a long note seem even longer when switching to it to end the note but they just use it as a way of styling their singing overall)
Really enjoyed the video, always makes me really happy to see people get invigorated over Dreamcatcher for the first time! and don't worry, all us InSomnias had the same problem choosing our favorite songs by Dreamcatcher, the most common thing I hear in the community is "there is no song by them I would skip". They just do such a good job at producing a variety of different concepts, but still retaining that Dreamcatcher style we all love! You got all the names pretty much spot on! some pronunciations were a tiny bit off but as you hear them more you will catch on quickly. Only ones I'll mention are Dami is pronounced Dah-mee (as opposed to daa-mee) and Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon (as opposed to Si-yeon or Sigh-yeon) Others were so small it's not worth bringing up. :) You pretty much covered all the main title tracks (besides Full Moon + Over The Sky, but they are anniversary specials, not like official albums. The whistle sound you hear is synthesized sound of the Piri. And that's the funny thing about ㄹ, when it starts with this symbol you pronounce it at a RL(you start with R-sound and at the end with L-sound),when it's an ending you pronounce it as a L. And then there are some exceptions, but that's another story.

Deja Vu is a new story. If it's a part of a new storyline, we'll se in the future. But the nightmare storyline is over. They are still rock, since it's their style.

So I'm back at it again sharing the dreamcatcher mini universe summary, I posted the other mvs on jenjens last dreamcatcher video already What It looks like everyone got split up post-You And I searching for Yoohyeon, or at least the part of her soul that's missing. Jiu is the one who finds it at the end of the video after failing to rescue her last time. Dami finds the lost book from the end of Goodnight. Sua, Handong and Dami (IN MASKS) in a scene that was cut from the video are found together by Gahyeon. Siyeon is the only one not interacting with anyone, oddly enough. I suspect the Yoohyeon that's having nightmares is our Yoohyeon whose soul is partly missing, and she feels alone because everyone else is looking for that part and something sinister could have happened to her as well because of the Joker/grafitti scene, which could tie in to Gahyeon finding Handong, Dami and Sua who are all holding spray paint. Piri The white room is representative of the alternate dimension the Spider Curse Yoohyeon’s soul got left in in You and I (which is WHITE AND SNOWY). Jiu finds the book from Good Night in What and uses it to send the entire group in to save Yoohyeon. They are then confronted with their worst fears. Yoohyeon’s body eventually finds its soul (the shot of Yoohyeon looking up represents this), then she reaches out and finds all her friends as they all hold hands at the end. The hands that abduct most of our members throughout the MV is Yoohyeon. Whether the girls escape the dimension is...up to interpretation but the white room suddenly plunging into darkness isn’t a good sign. The important part is that they’re together at last The individual nightmares are: Siyeon - Alone in the dark Handong - time passing you by Gahyeon - the voices in your head Jiu - the guilt that her obsession in finding Yoohyeon is an excuse in redeeming herself for failing to save YH in You and I Sua - EVIL FUCKING DOLLS Dami - hers is a little hard to pinpoint but it feels like the fear of not finding what you need to find Yoohyeon is the only one without an individual nightmare because this dimension IS her nightmare. Finding the Shofar at the beginning was a revelation, but it’s interrupted by our girls’ Piri. She hears it and sets out to find everyone. In the end, Yoohyeon saves everyone who came in to save her. Deja vu is based off of the game Kings raid

It's funny (in a good way) seeing you fall in love with Dreamcatcher at the same time I'm falling for your favourite Mamamoo. I've always been a big fan of them but Hip made me think I can't continue not stanning these girls. Hip and Piri are probably tied for my SOTY. First time I heard Piri my reaction was " OK. We can all stop trying to make music now. Dreamcatcher just won." Deja Vu I think is the perfect example of a amazing song and an amazing video coming together and complimenting each other so well they become something even more incredible. I literally sat in silence for 5 mins after first watching it trying to contemplate what I'd just experienced.
From what I understand, the rock vibe isn’t super popular in Korea, but it IS a much bigger thing in Japan, which is probably why Dreamcatcher is starting to actively put out Japanese music. Deja Vu was actually made as part of a promotion for a Japanese video game, so DC seems to be doing pretty well for themselves regardless. 😎
Dreamcatcher has vidoes of themselves doing most of their fanchants on either the HappyFace Entertainment or Dreamcatcher Official youtube channels. The easiest to learn is their name chant which is used at some point in just about every song. It's their names in descending order of age (JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, Gahyeon) followed by something unique for each song (For Deja Vu its: Yeongwonhi! Sarangeyo!) Then it ends with the Korean pronunciation of their name which has 4 syllables (Due! Lim! Kae! Chyeo!)

They are my favourite kpop girl group, and I think they are so powerful and they deserve more. They are so talented. I saw them the last year in Argentina, I was blessed. I love them so much, they are really good artist and really good people too. I wish they have more atention.

piri was the last of the nightmare series so deja vu is the start of a new series apparently more fantasy based. the nightmare series revolves around yoohyeon getting cursed by a spider spirit and the members especially jiu(leader minji \o/) trying to save her but getting trapped in the process. you can see jiu trying to catch up to yoohyeon in what.
while deja vu is a new series, the plot references the old story line. in the end jiu 'saves' yoohyeon by sacrificing herself. I made a short video on deva vu's symbolism and linkage to the nightmare series for those interested.
Deja Vu, as far as I can tell, is actually a one off. It was a collaboration with the makers of the King's Raid video game. It's not related to any of their story lines.
Deja Vu, in a nutshell, tells the story of a group of friends (possibly sisters?) who get embroiled in a struggle to win / take the throne. Several of them die in the process (coffin scenes) and one of them either leaves or is banished (the scene with the gate). In the end, the 'victor' sits on the throne surrounded by the destruction caused by the conflict between the women while vying for the throne. I guess the moral would be that, yes, she won the throne, but it cost her everything.
I agree that Deja Vu is in another story line, which I hope that they would explore more after Vespa release the next chapter.
And for Nightmare series, I think the stories are still linked until The curse of the Spider where how they were during the curse are told. Everyone has their own nightmares in Piri and Breaking Out, to me, is the story of the girls break out to get to each others, the nightmare still lasts forever. If I'm not wrong, Yoohyeon said during Deja Vu promotion that you can never escape from nightmares, or something similar.
@@keithcraig506 The interesting thing in their MVs is that the more you dig into, the more things will you find out and would change how you think about the story line.
Deja Vu is the condition in which a person's imaginary is so strong that it makes things become so real, linking with blue roses - symbolizing uncertainty, something unreal - I would say Yoohyeon saw a vision where she would be killed by JiU, so she took action first, but JiU was so strong that she defeated Yoohyeon. However they were still sister-like, JiU spared her life, walked away and being stabbed. Tbh, about the other girls, I'm still confusing on what happened to them, if they were all killed by Yoohyeon, I really want the next MV gets more into it.
The moon on the right was from King's Raid which appeared after Kasel and Frey became darkness, the heroes were betrayes by the one they believe in, the goddess.

So glad you’re getting to see them live. I was at the Los Angeles concert yesterday and it was AMAZING. They performed for 2 1/2 hours and did 20 songs, mostly their own but some side projects like a SuA/Yoohyeon performance of “7 Rings”.
Yoohyeon speaks almost perfect English, Dami probably is least comfortable with conversational English and the rest are in between somewhere. My hair is currently “Piri Purple” and JiU immediately noticed and started talking to me about it in English.
Sadly Handong is not on this tour. She is doing some sort of work with Mnet and couldn’t be involved with the tour, but she is there in spirit.

Of all the reactions I've seen, I've never seen someone talk about their muscles xD. So many possibilities to explore in this talented and hardworking girls.
Yeah. It can be told from how leg goals they are that they have worked very hard for the dances. They indeed worked very hard in the dance. SuA appeared with many bruises on her legs during their You and I promotion, most visible in IDOL LEAGUE video I think.
Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon and the reason for that is because ㅅ(S in romanization) in front of ㅣ(i in romanization making the "e" sound) is always pronouced like SH, so 시연(Siyeon) is pronounced She-yeon but romanization expects people to understand the "S" before "i" Korean rule I juste explained (which is very stupid since the only purpose of romanization is to help people pronounce things they can't read) and there's many other weird romanization mistakes everywhere in subs and even in official idol names so it makes everything very confusing specially for new fans (like 휘인 Wheein and 화사 Hwasa, thechnically both their names should start with H by romanization rules but they decided to switch it up maybe to make them more unique I don't know lol).

Yes, romanization is ok for an idea of what is being said, but if you are trying to learn the language most say to avoid it as much as possible. There are sounds in Korean (and other languages) that simply do not exist in English that romanization can only approximate.
1) No one follows the actual Romanization standards. Few even know that there *are* Romanization standards. It doesn't help that Idols and Agencies don't use them either (because they aren't linguists).
2) So Everyone has and creates there own standard. Based on convenience, aid in pronunciation, and for some aid in spelling back to the Hangeul
3) But even amongst professional linguists, there is an understanding "within the Standard when you see 'this' it is always pronounced this"
I just tell people to spend the 90 minutes it takes to learn the pronunciation rules for Hangeul and forget Romanized Korean even exists.

I think you can watch their fanchants (they have them in the official channels) or do a listening party of their albums, but should avoid the other videos until the concert ends. They have so many and so good covers and dance performances that I personally hope you watch them all (they dancing to 'Believer' is a MUST SEE that everyone forgets about). But they usually make some covers in concerts so I think it's better if you let yourself be surprised since you have the oportunity
A video that you definitely must watch before is 'Over the sky' or '하늘을 넘어'. It's not an MV but more like a performance video. The song it's an anniversary gift from dreamies to insomnias and they always sing it. It's really special and they even add sign language to the dance so more Insomnias can understand the meaning. They're not only really talented, hardworking and pure crackheads, the whole group is so open-minded and caring to everyone that
it's hard to understand how dark concepts suits them so well
Also, congratulations! You got every member right! Just see for the correct pronunciation in the comments. The Book is pretty central to the second part of story. Yoohyeon dropped it at the end of Good Night, it got lost for a very long time and the girls got split at the end of You and I. The forest where the book got dropped eventually got cut down and turned into a City where they were drawn to.
Jiu finds the Book again in the city while the girls experience a transformation into modern-day nightmares. In Piri, Jiu uses the book to try to save Yoohyeon's soul from where she was taken by the Spider Queen in You and I. All the girls experience their deepest fears within the nightmare dimension (except Yoohyeon whose fears we saw at the end of What) and Yoohyeon saves them all one by one. They're all now trapped in the dimension, but they are now all together.
Deja Vu is a collaboration with the game King's Raid. It's a completely different storyline. This time, Yoohyeon is the antagonist as she betrays the girls one by one (possibly after being overtaken by the Spider Queen?). Jiu is somehow resurrected after being stabbed in the back, and the story is still to be continued.
I saw them in London back in October and it was my first hi-touch too. It went by so quickly and I got so nervous and overwhelmed that I don't actually remember it! It's just... gone from my memory. All I remember is that I tried to say "thank you" in Korean to each member but I felt really conscious about my pronunciation and just sort of nervously mumbled it. So my advice would be to decide what you're going to say beforehand and say it with confidence. Make sure to look them in the eye and take a mental picture. Enjoy the moment because it goes by in a flash.
Enjoy the show! They're absolutely amazing live. Try not to get bias-wrecked by SuA. Her stage presence is insane and she'll test you at every opportunity.

piri is like a flute (the whistles in the bg) and piri was the first time we got to see gahyeon rapping and we stannnnnn (the little vibaration in siyeon's and sua's voice is called vibrato and is usually used to make a long note seem even longer when switching to it to end the note but they just use it as a way of styling their singing overall)
Really enjoyed the video, always makes me really happy to see people get invigorated over Dreamcatcher for the first time! and don't worry, all us InSomnias had the same problem choosing our favorite songs by Dreamcatcher, the most common thing I hear in the community is "there is no song by them I would skip". They just do such a good job at producing a variety of different concepts, but still retaining that Dreamcatcher style we all love!
You got all the names pretty much spot on! some pronunciations were a tiny bit off but as you hear them more you will catch on quickly. Only ones I'll mention are Dami is pronounced Dah-mee (as opposed to daa-mee) and Siyeon is pronounced She-yeon (as opposed to Si-yeon or Sigh-yeon) Others were so small it's not worth bringing up. :)
You pretty much covered all the main title tracks (besides Full Moon + Over The Sky, but they are anniversary specials, not like official albums. And of course Breaking Out, their first Japanese album, but that's not so important pre-concert anyways)

It looks like everyone got split up post-You And I searching for Yoohyeon, or at least the part of her soul that's missing. Jiu is the one who finds it at the end of the video after failing to rescue her last time.
Dami finds the lost book from the end of Goodnight.
Sua, Handong and Dami (IN MASKS) in a scene that was cut from the video are found together by Gahyeon.
Siyeon is the only one not interacting with anyone, oddly enough.
I suspect the Yoohyeon that's having nightmares is our Yoohyeon whose soul is partly missing, and she feels alone because everyone else is looking for that part and something sinister could have happened to her as well because of the Joker/grafitti scene, which could tie in to Gahyeon finding Handong, Dami and Sua who are all holding spray paint.

The white room is representative of the alternate dimension the Spider Curse Yoohyeon’s soul got left in in You and I (which is WHITE AND SNOWY). Jiu finds the book from Good Night in What and uses it to send the entire group in to save Yoohyeon. They are then confronted with their worst fears. Yoohyeon’s body eventually finds its soul (the shot of Yoohyeon looking up represents this), then she reaches out and finds all her friends as they all hold hands at the end. The hands that abduct most of our members throughout the MV is Yoohyeon. Whether the girls escape the dimension is...up to interpretation but the white room suddenly plunging into darkness isn’t a good sign. The important part is that they’re together at last
The individual nightmares are:
Siyeon - Alone in the dark
Handong - time passing you by
Gahyeon - the voices in your head
Jiu - the guilt that her obsession in finding Yoohyeon is an excuse in redeeming herself for failing to save YH in You and I

Dami - hers is a little hard to pinpoint but it feels like the fear of not finding what you need to find
Yoohyeon is the only one without an individual nightmare because this dimension IS her nightmare. Finding the Shofar at the beginning was a revelation, but it’s interrupted by our girls’ Piri. She hears it and sets out to find everyone. In the end, Yoohyeon saves everyone who came in to save her.

It's funny (in a good way) seeing you fall in love with Dreamcatcher at the same time I'm falling for your favourite Mamamoo. I've always been a big fan of them but Hip made me think I can't continue not stanning these girls. Hip and Piri are probably tied for my SOTY.

Deja Vu I think is the perfect example of a amazing song and an amazing video coming together and complimenting each other so well they become something even more incredible. I literally sat in silence for 5 mins after first watching it trying to contemplate what I'd just experienced.
From what I understand, the rock vibe isn’t super popular in Korea, but it IS a much bigger thing in Japan, which is probably why Dreamcatcher is starting to actively put out Japanese music. Deja Vu was actually made as part of a promotion for a Japanese video game, so DC seems to be doing pretty well for themselves regardless. 😎

Dreamcatcher has vidoes of themselves doing most of their fanchants on either the HappyFace Entertainment or Dreamcatcher Official youtube channels. The easiest to learn is their name chant which is used at some point in just about every song. It's their names in descending order of age (JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, Gahyeon) followed by something unique for each song (For Deja Vu its: Yeongwonhi! Sarangeyo!) Then it ends with the Korean pronunciation of their name which has 4 syllables (Due! Lim! Kae! Chyeo!)
