Adam West and Burt Ward (my childhood hero's) were and will always be the best on screen Batman and Robin ever. They were Batman and Robin in a class by themselves.

I kind of remember watching it first run but I don't remember watching it in syndication in the 70s. But I guess I must have. I don't think I appreciated it as much as a lot of people did.
Opera Singer... yes, tthe greatenes of the show is that it works on 2 levels. Kida can just enjoy the action, while adults can enjoy the humour and parodies which you don't get as a kid.,
It's good, clean entertainment that still entertains decades after it was made. Mr. West may be gone (as well as many of the actors who played the villains) but he and they will live on so long as Batman is on the job in Gotham city. :)
I was in love with Burt Ward. Watched every show. Met Burgess Meridith in a pet store Malibu about 9 months before he died. He was very sweet to me, a real gentleman. He loved being recognized. It was a wonderful moment!
Adam and Burt brought to life in the best possible way these 2 superheroes. The deadpan comedy was brilliant, the colors of the set, the biff/pow/bang callouts, it was all great. Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!
I was six years old when the series first came out. Made my parents put it on; the whole family watched it. Everybody loved it. Even got a Batman outfit for Christmas one year
We are the same age. It was a magical time to be a kid back then. Batman, Munsters, Green Hornet, Addams Family, Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Rat Patrol.... shows that kids and adults all enjoyed together.
This was the first movie my parents let me go to ALONE!!! People talk about how 'out there' or weird or different the series and movie and the stories were... ...wrong, the movies were made for US. WE never thought they were weird, they were cool!!!!! LOL Nothing's changed, it's just that we don't run the world - too young to be the rebels of the Sixties, too old to be the lunatics and banksters who keep needing 'bailing out' every five minutes. Can't stop laughing at all the 'serious people' in the world. Those people don't know what REAL serious is. WE do. (Double triple quadruple LOLz).

Boomers are a very distinct type - I watched them when I was really a small child but it was already clear what they were like. I know what the 'technical' definition of a baby boomer is, but one big difference for me is that both my mother and father were REALLY OLD when they had me and then my sister. They were themselves right outside of the generation that was having kids at the time and did not expect to have children at all! Worse still that is my actual current pic in the icon there - I don't look much over 35... I am 62. I could 'explain' more - but you wouldn't believe me. It's er woo woo na na na na, na na na na. Know what I mean? Say no more.

@@lloydkline3265 That's "Astin" not Austin. I saw one episode with him in more recent years. I don't remember him back then. He was a weak replacement for Frank Gorshin I thought. Astin was the last surviving member of Adam's Family long ago besides the kids and he's still alive.
I grew up watching the episodes on TV. Back in 2019 I finally got hold of a set of the episodes on DVD and the humor still holds up even today. "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb" will go down in TV history as one of the best known lines of any series. :)
I agree with Adam West. Catwoman was also definitely my favourite Batman villain too. Burt Ward's story is classic too. Imagine looking for jobs even being turned down getting employed at a gas station then finding out you get the part as the Robin character for a new Batman TV series. Wow now that is like winning the Mega Lottery after trying to find any job to get employed with.
The movie was a lot of fun--period. Adam West could best be described as stalwart, but his quiet and somewhat wooden delivery worked here. It was fun to see Burgess Meredith and Cesar Romero, two old pros, hamming it up, and Frank Gorshin was brilliant as the Riddler. He understood his role and understood the character of the Riddler more than anyone ever realized. Lee Meriwether was gorgeous! Oh, and the bomb scene? Justifiably famous. Considering Leslie Martinson worked on such a small set, it's amazing he managed to throw everything into the sink and get away with it. I do not concern myself with all the behind the scenes stuff. I just remember being a kid thrilled with superheroes on television. These were my Batman and Robin. Oh those years long before cable. We had only 3 stations, PBS and UHF.
I had a huge crush on Burt ward. He should have become the Brad pit of his time. I don’t understand how come he did not have a successful career after the series.
Due to him portraying Robin for a good while, he most likely ended up getting typecast. That is an actor's nightmare. When an actor gets typecast, they often have a difficult time receiving other roles

One very persistent myth over the years has been that the movie was actually filmed before the first season of the series but not released until months later. This is simply not true, thought it was the original plan. William Dozier wanted to do the movie first to help launch the series, and because a movie would have a bigger budget, allowing for all of the various vehicles and gadgets to be built and then used on the show. 20th Century Fox, however, was less enthusiastic about this idea, since they would be taking a bigger financial risk. Eventually it became a moot point when ABC asked Dozier to have the series ready to premiere in January 1966 rather than September of that year. After the series proved to be such a smash hit, it was decided to make the movie after all, both to cash in on the success of the show (obviously) and so they could use the bigger budget to build the additional vehicles - the Batcopter, the Batboat, and the Batcycle (though an earlier version of the cycle had already been used in one first season episode.)
As for arch enemies there were the Jocker, the Riddler, the Penguin and a Catwoman. Later on the producers added Mr. Freeze, the Ivy and the Egghead. Excellent actors and actresses. This program and the movies do merit two thumbs up.
I was in college when the first episode of "Batman" premiered. It was so anticipated that I had a hard time getting near a TV to see it. At that time I thought that I was seeing Adam West for the first time and it was years later before I realized that I had seem him only a year or two before that in one of my favorite "Outer Limits" episodes. The episode title was "The Invisible Enemy."
Doctor Who was also a successful series on television BEFORE there were any movies. The series began airing on November 23, 1963, the Saturday evening AFTER President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas) The first MOVIE hit theaters in 1965 with NONE of the television cast. They brought in veteran actor Peter Cushing to play the title character in that and in the 1966 follow-up film. Sylvester McCoy is, so far, the only actor from the TV series to play The Doctor and that was in an American made television movie from 1996 during which he regenerates into Paul McGann. This little gem gives Eric Roberts a great chance to chew the scenery as "The Master."
How could anyone not figure out Batman and Robin's secret identities? There voices were so unique. "Holy Guacamole, Batman", "Gosh, Bruce" and Robin's hair and most of his face was exposed. And they were always together as both identities. Commissioner Gorden and Aunt Harriet were clueless. Oh, well. That's TV I guess.
That's the idea guess the audience is supposed to be smarter than the people around them in the show Batman would've been harder because most of his face was hidden but anybody with the IQ of a goldfish could tell Robin's secret identity Also egghead failed to take that into account when deducing who batman was : he didn't need to do it hard millionaire with a kid same age range as robin I could see him still using the machine but not on Bruce he definitely would have confirmed both identities had he decided to grab Dick instead as he's not trained to resist a mind probe as well as Bruce

Such a great series and a favorite from the 60s.... yeah, it was better than a $1.10/hr gas station job for Burt, that's for sure. Cool to hear the inside story of some of the show. I couldn't have stopped laughing while filming... I loved the Batcave.... that's what I want instead of my garage.
Met George Barris and Adam West and sat in the Batmobile at the Detroit Autorama around 2001...I was absolutely thrilled and those 2 gentlemen were simply amazing to my 2 young daughters. A thrill to last our lifetimes. RIP BATMAN RIP Mr. BARRIS. 🙏🏻

8:03 Often wonder why they didn't just put green makeup over Cesar Romero's moustache so it blended with his hair/wig since you could see it anyway. Could've just addressed it and made it a trademark of Romero's Joker. Most incarnations of the Joker have unique features. Like how Heath Ledger's Joker had longer hair, the white paint coming off his face, the smudged black eyes and red lips and the scars that make him look like he's smiling.

Julie wasn’t filming McKenna’s Gold at that time. That’s been debunked. The studio wanted someone else for Catwoman for the movie. Lee was a former Miss America. They thought she would be more popular. That’s the real story. The other is a cover story Julie circulated over years at conventions.

Well, both Burt and Adam tell how Burt Ward did many of his stunts. The hairline disclaimer doesn't tell me much. When the wind is blowing hard at your hair, your hairline changes.

It was said that in the original script Robin beats Kato but Bruce Lee was not having any of that. Bruce was known for helping younger actors, Mako, Jackie Chan, Sammy Chong, and I think Sammo Hung.

kids in my neighborhood learned how to fist fight because of Batman.

I had a huge crush on Burt ward. He should have become the Brad pit of his time. I don’t understand how come he did not have a successful career after the series.
Due to him portraying Robin for a good while, he most likely ended up getting typecast. That is an actor's nightmare. When an actor gets typecast, they often have a difficult time receiving other roles
Ward was unfortunate in the long run as him landing the role of Robin was his first audition.

One very persistent myth over the years has been that the movie was actually filmed before the first season of the series but not released until months later. This is simply not true, thought it was the original plan. William Dozier wanted to do the movie first to help launch the series, and because a movie would have a bigger budget, allowing for all of the various vehicles and gadgets to be built and then used on the show. 20th Century Fox, however, was less enthusiastic about this idea, since they would be taking a bigger financial risk. Eventually it became a moot point when ABC asked Dozier to have the series ready to premiere in January 1966 rather than September of that year. After the series proved to be such a smash hit, it was decided to make the movie after all, both to cash in on the success of the show (obviously) and so they could use the bigger budget to build the additional vehicles - the Batcopter, the Batboat, and the Batcycle (though an earlier version of the cycle had already been used in one first season episode.)

I was in college when the first episode of "Batman" premiered. It was so anticipated that I had a hard time getting near a TV to see it. At that time I thought that I was seeing Adam West for the first time and it was years later before I realized that I had seem him only a year or two before that in one of my favorite "Outer Limits" episodes. The episode title was "The Invisible Enemy."
Doctor Who was also a successful series on television BEFORE there were any movies. The series began airing on November 23, 1963, the Saturday evening AFTER President John Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas) The first MOVIE hit theaters in 1965 with NONE of the television cast. They brought in veteran actor Peter Cushing to play the title character in that and in the 1966 follow-up film.
Sylvester McCoy is, so far, the only actor from the TV series to play The Doctor and that was in an American made television movie from 1996 during which he regenerates into Paul McGann.
This little gem gives Eric Roberts a great chance to chew the scenery as "The Master."
How could anyone not figure out Batman and Robin's secret identities? There voices were so unique. "Holy Guacamole, Batman", "Gosh, Bruce" and Robin's hair and most of his face was exposed. And they were always together as both identities. Commissioner Gorden and Aunt Harriet were clueless.
Oh, well. That's TV I guess.
That's the idea guess the audience is supposed to be smarter than the people around them in the show Batman would've been harder because most of his face was hidden but anybody with the IQ of a goldfish could tell Robin's secret identity
Also egghead failed to take that into account when deducing who batman was : he didn't need to do it hard millionaire with a kid same age range as robin I could see him still using the machine but not on Bruce he definitely would have confirmed both identities had he decided to grab Dick instead as he's not trained to resist a mind probe as well as Bruce

Batman has aired in reruns on Cable TV for the last 35 years since '89 when CBN which was renamed The Family Channel (later Fox Family then abc family and now Freeform) was the 1st Cable Network to air reruns of Batman TV Series (they even aired the original Batman Movie, too) from 1989-1992 with Labor Day of '92 being the last time to air on FAM with a 9 Hour Batmania Marathon which includes the movie version and then it was on FX, TV Land & VH1, Sci-Fi Channel (now SYFY), The Hub (Formally DIscovery Kids and now Discovery Family Network) and now on Me-TV & Antenna TV

Such a great series and a favorite from the 60s.... yeah, it was better than a $1.10/hr gas station job for Burt, that's for sure. Cool to hear the inside story of some of the show. I couldn't have stopped laughing while filming... I loved the Batcave.... that's what I want instead of my garage.
Met George Barris and Adam West and sat in the Batmobile at the Detroit Autorama around 2001...I was absolutely thrilled and those 2 gentlemen were simply amazing to my 2 young daughters. A thrill to last our lifetimes. RIP BATMAN

8:03 Often wonder why they didn't just put green makeup over Cesar Romero's moustache so it blended with his hair/wig since you could see it anyway. Could've just addressed it and made it a trademark of Romero's Joker. Most incarnations of the Joker have unique features. Like how Heath Ledger's Joker had longer hair, the white paint coming off his face, the smudged black eyes and red lips and the scars that make him look like he's smiling.

Julie wasn’t filming McKenna’s Gold at that time. That’s been debunked. The studio wanted someone else for Catwoman for the movie. Lee was a former Miss America. They thought she would be more popular. That’s the real story. The other is a cover story Julie circulated over years at conventions.
@Jim 762 MacKenna's Gold wasn't released until 1969, so it does seem strange that it would have been filmed three years earlier while Batman was filming.

Well, both Burt and Adam tell how Burt Ward did many of his stunts. The hairline disclaimer doesn't tell me much. When the wind is blowing hard at your hair, your hairline changes.

It was said that in the original script Robin beats Kato but Bruce Lee was not having any of that. Bruce was known for helping younger actors, Mako, Jackie Chan, Sammy Chong, and I think Sammo Hung.
