Kalia Beach, Dead Sea, Israel (March 2023)

The Dead Sea is situated between the hills of Judaea (Israel) to the west and the Transjordanian plateau (Jordan) to the east. The sea is 50 km long and 15 km wide. It contains 114 km3 (997 cu ft) of water. The lake surface is 431 meters below sea level making it the lowest land-base elevation on earth. Its water is 9.6 times as salty as the ocean and has a density of 1.24 kg/liter which makes swimming similar to floating. No plants or animals can flourish in this water but only bacteria and algae.
