When you said the video was in French I turned the subtitles on (assuming auto translation) - half way through the video I was like hang on I've just been enjoying the video in French (I studied French for 5 years, never confident enough to speak) but it's almost 20 years since I've had to think in French - like riding a bike I guess!

There is also a culture of heavy drinking and doing drugs in France among a certain part of the population, mostly students, artists or night life workers. Of course it is a rightfull choice to be far of those habbits, but you can't say it's a English specificity.
