I met him in Afghanistan in December 2010. He came the week before Christmas. After the show he did photo ops with everyone in the audience. When I went to shake his hand he just bear hugged me and said “God bless you thank you” I won’t lie. I gotta little choked up. He was such a great person.
I never really knew or thought about it at the time, but most interviewers never even bothered preparing questions ahead of talking to Robin Williams. They knew he'd run the show on his own.
That was one of the best things about Robin, he could always make you laugh. No matter how bad of a day I was having, I knew that if I watched one of his interviews, I would be laughing so hard my sides would hurt.
He gave us enough. The world will miss him but he gave us enough of himself already. The tragedy is the loss for his children and spouse. Even for friend's I would say he gave enough and he didn't want to go on for whatever reason. I think 100 years from now people will still know who he is because of the body of work he left behind. He is great human being.
John Cunningham He left because he knew he had - not Parkinson's, but a fatal, degenerative brain disease, Lewy Body Dementia, that changes your personality as it progresses, in horrible ways. And it had started to change him. He didn't want to change. This is according to his wife. I would do the same. My husband agrees 100%. It's unfair and so sad. Terrible tragedy, terrible loss. It absolutely gutted me. His humor got me through some very rough times. Thank you, dear soul, from the bottom of my heart.
talk about QUICK witted..he had this aced. Genius Comedian and i love him ..so happy i have all these Videos to see him in. Makes me feel like he is in the room with me. Rip Robin...
That was his genius. His incredible talent for mimicry and character observation and his amazing ability to freestyle between subjects ad infinitum with nary a pause for breath. One of a kind.
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Jax Canaan Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
robin touched so many peoples lives through laughs and cries. he was one of the most talented actors/comedians ever. he will never be forgotten. if only we could have repaid his laughter.
What I loved about Robin was his versatility..... he was hilariously funny with that rapid fire delivery and quick response time yet extremely deep and philosophical. He could come off a three minute crazy rant and go quiet for a second then speak with utter eloquence. What a unique person he was and I'm so glad we still have him in some way through his films and wonderful appearances and interviews.
I think I could study and replicate Robin Williams comedy but it looks exhausting :p I think I'd need to start doing coke to keep my energy level up. :)
Just an fyi, Robin wasn't depressed, he'd been struggling with a rare and debilitating form of dementia that was progressing rapidly. He was literally losing his mind, and it was literally killing him. That's why he chose to leave us when he did, while he still had a part of himself left. There are interviews from his widow if you're interested, but I don't begrudge him his choice. RIP, thanks for the laughs.
As a son who has lost two parents by watching the life drain our of them, you "are depressed" when the blueprint, of who you are, is failing and there is nothing you can do about it! Robin made his "decision", before he lost the "ability" to make it, miss him!
I remember him from his very beginning on tv as Mork back in the 70's and he is the only comedian in this world I would have loved to receive a huge hug from, his sweetness, humor, and a REAL sincere desire to make you laugh, not just for the money is PRICELESS. He is the ONLY celebrity I actually cried over after feeling nostalgic following his death when I watched Dead poets society.
Can't watch this Without LAUGHING!! Haaaaaaa!! How THFk Could He Make the 'klicking' (like Kalahari guys) Then Switch to Scottish?? lol Sides are SORE!!
Amen Brother!!! If there was ANYONE who deserves a hug from the entire world, it certainly is Robin. He lives forever in my heart, idolise him for how much joy he gave to countless others ALL his life.... Priceless how he keeps Charlie in nonstop stitches for the duration.... One of the Infinium of Robin Moments..... Via Con Dios my Dear Friend..... And highest Honor and Respect for Mr. Rose..... This is a gem indeed . Namaste.
He had a chronic neurodegenerative disease. He went with dignity instead of waiting for the disease to take its course. If he didn't he would have ended in diapers, not remembering his family. Unable to feel happy or to take care for himself. This is why euthanasia should be legalised in the united states. With euthanasia laws in other countries you can wait until the disease gets pretty bad. In this case he had to end it while he was still able to.
Wemja It was just depression, it doesn't make you remember things or put you in diapers. First only concussion can take away your memories and second you only have to wear diapers if you have a bladder infection just like my grandma, not the concussion just the bladder infection.
He doesn't need cocaine to be funny! I'm so glad he realized it before he left us too early. Long life and good health to Robin Williams! ADHD Poster Man!! We love you!
He was so extreme and funny, over the top and intensely stimulating, he must have wondered if people would like him still if he wanted to calm down for a minute
Makes me so happy that he was such great friends with Billy Connolly (My hero since a child) Still can't get over the fact Mr Williams ain't with us anymore, there has been a massive void left in comedy since he left us :(
I normally wouldn't sit through an entire Charlie Rose interview, but Robin Williams' stream-of-consciousness interviews were some of the most brilliant pieces of comedy ever recorded. The man was a comedy machine with a huge heart.
but shite just think if we didnt have robin williams or youtube........then wed have to bloody well sit there and do imitations of robin to each other.......holy crap...wed have to actually talk to each other......yikes!
@Big Bill Doyle, if God is so cruel as to condemn someone for not wanting to suffer any more, then Hell has to be a better place than Heaven. In which case, Robin is probably making it an even better place.
wow, please share some stories! You must have a few? Did he ever have time to come out & chew the fat with you over the fence or standing in the driveway on a warm summer night as good neighbors often do?
oh my god! my family sounds almost exactly like that! holy shit XD they just have a more deep accent than him, but it's spot on other than that! Also, I love golf, and that is exactly what gold is: anger and a sliver of hope surrounded by frustration
Absolutely brilliant. Scottish part on the invention of golf is simply hysterical -- starts at 4:30. His Scots accent is amazing -- just perfect. Great to hear that he and Billy Connally are good friends, and he heads to Scotland every year to see him...
love his many accents. He did irish and scottish accents back to back on his broadway show. Never noticed it at first, but there are differences and he shows that.
very very funny man .. such a talent .. great to have lots of videos and movies that we can still watch and enjoy this great comedian. Gone but not forgotten - ever!
Oh Robin, you are so missed. Who else had the fast brain and talent to even be close. Robin, you were a super star. God bless him. His legend lives on in video.
bless you Robin...may your journey roam thru many pleasant pastures. You gift so much joy, to so many...lifting spirits with your gentle presence and buoyant faery tales whisking us far away to your world...so sorry we couldn't give a little back to you when you so needed us. RIP my friend, whom I was never blessed to meet.
Robin is neither in heaven nor in hell. Cuz St. Peter is not letting him go yet ... because having Robin by his side is like having a crack all day every day!
He was the best comedian ever. There will never be another like him. The world is now missing one of it's greatest son's. From me and the rest of Scotland we love you Robin xxxxx
no fucking way :p Fuck those little pukes he worked with. He has so many other better films. You obviously haven't seen that many Robin Williams films. From Moscow On the Hudson to What dreams May Come and Bicentennial Man. So many other better films.
In the year of our Lord, 1314, 700 years ago, patriots of Scotland charged the fields of Bannockburn to win their freedom. 700 years later, 2014, all you have to is say aye to win yours
I think part of Robin's problem was that he always felt he had to be "on". He never seemed to take it easy on himself, or maybe couldn't take it easy at all. God only knows what kind of deep-seeded demons of inadequacy (if any) he may have dealt with, or even if from childhood. Now most of us learn to how push them away or even to outgrow them, but some can only pile layer after layer over them, to try and hide from them, and forget. And for them that may only be start. You can of course just say that it was his addiction and mentally it had finally run its course, exhausting him. That's not so hard to understand, is it? But I cannot believe that a man with his intellect, his wit, his zeal and his soul could be conquered by only one demon. To me there would have had to have been many, many more than one. Of course I loved him . . . who didn't? Yet I didn't bother with "Crazy Ones" and I didn't want too, feeling it would just be Robin Regurgitated. After all, growing up with him from Days of Mork gave me the feeling that I have seen it all before. But it was when he would step boldly into the unknown that he was at his best, and how many times had he done that? For when did he brought with him all the fury of Nemo stalking his White Whale, as if charged by God to see it all the way to the end, no matter which mask he was wearing: comedy, tragedy or his own unique and ironic blend of both. So now Robin becomes a Greek Tragedy. I hope that at least in death he finds the peace he could not here, with all of us, just by being himself. And if there is any justice, Robin is rolling them in the aisle's of St. Peter's Gate right now.
When they were shooting the on-air radio scenes of 'Good Morning, Vietnam', they gave him a list of the headlines to work into it and just let him go. He came up with hours of extra stuff just off the top of his head.
He had a lot more problems than depression. He had a degenerative mental illness that you can't heal. The world suffers his loss but to save him would have meant to force him to suffer for years well losing his mind. That's terribly cruel.
3:09 to hear a legit laugh from a unknowingly depressed and mentally struggling man is so surreal, RIP Robin Williams u were a huge part of my life and will be fore ever missed

Alan Prentice I voted in the Glasgow City boundaries because I moved house and I was still on the electorate roll for there, but now live in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. Severely proud of all who voted yes especially in Glasgow & West Dunbartonshire as these two places are right next to each other and both my home! North Lanarkshire also voted YES Aswell mate! Alba gu brath. One day we will be free.
R.I.P Mr. Robin. You were my childhood, you were a good man, you were a great voice actor. "Go now for there are other world's than this." Some page your still alive and are dealing with today like we do now without you 👍🏿

There was and always only be one.
Wow!! Beautiful 🫶🏽
I love how the interviewer is just giggling the whole time, not even able to ask any questions XD
+Katie Luzadder Or even need to! :)
He knew really well how to keep the laughs going once started, so he just kept pushing and pushing the jokes until people were laughing in tears.
He just broke that journalist...
I never really knew or thought about it at the time, but most interviewers never even bothered preparing questions ahead of talking to Robin Williams. They knew he'd run the show on his own.

RIP Sir...you will be greatly missed
Rocco A. Spencer I
Damn, the world suffered a massive loss with this guy's passing. =(
Cute McBeauty I'm still suffering
Cute McBeauty He was like a father to me ;)
Cute McBeauty I can't believe it's already been 9 months! I seems like just yesterday
It's been 2½ years now and I watch this and miss him. Never even met him, but we all feel we connected... or Robin connected to everyone, rather.
How long ago did he die
I’m a very proud Scottish woman.I just loved Robin Williams, he is sorely missed.
❤️❤️❤️❤️

John Cunningham He left because he knew he had - not Parkinson's, but a fatal, degenerative brain disease, Lewy Body Dementia, that changes your personality as it progresses, in horrible ways. As a Scotsman who loves golf, I find this hilarious. He was a funny genius.
I'm an American, what he said about the bag pipes had me laughing so hard I'm weak.
aye he's fucking brilliant

Charlie Rose cracked up.

Unfunny.
I'm Scottish and I loved this man very much. I'm so devastated he's gone, I still can't believe his death was real 😢
gyt yah bass!!!
Just an fyi, Robin wasn't depressed, he'd been struggling with a rare and debilitating form of dementia that was progressing rapidly. I had the impression that he had no control over his actions and thus his passing was NOT intentionally done.
Choice? What about burning in hell for eternity?
NOOooooo 18 F***n times. If he was Scottish he would have a Knighthood just like Sir Sean Connery. R.I.P Sir Robin Williams....Legend, from a Scot. x
I remember him from his very beginning on tv as Mork back in the 70's and he is the only comedian in this world I would have loved to receive a huge hug from, his sweetness, humor, and a REAL sincere desire to make you laugh, not just for the money is PRICELESS. He was a seriously funny guy. Just absolutely brilliant.

Mr. Williams.......you left us far too soon.........
Amazing! He's so calm, yet so full of energy.
The most naturally talented man ever. A true legend.
Robin William's legacy will live on forever within the hearts of the people. Even now he makes me smile. God rest his soul.

2018 and remembering his memories. He's still missed by many. RIP Genie/My Captain
Even the funniest people have the greatest sadness
Robin William's American accent is so much more refined than most, it's a joy to hear him speak.
Funny how if this was something he did today everybody would be calling him racist... ._.
good point, This was before the left wing lost what was left of its mind and crossed over into mind control. Robin was free.
JOYCE CLEMONS Joyce you are so tragically correct. All the best.
yup, but I don't care if he does it, he was a professional funnyman, these commoners aren't so.
stacybananagrape(torontogirl) skype me you sexy bitch
@@joyceclemons3916...and a very outspoken liberal. God bless him for that!
Such pure comedic genius. R.I.P. Robin, make 'em laugh in Heaven.
In the year of our Lord, 1314, 700 years ago, patriots of Scotland charged the fields of Bannockburn to win their freedom. 700 years later, 2014, all you have to is say aye to win yours
AlexanderHL Second referendum should be imminent. I sure hope, so!
I am just like the interviewer - laughing constantly...I so miss Robin Williams xxx
Robin Williams died today at the age of 63.
R.I.P. Mr. Williams.
Loved this stand up still miss him.... Robin you will never be forgotten
He's not bloody dead! Never!
I love him alot love all his movies
"generic comment about how robin is great and he is dead now and everyone is sad"
con3dbz actually this is pretty funny :) I think robin would have laughed.
He would've probably liked this comment
Robin was simply amazing!
Love hearing him talk about Billy Connolly. Still think Billy is a very underrated comedian. Sad to see him nowadays. Miss ya, Robin.
When they were shooting the on-air radio scenes of 'Good Morning, Vietnam', they gave him a list of the headlines to work into it and just let him go. He came up with hours of extra stuff just off the top of his head.
CALM DOWN ..
Luv how the interviewer can't utter a word for a good 5min, just laughter comes out his mouth
I suffer from depression. I wish I could have been of some help. Robin, why did you do this. I pray that you will find rest.
He had a lot more problems than depression. He had a degenerative mental illness that you can't heal. The world suffers his loss but to save him would have meant to force him to suffer for years well losing his mind. That's terribly cruel.
3:09 to hear a legit laugh from a unknowingly depressed and mentally struggling man is so surreal, RIP Robin Williams u were a huge part of my life and will be fore ever missed
ahh 2006, when half way through the audio stops matching their lips.
Always so funny!!! Great Imitations at the beginning Fantastic
