The story with Bill Gates was a great way to explain the outlayer concept. I have been working with numbers and data now for several years, but can not convince consultants or customers to use "Mode" so I may not miss it in power bi. But I know it is my own mistake, I have not found a good example in our data, that can convince them
How would you show the dual mode in a card? Since there will be more than one value to choose from, you would need to use some sort of wrapper function to place each value in a string with let’s say, separation by a comma. I would like to do that, so I can show that multiple made in a card. Can you add that wrapper code to the existing dax function (instead of minx, maxx)?
Very useful thanks Ruth. It seems to me that you explained the Italians' Mode calculation twice - once from about 14.30 and then again from 22ish. Or did I miss the difference?
Hi Ruth, Did you change any data in Sample 1 at 13:56 of the video? Before that Sample 1 is showing an Average of $50,000 and at 13:56 it becomes $49,250. With the previous numbers, I get the Mode as $45,000 for both Samples. Thanks, Jeff
Hi Ruth Thank you for this excellent video. Good that you are doing the statistic measures. For the mode, can't we calculate using the following DAX measure? Mode := VAR ModeTable = DISTINCT ( TOPN ( 1, ADDCOLUMNS ( VALUES ( 'Sample 1'[Income] ), "frequency", CALCULATE ( COUNT ( 'Sample 1'[Income] ) ) ), [frequency], 0 ) ) VAR ModeSum = SUM ( 'mode table'[Income]) VAR ModeCount = COUNTROWS ( ModeTable ) RETURN DIVIDE ( ModeSum, ModeCount, 0 )
Hi Ruth, a question you might help me with ;) How can we extract the second latest date depending on id's. E.g a table with a date, an id and a revenue column. Now we would like to get the difference between the latest revenue and the second latest revenue for each id. Any ideas? Thank you
Hi Ruth Best in class!!! can you pls. upload the example to the new web center? I was trying to look there for #96 and it looks it was removed. Thanks!
Ruth me he dado cuenta que te tomas el tiempo de leer todos los comentarios haha, soy fan! Tus videos me han eseñado como nadie!
Lo intento, pero youtube no me los enseña todos :( , asi que contesto los que me llegan!
Thank you, Ruth! You just saved my life with the mode measure.
Yey!!! 🎉🎉

lovely!! I did it. The material you were consulting is a book?
Gracias Ruth, Excelente tema!!! espero hagas muchos más! incluir rigor estadístico en nuestros análisis aporta más valor a nuestros modelos!
Fully agree!
Excellent! I will if the metrics are good :)
/Ruth
Is there a way to do this by criteria? For example, a mode by month, or mode by order number?

Mmmm to be honest, I don’t use mod either, but that has to do with my own ignorance! Let me see if I can find a good example.

Thank you, your example was very useful, clear and it gave me a very good understanding of outlayer concept.
Glad to hear!

Ouch! You are so right!!! I fixed that now for new viewers. Thanks a ton!
/Ruth
Thank you so much I needed mode for a project I was working on! This is perfect
You welcome, glad it was useful!

Hi! Not that I remember, but I can’t say for sure.
Let me put the file for download (probably tomorrow) and you can check mine with yours.

@@CurbalEN It can wait until Mo day as that is when I will be back in the office. Thanks and have a great weekend.
Monday it is, have a great weekend :)

Great explanation. Microsoft has recently added more statistical functions and has not included mode.
Yes I saw that! Hopefully I get to those in the series :)
Happy Friday!

Hi Ruth
Thank you for this excellent video. Good that you are doing the statistic measures.
For the mode, can't we calculate using the following DAX measure?
Mode :=
VAR ModeTable =
DISTINCT (
TOPN (
1,
ADDCOLUMNS (
VALUES ( 'Sample 1'[Income] ),
"frequency", CALCULATE ( COUNT ( 'Sample 1'[Income] ) )
),
[frequency], 0
)
)
VAR ModeSum =
SUM ( 'mode table'[Income])
VAR ModeCount =
COUNTROWS ( ModeTable )
RETURN
DIVIDE ( ModeSum, ModeCount, 0 )
You mean to calculate it by adding up both modes and divide by 2? Sure, you can do that :)
/Ruth
You can change Minx by SUMX and then divide by the max of frequency.
/Ruth
yes. Thanks.
Thanks you!!, I love it you example to calculate the mode

Thank you!!!! You save my life with mode measure. Awesome!
Curbal lifeguards at your service ;)
More statistics videos especially on correlation please 😊
I will evaluate the 3 videos and if they have done ok, I will continue :)
/Ruth
Useful stuff, brilliant example and clear explanation.
Phew!! Thanks :)
/Ruth
Great explanation! Thanks Ruth!
Thank you! Very good examples!
Wonderful! Really happy it was useful!
/Ruth
Thanks Teacher, great class and your carisma is better. Good Work!
Thanks Jorge!!
/Ruth
Thank you very much!!! Very clear!!!! Cool!
Great stats
Thanks, fun video to do :)

Hi Ruth
Best in class!!!
can you pls. upload the example to the new web center? I was trying to look there for #96 and it looks it was removed.
Thanks!
Oh! I will check it out, it should be there. If it is not... I don’t keep copies anywhere else...
Hi, Question? Can you return the mode as a table.
Maybe? Try with a calculated table.
/Ruth
What was the name of the website where you read the story?
I forgot the link!! it is now in the description box of the video.
/Ruth
Hi.. Curbal sound is too bad. Pl change it with new one.
Is it bad? I checked and it sounded ok for me?
/Ruth
I mean to say.. The water bubbles sound not the name.
Ahhh! What would you like to have?
/Ruth
Some thing else.. It should be a mature sound. As all your viewers are office executive.
Any suggestions?
/ Ruth
Hello! i would like to know how i can find the average of a measure that i created.
That needs a video on its own, I will add it to my list!
/Ruth
thank you =)
good introduction
Statistics can be fun, who knew!
/Ruth
That was very useful, thank you
You welcome!!
