As a newb to the ultra endurance world, fit has become pretty important to me and made a big difference. Thanks for the tip on the clip-on aeros, was about to pull the trigger on a set that I couldnt adjust the arm rest and never knew there were models that did!
The James Gang rides again! I love Bike Fit Tuesday with Professor James and I don't care on what day they are filmed :) I never miss a video posted by Francis and always look forward to the next. Great job my friend!
sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Zakai Gatlin Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Wish you were in Australia, I'm desperate for a decent bike fit, not sure whether to go back to my old fitter or try someone else. Did a 603 km 24 hr unsupported ride on Saturday and struggled with saddle sores, chafing, knee tendinitis, cramping feet and lower back pain. It's a tough ride I guess but I'm sure it could be done better. I think Profile Design has aero bars with the J1 mount that allows the pads to move independent of the handle bar. I have the J4 mount which is part of the reach problem I'm experiencing with limited rearwards setback of pads. Thanks for sharing,it's given me some things to checkout.
interesting. i had the opposite experience. switching to a longer stem + reducing the saddle to bar drop made me a lot more comfortable while keeping a fairly aggressive/aerodynamic geometry.
I wish we had someone like this in Sweden to do bikefits. I’ve looked but until now only the run of the mill basic ones. If any Swedish peps know of one please add a comment. Oh yeah, the video as always is great.
How many years has James studied this stuff? And he has a point, trying on shoes in a shop is one thing, but riding with them is another! So what is the answer, buy shoes from him, you can then try them on on his rig downstairs, everyone's a winner! He's a good sales man too!
Thank you for yours videos! I have a problem on direct drive trainer Elite Suito: I boat a new pair Shimano RC7 and after a 1 hour im start to feel a numbness in my big toe on left foot and slightly on right foot too. Am I set up my cleats from in comparation of my prev shoes or something other reason? On the street rides I feel great. Same bike.
Again a brilliant video. Thumbs up. But sorry I don’t/can’t read all the comments even those in the past...what about Chris and some others? I know currently it’s difficult but...
Sorry for my limited vocabulary. Where are some of the fellows surrounding you in the past.. in addition to the great content from the last videos there was some funny stuff before. Hm... maybe my question was wrong and should not be asked in such a private forum like this :-)
Quick question...what should I be looking for in terms of a shop to have this level of bike fit? (Software, set up etc) I’m in south Florida...you guys know anyone down this way? Love the channel
1.What's a good type of clipless system for a guy that rides with platform pedals and straps on a fixed gear? Im opting for SPDs as I just use my bike on the weekends on more or less 100km rides or Fast laps around the city circuit. Does the lacing system matter for fixed gear riding since you cannot technically change the fit while pedaling unlike in road cycling. 2. Does a fixed gear bike fit differ in some aspects compared to road and gravel fits? Love the return of bike fit tuesdays, especially with the current situation everywhere.
@@Cade_Media Thanks Francis! Your videos are shot nicely, while still being detailed and quite informative. Helpful to us chaps who aren't capable of getting a proper bike fit. Kudos to you!
Should have said any bike can be fixer in gear. Just requires the rear mech removing and the necessary hub on the wheel. Think you need a singulator to replace the rear mech. Of course fixed gear bikes are available. Doesn't matter about the fastening as long as theymdont compress your feet
Interesting that he talked so much about pressure on the hands and handlebar height... completely missing the point of handlebar heights effect on the neck position (usually the biggest factor in ultra distance)
Soft upper are those knit type shoes. Lake uses leather or a synthetic material like sidi. Those knit shoes do nothing. Like having a cardigan on your feet
So how are you guys doing over there dealing with this virus crap. We don't hear a lot about it over here in the states except for Italy of course in China. Basically all of America is at a stay-at-home policy right now unless you need food or medicine or gas basically the necessities. We're expecting a spike because more test gets have become available which is you know par for the course. We haven't heard a lot or I have it anyways seen a lot about Great Britain and London and your neck of the woods. I've been doing a lot of social distancing on my mountain bike even when it snows
Love the video, notice the tri-bars'hand positions are now are almost level with the hoods. Be great if you could do a follow up video/instagram photos on where AJ's position ended up. Whats Aj's instagram
Love these videos. I mean, come on, I am old, fat, and just watching someone across the atlantic to me talking about proper fit, has enabled me to knock out several areas that my old fat ass thought would just hurt forever, and that was just the deal. Couldn't be happier finding this channel.
I’m enjoying the bike so far ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Never get tired of that intro.

I'm here for the intro
Once again full of information &no BS. James is a guru &you're input is gold 🤩🤘👏
Keep up the great content Francis! I really look up to your style of video...
BFT Question: best way to move a fit from your old bike to the shiny new one.
"The sound of silence" is really a nice track for a bike fit, specially to finish it. No sound of cracking tendons...

Profile aero bars (the T range) also do a similar elbow pad that can be positioned independently.
Not really interested in long distance riding but this fit was interesting 👍
Double Everesting?!? Wow, AJ belongs to a different cycling league. Very interesting video. Thank you.
What's James/your opinion on knitted shoes? Seeing more of them around.
I met a couple of guys at my local bike shop doing the transatlantic way race.
I imagine that Redshift’s adjustable saddle is a must for this cyclist.
I’m liking the cap AJ has on 😃
Would like see more on this since I'm also signed up for TCR, at least for next year after this year's cancellation.
Brilliant

I'd appreciate if the intro music would be at same level as the voices.

On the trainer you don't need to make your shoes very tight. Have you tried loosening them? I barely tighten mine at all when I'm on the trainer

What the areo bars used in this video?
Sorry for not getting it, but what was it that eventually helped the numbness in AJ's feet?
Cheers

Most common adjustment you make for customers?
Unfortunately no TCR, as well as all other ultra races. Looks like everyone is gonna be faster next year
Rush in for the zero ° discount folks! Seriously, a good bike fit is worth the price.
Funny buggers mixed with some interesting information.
