    Very nice to see the 4th coal paying off, congrats :)
    It still stays unfathomable for me how you can trail your opponents so hard in age III and still come out ahead, great display of skill.

    Nice one. I was a little surprised you didn’t go for Harvard or Engineering for 2 the following turn but your CA usage did make sense. That 4th Coal sure did turn out to be a great move, too. Ty for the video!

      This must be the first time in TtA history Wei didn't go for an easily available Harvard 🙂

      @@_DaemonCleaner Yes, for a long time I assumed he must be from Boston he likes Harvard so much. I was shocked to find out he’s from Germany. The accents are very similar so easy mistake ;)

      Haha, yes, I like the Harvard quite a lot. I think in this situation it is just a bit too late and I rather want to increase my science with Computers or Multimedia if I get my hands on those.

    Great stuff! The moment whsvin took IRC from you, I was certain you're gonna gut him with that war, but his bluff with modern army paid off and he got away with it. Solid moves and spot on calculations from you.

      This is whsvin. I really had the modern army tactic! I didnt show it because of the reason mentioned in the video.

    Another very interesting game. James Watt seems to get more playtime lately considering DJPs and Daneos coverage.
    Very strong Mandela again. I was a little surprised when Weidenbaum didn't take pyramids for 1 CA more.

    Great game! Really liked the demonstration of strategic planning in age 3 in preparing for your big war over pretty much every age 3 turn.
    One question - with you making so many videos I’ve seen you tend to bluff the ability to defend against aggressions quite frequently. Are you worried at all your opponents will catch on to this in future games from watching your videos and try their hand at more aggressions in the future?

    • @weidenbaumtta2889
      @weidenbaumtta2889  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! It is certainly somewhat dangerous to be a notorious bluffer and share all of those bluffs online : D
      I would not be surprised if the knowledge about me bluffing sometimes has an effect on the decision making of players that watch my videos. Luckily in an ongoing game my opponents just don´t know if I am bluffing or if I have the necessary defense cards in hand, so I hope that this effect, if there, is rather small.

      Yeah, on that one turn where he would have lost an upcoming aggression, he could have easily eliminated that possibility by simply building a cannon (which he was going to do soon anyway). I DEFINITELY would have done that; those Age II aggressions can be nasty! Yet, he took a significant risk just to get a three card draw instead of two. That was BOLD!

    Originally, I planed to marked some critical turn which you made non-obvious decisions and summarized it in the comment section from this video. But this is such a rich game that I have to rewatch the video to completely understand your thought process in all those difficult turns. Transforming infrastructure into culture is one of the most challenging part of TTA. It's always nice to see a game like this.
    P.S. What happens to pv4 shows that classic army is a F-tier tactic in an infrastructure-heavy game lol.

    wp! Why do you consider Ashoka better in the laer positions? Only since you can already pick up a yellow already along with him and it is likely to have a decent card to take for 2 CA in the next turn?

    • @weidenbaumtta2889
      @weidenbaumtta2889  Год назад +3

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, I think you named already some of the important reasons. I think being able to already take a yellow card together with Ashoka on the first turn (or take Ashoka and a wonder and then have a "free" CA to take a yellow at the second turn) is quite a big advantage to get his ability going as quickly as possible. Occasionally you will be able to already get a second colour on the second turn, but I think the even more important difference is in the third turn. When playing in first position, most of the times there will be no age I cards available for one CA at the third turn. However when playing in the last position, there most of the times are already multiple age I cards available for one CA, making it a lot more easy and also less costly, to get Ashokas ability going as quickly as possible.

    pv4 must have thought, "What the hell just hit me?!!" He had a 66 point lead over you (plus much better culture production) going into the final turn, but ended up losing to you by 54!! You went from 103 to 279 -- a 176 point gain with just your final turn, war result, and impacts. Incredible!

    I gotta admit, I don't get your swordsman upgrades early on. In both cases you were starving for events to push, you were 2nd in strength, you also had no issues with corruption, there were two very favorable events coming and having warriors over swordsmen even makes you more flexible with sending away troops (as with Isabella + 3 colonization cards there is no way you lose the colony while also sending away an army imo). Are those draws really not that important?

    • @weidenbaumtta2889
      @weidenbaumtta2889  Год назад +3

      Those early age II draws are certainly quite important, but I think in both turns there were some reasons to go for the upgrade. At the second turn the upgrade helps me getting out of corruption when I grab the Reserves. Instead of taking Reserves I could do a second farm upgrade to get out of corruption, but with being only on Bronze mines I rather wanted to have the Reserves. Those could especially be useful in case coal is late and I maybe go for an age II wonder like Ocean Liner before I can go for coal.
      The swordsmen upgrade on the first turn is maybe a bit more questionable. However I disagree with the statement that I am guaranteed to win the colony when I send an army away. I think it is certainly a possibility that whsvin has one or two age I colonisation cards in hand and then has drawn an additional age II card with the Colossus draw. In that case he could bid 6/7 if he sends a knight away, and even 7/8 if he is willing to send a knight and a warrior. Not upgrading the warrior leaves me more flexible for colonisation, but upgrading increases the amount I can bid. With the Suez Canal in there I really wanted to make my chances as big as possible to win the colony and was thus willing to go for the upgrade. But I think it´s a close call and not upgrading is also completely fine, maybe even the better move at this turn.
