Great game, thanks. The most defining play was taking Warfare IMO. With 2 MA you'd have hard time to build your military and be prepared for aggressions from your opponents.
Thanks for posting! Always fun to watch. Yeah, I’m not sure about the Oil and Marie decision. It's synergistic, but seems pretty late to take it and with everyone else having so many CA, there were only going to be a few turns left (turned out to be just 3). In the end, for your investment of 7 CA and 6 rocks, you netted +6 rocks (including the +3 you received from Economic Progress), +9 science, and +3 culture (vs. keeping Bach, not counting any extra Bach bonus you could have got with Movies), if I calculated that correctly. Not taking Military Theory at that point also seemed risky. What do you think about taking and developing the available Democracy in this situation instead, just for the extra culture? You didn’t mention this option, but did you consider it? Instead of the above return, those 4 CA (and +8 science vs Oil) would have netted +12 culture (+3 * 4) instead of +3 culture, plus you’d still have those initial 6 rocks to invest elsewhere and 3 more CA (by not taking Marie or upgrading to one Oil mine).
Thanks for your comment! Yes, I think going for Marie + Oil might have been not the correct decision at this turn. When I made the decision, I on one hand expected the game to be one turn longer then it turned out in the end. My opponents had a lot of CA, but two of them also had a relatively full hand at this point, which is why I was surprised that the game ended that quickly with 29 cards being left in the Civil Deck after my turn. Also I was hoping to get a second upgrade in at the next turn. However, the problem of me not being able to threaten enough military if I go for the second upgrade could have been forseen with doing some calculations, so that was definitely an oversight. When going for oil I think it is not only about the pure amount of resources that the investment is netting, but also about the possibility to delay the commitment of resources until it will be more clear if those will be needed in the military or can be used to maximise culture and preprare for impacts. But I still agree that the oil investment probably didn´t give enough benefits at the end. The Democracy turn I didn´t consider during the game and also think that it wouldn´t be the best way to go. I think it´s too big of a science investment and would leave me very inflexible on how I can prepare for different impacts, as, in case there is some military pressure going on, I might need all my science left for Military Theory or Air Forces. So I think with this play I think it´s a lot less likely, that I can go for such an investment like Movies in the end (without being in danger of aggressions/wars) which would cost me quite some culture. I think at the end the best turn might have been to go for Civil Service + taking Military Build Up, Military Theory and Endowment (+ something else). I wouldn´t score the additional culture from Democracy, but with having impact of Progress in hand I would gain some points from there. And having the additional CA´s at the following turns would also translate in some economical value + being flexible for impact preparation. The Military Build Up would help me a lot for threatening enough strength and I wouldn´t let the Military Theory through to Lcfyx. This turn I did consider during the game, but at the end was too intrigued by the oil with my above described hopes for an additional turn and a second upgrade at the next turn.

With your World Champion status, do you find that other players are far more reluctant to offer you Pacts (and are more deliberately taking cards to block you in particular)? In this game, that's tough going last AND having all the pacts go elsewhere. You still managed though.
Generally I don´t have the feeling that I get less pacts offered or that players are trying to hurt me in particular. However in this stage I felt like I indeed got left out a lot on pacts. Maybe it is because in the current format only the first place matters (in contrast to earlier stages where 1st place moved to Upper, 2nd and 3rd moved to Lower, and last place was eliminated, so that players where also trying to avoid being last). But it could also just be a coincident and the decision for the pacts purely based on ingame decisions.
