I NEVER Expected This Bait to Work! (Shallow Fall Smallmouth)

- I love cranking for shallow smallmouth in the fall, but I never expected this bait to work. A squarebill is a bait that I normally reserve for crashing into shallow cover and river situations, but these smallmouth were crushing the Xcite XB1 in shallow water.

Great video bud!! I’ve never landed a double either which is crazy considering how much we throw at those smallies and have the opportunities too. Glad I’m not the only one still waiting on their first non-Arig double
Right?! This fall, let’s make it a mission for some 7s, dirty 30s, and doublin up
Such a fun video. Squarebills are FUN!!
Such a fun day. We need to get out soon together
@@brnowak_fishing absolutely!!
I always use square bills up shallow against wood and ripping through weeds. I’ve never thought about offshore with one. Always learning from ya brother. Great video man!👊🏻
That’s normally how I fish it too, but it just felt right that day to fish it up in the column. Thanks for watching Joe!
Congrats on an epic Squarebill bite! It was like the bite I was on with my 16 and 13 yr Olds I told you about on Friday. Everything wanted our craw squarebills. Smallies, Pike, and Muskie! Wow 6 pounder cranking?! Fantastic!
Great video love cranking keep up the good work
Cranking is the best
Benjamin Crankenstien!! Great cranking’ bite for sure. Great content again man. I love using a wiggle wart but definitely going to try more square bill. Fish on🎣
You da man Phil! Thanks brotha. I’ve heard I need to try a Wart and Rk crawler a bit more
Good vid man looks like an awesome time on the water I love it! I’ve been tossing my square bills as well and getting some action! Love the fall!
Thanks so much Eric. It was a ton of fun. I love cranking in the fall
Great stuff, Ben! It’s gonna be a fun fall!
Yessir! It certainly is
Great video that bite was 🔥
Thanks so much! What an insane day for sure. It was so much fun
12:29 yesssssssiiiiiiiiirrrrr
You know it brother 🙌🏻
Nice day Ben! That morning bite looked awesome, especially having a double on and landing a 5.86 SM. 👏👏
The bait pattern you used during the fall months =
a plethora of smallmouth! I would have been glad to be your net guy on that day but unfortunately I live on the WA/ID border and could t make that happen. Your friends are really missing out not being in your boat with you. Keep whacking the big ones because more and more will continue biting as the water gets colder.👍🏻😊
Thanks so much Bob! It was an incredible morning flurry out there. I have a fishing trip coming up next weekend, it’ll be so great to get out with Derds and my other friends and try to go crack some giants 🙌🏻. Hopefully you get out soon as well

That’s great to hear Ben. You guys should have a great time!👍🏻😊
Hey Ben nice job beautiful smallie .
Thanks Michael!
👏👏awesome day Ben,to bad about losing the double ❤❤
Thanks Ken! It was an incredible day
You're gonna regret those fairy flip flops when a treble sticks you...😂
That’s a fact. I’ve thought about that same thing before
@@brnowak_fishing Crocs!
I’ve been crushing them in the Delaware river in ny on the sixth sense square bills
Random question- you wouldn’t happen to be the Ben that announced the move to full time RUclips by hitting reply to all on a company wide email would you?
Hahah I am :-)
@@MassReelFishingI may have to do a story time on how that happened. I wish I still had a copy of that email
@@brnowak_fishingyou should. It’s a great story. I tell it at work at least every few months.
Are you still liking your boat choice Ben? I bet it takes those waves good
I loveeeee it. I don’t regret it for a second and wouldn’t choose anything but a Champ if I were doing it again
@@brnowak_fishing and that's saying a whole lot coming from your blue phenix man
@@p38324 the Phoenix was amazing, but more than I needed at this point in my life. Having a boat payment each month just to fun fish, didn’t make sense. Now I have a boat that crushes big waves so I can fish big water, but also I can make my own and no payment, is amazing
@brnowak_fishing no doubt man,you had to spend some serious money in that phenix. I live 20 minutes from the factory too but there's just no way any boat is worth that much. Myself I bought a 21 tracker but I'm not in those big waves like you are.
What part of the lake?
6-12 fow
But where, Niagara, US, CAN, Quinte?@@brnowak_fishing
Just curious, why throw a bait if you aren't expecting it to work?
Going out that morning I had it tied on because I was going to fish a river system. When I got on the spot, I noticed some small baitfish on the ridge so I picked up the squarebill. If you’d have asked me before going out, I’d never have guessed I’d catch them on the XB1 like that. It was an incredible day
@@brnowak_fishing As a fellow northerner, those are the days you daydream about over the long winter months!
@@Twangtown7 the best days ever. And making that call to throw that bait because it just “felt right” is such a rewarding feeling
