- Who is Candy Montgomery?
The killing of Betty Gore shocked a small North Texas town, and will be brought to life in two true-crime series: Hulu's "Candy" and HBO Max's "Love and Death."
Forty-one strikes with an ax is rage, jury's decision was absurd.
absolutely
Naw
Candy Montgomery took an ax
She gave friend Betty 40 whacks
When she saw what she’d done
She upped the count to 41
She is white. That's all
@@beccf.s.8012 didnt she killed another white?
1-3 maybe self-defense but 41 that's murdet. Either her attorney had the mind tricks of a Jedi or the 12 jurors had a major lapse of stupidity.
Jurors were total idiots
Agree! 100%
White woman in the 80s
Gudluck texas people. Ur judge is 'wise' man
Omg . This was psychological effect .
She was 30 looking 70 😭😭😭😭
The show has been phenomenal. The acting is really great. Even the kids. I don't know who plays the daughter of the victim but she's gonna be famous. Also, the Texas accents are spot on. Not all over the top hillbilly like is so often presented.
Texas has residents moving here from every state mixed in with native Texans. I find Texans speaking less texanish and California or Seattle people developing a Texas drawl. It's funny.
I have family in Texas and Georgia and none of them are hillbillies, you liberal tart.
I said the same thing about who played the daughter of Betty!
Same thing the daughter is a great actress… she’s definitely gonna get more roles.
I had the exact same thoughts! The only thing I was able to point out that was inaccurate was a two second part with a doll that was not from the 70s or 80s but obviously that is the smallest detail. I only mention that to show how intensely I watched this series and I thought it was fantastic. Amzing acting ,set design, cinematography, costumes.
Even if it was a self defense. Candy left Betty dead and able tp do normal things as if nothing happens.. thats.. psychopath !!
The series is great and Jessica has done a great job of making me HATE this woman, what a narcissistic psychopath.
You might be able to fool a jury, but you can’t run from divine judgment. What a waste of so many lives. Great job by the cast and crew, though.
Well she did. Still alive and well and with a career in mental health from all careers.
If she asked forgiveness than she’ll be forgiven.
As a teenager in the 80s, I can say they nailed the 80s decor and fashion. I honestly felt like I was watching home videos from that era.
EXACTLY
Jessica Biel killed it in the show
Barbara Hershey was great also she won a Emmy and golden globe playing candy Morrison
Justin Timberlake as Sheriff. Well done🐙
The end really angered me, but it happens . America ! . That trial was a joke . 🤷🏻♀️
Yessss
Yes! I just finished watching, and while I liked the series overall, the trial episode was the worst part.
And then to go on to be a family therapist baffles my mind.
A comlete failure of justice. I dont care what kind of flashback she had after one throw of the ax you know what you are doing. That Jury should be so ashamed
There was not Justice for Betty. Poor woman. CANDY is a killer and she was free.😡
41 blows with an axe considered self defense. If you read the description of the show, they make it sound like the adultress murderer was some sort of hero. 9 insane women and 3 simps agreed.
Exactly
That's not how the show portrays it though
Candy is clearly psycho! They can spin it anyway they want but 41 hits with an ax is NOT self defense. It's rage.
EXTREMELY TRUE AF
I thought I was the only one who noticed that! In the summary it literally described her as a woman pressured into conformity and trying to be free until someone tells her shush and she snaps as if she was a victim! I chose not to watch just because of that summary!
Candy deserved to do jail time I can’t believe she got off with nothing was the jury all brain dead
The series was great! Enjoyed every episode. Just learned that HBOMax has their own Love and Death series coming this year with Elizabeth Olsen playing Candy. By the way, Candace Montgomery definitely killed Betty out of rage, not self defense.
3 actresses have now played candece Montgomery it took 25 years for a tv movie about jean harris to be made
Maybe started as self defence but surely ended in manslaughter. Destroying evidence ie her footwear, clothes etc was a conscious act of law-avoidance. A couple of years in prison should have been served to pay for the life lost and family damaged.
FYI the episodes are released each day this week, not once a week!
so far, I’ve enjoyed the series. this is surprisingly my first time hearing about the case and I tune in to a lot of true crime stories.
Same! I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this case before. I’m literally wearing t shirt right now that says “serial killer documentaries and chill” 😂 it was a gift because of all the true crime documentaries and shows that I watch. And yessss thank goodness they’re released once a day and not once a week! I’m enjoying it so far too 🪓
Thank goodness ! I’ve been wanting to watch the show since I’ve seen the trailer on Hulu. Made me more excited to stay watching !
Really?? they have a couple about her on the I.D channel!!
@@selithadoggett445 I need to see this!! Thanks for letting me know.
Check out the episode of Snapped that the case was portrayed. Do y’all believe her story?
Candy’s hair alone was enough reason for me to dislike her
For a woman who killed with an axe on Friday the 13th in 1980 it makes sense they released Candy yesterday May 9th (which is the release date of Friday the 13th in 1980). Im a bit of a horror fan but I didn't hear about this case till recently. Also, Love and Death is going to be on HBO Max and Elizabeth Olsen is going to be playing Candy as well. I'm not sure when that is coming out though but it's this year. So I guess we will see who plays Candy the best.
Oh wow didn’t know that can you let me know when it comes out
@@harpergrace5846 Candy is out on Hulu right now but I'm not sure when Love and death is coming out on HBO Max.
AND the last episode of the Hulu series will air tomorrow, Friday the 13th, as well.
@@cyra__ Yes! I just saw the last episode and your right! It wasn't weekly, it was a 5 day premier and today is Friday the 13th. Gives me the chills when the Lawyer said all those revelant 13 numbers and now...released May 9 was Friday the 13th (which I didn't know, thanks @taryntots for that) and the finale was on Friday the 13th. Let me stay inside today lol
@taryn tots
Sick world we live in
My mum recalls this story she had just moved to the US with my grandparents. Apparently Candy was acquitted but it was an OJ situation where the verdict was very controversial.
She was not guilty if you've been living on the moon!
Still seething. Pregnant Betty was executed in cold blood. 41 hatchet blows and her eyes chopped out. She didnt get justice nor did Candy get life in jail which she should have. Only in America do you get "justice" like this.
Yep 12 dumbos
She thought she might be pregnant. But she wasn't.
Allan gore should pay
He lost custody of his daughters because thd stepmother mistreated the eldest daughter by buying and making her read the book 📖 evidence of love plus ➕ having to take ice 🧊 baths 🛁 the grandfather threatened to pull all of Allen hair out because the girls her missing hair
I agree but Candy killed Betty out of jealousy plus Candy wanted the affair in the first place he should’ve said no
Candy Montgomery took an ax
Gave ol Betty 40 whacks
When she saw what she had done
Finished her off with 41
AMEN
While watching the Hulu series, which is phenomenal, I look at Beil and sometimes I see an snl Kate McKinnon character.
really an excellent work! Love to see Jessica Biel in that role, hope she does more like this
Amazing series Jessica biel did her thing. I love don’t give up on us song by David soul.
1 episode a day not a week
girl if it wouldve been a week I wouldve been big mad lol
Somebody knows, what happened with a lens fallen out of glasses and found in the garage? Candy claimed door to the garage was closed, while her lens was found there. Was ir excluded of the evidence list? What was told in the court about that?
Yes, I think they were told. They couldn't figure it out so they decided to disregard it.
When the first TV 📺 movie 🎬 was made with Barbara Hershey her glasses weren't missing a lens
Let's remember Barbara Hershey doing the same portrait in the 80's.
Candy is such a homely ,frumpy, middle aged woman
She was 30.
Just finished it. It’s amazing!
They just used the term “old fashioned” for releasing a series weekly 💀
I'm not a Jessica Biel fan but her performance was outstanding
Watch the version with Barbara Hershey I feel sorry for lee garlington who played peggy Blankenship she was left out of most of the movie we saw the husband's more then we did of peggy Blankenship 😢
I would really like to know if they found Betty’s fingerprints on that axe! I know it was saturated with blood but it could’ve been what convicted Candy. I’ve never believed it was self defense pure jealousy and rage!
Why would Betty's fingerprints not be on her own axe? That's easily explainable
so this woman is still alive? while the series is released?
Yes I read she is 72 now and is a mental health counselor
I binged. Gosh it's that curly hair that reminded me of Justin Timberlake...all the darn time ...and then he made a guest appearance in straight hair.
41 whacks with a wet noodle, Bart.
You won't give away the verdict? It's literally historical. Show some actual reactions from court room attendees on how this horror affected this little community.
Normal-ish…what is that?
Murdering, conniving...$
Not sure if I missed it or not, but does anyone know when the other person she had an affair with? Please don't say the bf
Yup her best friends husband.
She left before even the trial finished coz she knew her husband was the one.
Some salesman that she would see once a year at a neighbor's parties.
Interesting...
She a G
It isn't once a week
Como assim legitima defesa??
Foram mais de 40 golpes???😮😮????
Gudluck texas people. Ur judge is really 'wise'.
Once every night not once a week
I love nonsense. Everyone’s lives were ruined.
You can see it in Disney too
Candy @ " HULU"
Way ahead of this lady already finished the finale lol
Once a day..... Not week ;)
This is insane this lady should have went to prison
