    Everything I needed to know. This pedal pairs 100 percent with a Boss GT-100, greatly expanding its capability with the "momentary" option. If I'm not mistaken, Van Halen used a momentary pedal while doing songs like "Unchained" with the heavy Phaser (or Flanger, can't remember) effect during parts of the song.

    Thanks for this Dave. I just bought a Boss Katana MkII along with the FS-6 footswitch. As soon as I unboxed the FS-6 and went to plug it in, I discovered Boss's design error. There should be a 9V plug-in in the back. Nobody wants to have to reach down to unplug pedals before and after use. Your suggestion for the battery cable was perfect. But still, shame on Boss for this mistake on what is otherwise a great product!

    great video. Can you tell me about the switch "polarity" in the FS-6 dual boss?? how to use this option (polarity) I dont now anything about "polarity" I think I m gonna damage my boss pedal. I use rc3 loopstation boss, I use it to change channel of my amp and sometimes to change the mode of distortion in my turbo distortion boss and a digital delay DD7. Please . .

    • @XlouietheflyX
      @XlouietheflyX 5 лет назад +4

      It's not polarity like on a power supply, it means 'normally open' versus 'normally closed' ... as far as I can tell this means whether when the effect is engaged the light is on or light is off.

    Great video again. Can't go wrong with Boss footswitches built to last.
    I own a couple of Behringers that i got bundled with an old drum m/c from a mate. These can be latching or momentary but they do not have the polarity switch on them. Also not powered either.

    • @Sammonkeyfist
      @Sammonkeyfist 7 лет назад +1

      Would be good to note that the FS7 footswitch would be a good option too. Only two outputs A and B but does have dc power and also has a different footprint if anyone is limited for space on their pedal boards.

    • @PhatPhishGuitarStudio
      @PhatPhishGuitarStudio  7 лет назад +1

      As with so many things, it's a case of weighing up the features and price versus your requirements/preferences and budget.
      The DC power in on the FS7 is a big selling point for me, but I'm not sold on the one-switch-above-another form factor...I much prefer side by side...I guess I just don;t trust my feet not to catch on the switch that I'm not aiming for.

    • @Sammonkeyfist
      @Sammonkeyfist 7 лет назад

      I've not seen an FS7 in the flesh so to speak but I do think there is quite a height difference in the two pedal so I don't think catching it would be a problem, but then again I think I'd too have the same issue and go for a side by side myself.

    What exactly is the cable to connect both the 9v battery connector in the foot switch and the power supply?

    • @PhatPhishGuitarStudio

      I made the power cable up myself using a 9 volt battery connector cable on one end, and standard effects pedal power cable cut in half to provide the other end. You can get pre-made cables though - I just made my own because I didn't have exactly what I needed, but I did have spare parts lying around to be able to make one myself.

    Can this be used for the MIDI IN port in a trigger module, to change program?

    • @chrislaarman7532
      @chrislaarman7532 2 года назад

      I don't think so (but I may be wrong). MIDI is about sending data (in bursts), using optical coupling at the connectors to avoid hum. Program changes each represent a message of a number of bytes (one byte for the command itself and the MIDI channel targeted, one byte for the number of the program, I remember), and "one up" or "one down" would require the current number to be stored in a buffer. This switch looks like mere closing a circuit for a moment (unlatched) or some time (latched). - So I was going to say "I think you'd need an Expression pedal", but I'd be wrong, as Expression is a continuous controller.

    • @PhatPhishGuitarStudio

      I believe the difference is the layout - FS6 is side-by-side so takes up a bit more real estate on your pedal board but it's really easy to access each pedal/switch. The FS7 is narrower with one pedal/switch behind the other, but I'm not so keen on it as I don't like reaching over one pedal to get to the other

      There's something else to have in mind:
      When due to there's only one MODE switch on the FS-7 when you choose latch or unlatch both A and B switches work latched or unlatched.
      And as you have two MODE switchs on the FS-6 you can have A switch latched and B another one unlatched and viceversa.

      You can use the stereo A/B cable when your device input for channel/effects loop is controlled by connecting only one plug.

      You can't use the three outputs at once.

    Hi I have a problem with my fs-6.
    the "pedal B" is always active.
    - Mono cable entry in pedal A
    - Mono cable entry in pedal B
    - stereo cable output in A + B
    Pedal A works (on \ off), while pedal B is always active even when pressed.
    Obviously I tried to change cables, I also used contact spray but nothing.
    Question: Is this normal or is there something wrong?
    Thanks!

    • @PhatPhishGuitarStudio

      You can use individual mono cables OR a stereo cable but not both. These aren't entry/output connections, they are means of connecting individual swicthes- either 2 individual swicthes on 2 individual mono cables, or 2 switches sharing a single stereo cable.

      No - an ABY switch sits inline with the guitar signal and routes it, whereas this is a switch for remote control of amp/pedal. You don't connect your guitar to this switch

    REF; AT 10.30 THE LEAD ; If you connect the plug to your board and the battery clip to the fs- 6 the polarity would be reversed/WRONG .... you use or make it WORK by changing it . ( CUT THE LEAD AND change the wires over over and solder

    • @PhatPhishGuitarStudio
      @PhatPhishGuitarStudio  3 года назад

      I don't think I understand your question here, as there's no reversal of polarity - the cable is wired so positive & negative lines from power supply connect correctly to positive and negative connectors on the battery clip

      If your're using the individual connectors then its a standard mono or tip/sleeve cable like you'd use for a guitar. For the combined connection then it's a stereo or tip/ring/sleve (TRS) cable. There's a bit more about cales in another of my videos... ruclips.net/video/UHmHPeIuAB8/видео.html

      @@PhatPhishGuitarStudio If you want to use two delays with this, do you have to connect them individually to A & B and then, if wanting to "sync" the delays, tap on A & B switch one after the other, or could you use it in "both A+B" mode with a TRS>two standard mono (ie: a splitter cable)? I read in the manual that if you are using the "both" option you cannot connect devices like pedals to the unit.

    Kind of sucks that it only runs on battery. Why in the world would Boss not add the feature to run the power to an adapter or 1spot??? Nobody is going to want to tear this off your board every time you need to change the battery! I was almost sold on it until realizing this.

    It's a complete mystery to me why FS-6 needs power.. And why BOSS deliberately made it without the option of using a power adapter. It can ONLY use battery, which could die anytime during a live show. I am pretty disappointed with it, and would stay away from this product. Alternatively get two BOSS FS-5U's instead. The can do the same and doesn't need power. Why the heck do a passive contact need power in the first place? I still wonder..
