Cape Town Pre-Cruise Adventures 2: Robben Island Tour

We had a few days in Cape Town before our cruise on NCL Dawn. We wanted to visit Robben Island. We booked tickets while in UK several months before our visit to ensure we got the date and time we wanted.
We booked direct with Robben Island Gateway using their web site.
There is an excellent explanation of Cape Town history in the Gateway Terminal which everyone should visit.
The Ferry is large and enclosed with good seats. The crossing is rough. Once on the Island you get on a bus for a tour of the island. For a place which caused such misery and hardship there is a haunting beauty to the island and lots of wildlife.
After a tour of the island you get a tour of the main prison on foot by an ex-prisoner.
You then get to walk back to the ferry in your own “walk to freedom”
All very well done and organised.
