    This is Singapore road traffic Teddy Bear law...... accident death cause by reckless driving, only jail 1-2 years.....few years later can drive again after retake driving test......but nothing is going to compensate the dead and the permanently disfigured victims....... where else, having a few grams of drug in possession will land you in hangman capital death penalty 😮
    PS: I'm not saying drug related shouldn't be a death penalty, but likewise reckless driving causing dead victims, should be heavier punishment than current 1-2 years Changi Chalet stays.

    • @godsakezz
      @godsakezz 23 дня назад +10

      There is a difference. It is indeed unfortunate for the victims in any kind of accidents. But when you are talking about illegal drug addiction, you are talking about bringing down the whole family to its knees, and not just that, hundreds and thousands and ten of thousands of other families, or should I just say the society. Singapore isn't big. We have to be efficient in every way to survive in this world as a small country. Can you imagine the row of towns from Bishan to Pasir Ris for example, are all drug addicts? Who would want to come here and invest and create jobs?

    Time for journalists to do some in-depth reporting of the lack of enforcement on Singapore roads. Don't just rely on traffic cameras. TP presence will surely make road users think twice before breaking the laws. You can see, cyclists, pedestrians, motorists not following traffic rules 24/7. Speeding, reckless and dangerous driving, failure to form up, tail gating, road rages, the list goes on.

    I watched the actual cam footage. I have a different opinion to this. This is only secondarily a speeding issue. It is primarily a behaviour issue.
    We do not drive like this on public roads, we do not hit cars and then drive away, or drive through a red light frontally into the other traffic. The speed has made it worse, however the issue here is the attitude displayed on a public road. This person - whoever it is - is a driver who is too immature for permitting him to drive a car, and who should not let onto the road for many many years, except on foot.

    Just weeks ago Ch8 Tuesday report did an episode on the girlfriend of a few speed demons who died a few years ago at Tanjong Pagar. Instead of seeing the right side of things, the surviving girlfriend and the dead ah bengs were all hailed as heroes, objects of sympathy! We see having a car as a sign of being successful, the Singapore dream. All these perceptions have to change. No more pity and tributes for speed demons and the penalties for such offences when innocent lives are involved should be raised tenfold!

    Just that? Why no hush punishment for these type of fatal penalty? Should include at least 6 stroke of caning and if SINGAPORE can serve this penalty on overstayers that does not endanger others while drink driving, speeding and reckless driving does just get a few weeks, or months jail for taking away a precious lives. More like justice is not on the sides of the innocent fatal bystanders.

    • @DaviddeAzri
      @DaviddeAzri 23 дня назад +3

      people dont only drive cars, or vehicles in general, for carrying heavy goods.
      cars are just faster, they can go from point A to B in a single trip without having to change lines like the mrt. imagine how much time would be saved, especially for people who need to get to somewhere urgently.
      u also mentioned that the MRT station is “right there”. you cant just assume that all drivers on the road live right next to MRT stations. there are neighbourhoods that have people take 10-20 min walks just to get to the station if they live deep inside those neighbourhoods. again, picture how much time would be wasted just to walk there. i wouldnt blame them if public or private transports, including cars, were their only option left.
      people also drive cars to make a living too yk. grab drivers, delivery businesses etc etc. not everyone is driving just because they want to, but because they need to.
      u are also right to say that cars are more dangerous since we have reckless people driving like they own the road, but we can’t really blame the car, that situation would be on the driver for being so inconsiderate by putting the lives of others on the line, like we have seen countless times before

    • @Khai_ser
      @Khai_ser 23 дня назад +3

      @@DaviddeAzri Yes u are also right in that sense to to say that people need to get from pt A to pt B urgently, for example to go to hospital to see a despawning relative. The main point im talking about is for people to use car/private hire vehicles only when its really urgent like what we both mentioned just now. If there are too many people unnecessarily driving cars just because its comfortable, then those who need to drive the most will be stuck in traffic jams, defeating the entire purpose of driving. Besides majority of cars still use combustion engines and require more space to operate in which its not very good to have in a changing climate and in land scarce Singapore. Therefore it is why i want more people to use more public transport so that pedestrians and urgent motorists can get from pt A to B safely and quickly without hurting the climate

    • @DaviddeAzri
      @DaviddeAzri 23 дня назад

      @@Khai_ser ahh, i see i see, u are also right in saying that cars affect the climate and that public transport is a more environmentally friendly option. i have nothing against public transportation, but car manufacturers are already switching to more sustainable ways like electric cars. all we have to do is to trust the process.
      but im not sure what u mean by the part where u talk about people driving because it is “comfortable”, if ur talking about comfortable as in like “making life much easier”, then i believe that my points listed in my first comment address that.
      but if we are talking about “comfortable” as in like “driving around to have fun and enjoy”, then i think that those type of drivers are very limited since the cost of living here is rising. everything is getting more expensive, so i’d assume that said type of drivers are starting to actually find a proper reason to own cars, instead of keeping them for the sake of it

    I have a feeling that the Saab driver might be driving illegally, most regular people after the sideswipe incident with the Mercs would have stopped by the side instead of trying to run like he did, Probably because they don't have a license (maybe suspended from driving) and would be in a ton of trouble if he had stopped, unfortunately this led to the fatal accident.

    Singapore is a strange country. I remember a long time ago, there were young men who killed someone without a driving licence and were only sentenced to four months in prison.
    In one case, the perpetrator had a good family background and was an intellectual. Isn't this a dangerous sign reflecting the social situation in Singapore? All sorts of things in society can now be judged by anyone without asking the AI.
    Many people think Lee Kuan Yew was an irreplaceable dictator. Since he left, Singapore has become more complicated. It is no longer a society in which anyone feels safe.
    I think Singapore will become a mediocre country and may even collapse soon. What do you think?

    This person said he sped up to make the Saab (Black Car) slow down. He lied. He sped up to trap him behind another motorist. He simply cannot tolerate anyone speeding pass him and owning a AmG 43, he wanted to unleash the horsepower and fxxxk the black car over. The Saab avoided the front motorist and sideswiped the Merc. This person is also another to be prosecuted severely; not withstanding the fact, that when the Saab hit him, the driver looked at the rear view mirror and wondered what did he hit. By the time he looked straight again, it was too late. This Merc is guilty. If you looked at the video carefully, when the merc power up to force the Saab (black car) , this Saab driver noticed a motorist in front and he did swerved to avoid hitting this front motorist; despite driving at fast speed. The actual cause of the people’s death is this merc driver. It is common sense, to look in the mirror what did you hit. It is this distraction that took the Saab’s driver eyes off the road. Thus, this Merc driver attributed to this terrible accident. He deregistered his vehicle immediately the following day and other netizens have surfaced his other intimidating and arrogant road behaviors. If he had allowed the black Saab to overtake, he may have kept his eyes on the road and thus, this disaster may not incur the loss of lives. He lied without conscience and does not repent. Yet, he is trying to lie his way out when other moans for their family member’s death. Netizens should disclose who he is. Everything is under wrapped for the moment from the authorities pending investigation. I feel very sorry for the lost ones and their family and yet I am angry to see this Merc driver trying to get away and not be implicated for his vicious action. People died. How are their families going to live through this sudden loss. Yet, we have a liar who doesn’t own up for his actions and defending his innocent stance.
