I've always used cheap rods and reels but this year I decided I wanted decent spinning combos I started with a Lew's Xfinity then I bought a Lew's Crush and I love them I just ordered a Lew's smash it should be in the mail from Lew's any day now you can't go wrong with Lew's
As a newbie and watching lots of reviews on the Black Max I was all set to buy the Black Max as my first combo but now I’m not sure. 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for the review. Except now I have to research the Lew’s American Hero. 🤦🏻♂️
Steezy Franklin I hear ya. Decided to go with my first choice, the Black Max. Also the Lew’s is $10 more now. Trying to stay under $100 and I need all the gear as I have nothing.
Patrick E I ended up grabbing the Lews today. Both are extremely close though. Literally the only thing that sold me on the Lews obviously, is more bearings and the exposed pole on the handle. That black max was really nice too, they had some paired up on those cork cherry wood poles, DAMN, good looking setup. 😍. But I think the Lews is gorgeous also and very well made, I had to see them in person to really decide. It truly believe it’s basically the same pole with different paint lol. I suggest anyone grab EITHER one and they will be setup for a long time.

The fact that you owned the black max for 2 years and still chose the Lews says it all in itself. I’m definitely going with the Lews also, even though my favorite color is red.

I got my girlfriend the black max, and I have the Lew's in this video. Both are solid combos for beginners. To get the most out of them i would buy YO-ZURI braid, makes the reels feel like butter. The black max is soooo fun fighting big bass on. Keep in mind they are budget reels, but still wayyy better than Shakespeare and junk combos. The Lew's holds its own with fish that are close to 10 lbs.
